I'm a huge fan of Kaz, this game, and I'm extremely overjoyed by what they have been able to include, but can we please stop with the God jokes in the title?

If whoever has the means to change it won't act to do so, then I'll just move on and ignore it, but it's a shame.

There is still a long time to go until this game releases however this time next month advertising will be in full flow. I'm hoping for some 'classy' adverts along with the shitty Kevin Butler ones for NA and same for here in Europe apart from "the game is just the start" ones. Already it's pretty obvious that in the NA adverts Sony will flaunt the Nascar license and online like crazy and WRC in EU, it's so easy to advertise a GT game I could actually make the advert for GT5. For all regions just have the GT logo up for a minute with the release date......easy peasy. :p

GT2's ads were very good

Thanks mate, I forgot to mention I'm looking for a full cockpit, anyway a friend recommended me the VisionRacer VR3, going to try it at his house before I buy, now the only problem is how to convince my wife

Just buy a Playseat and save yourself at ton of money. If you don't have a good wheel they have Playseat G27 combo at a decent price.

Wasn't it in some Peter Dille interview that was posted a while back where he said they should just let the game breathe and market itself? That was a very smart thing to say.

As much as I like the Kevin Butler ads, they're a wrong fit for a Gran Turismo game. Not to say there weren't humourous or silly GT ads in the past, but I think that was all SCEE, unsurprisingly.

They should go out of the norm when marketing this. The property is too valuable to cock up with

Keep it classy SCE, just this one time.

[a]list: It seems like Gran Turismo is the sort of thing where you'd want to let the TV spots “breathe” and just show off how great it looks.

PD: When you're marketing Gran Turismo, part of the objective is get out of the way and let the game sell itself. We'll try to make sure people are taking in the right things and not just becoming overwhelmed, but it's a fun product to market.

are you mounting the g27 to any particular cockpit?, looking to get the Fanatec RennSport, it's a bit pricey but seems solidly built, any other recommendations?, thanks
I don't know yet. I definitely won't buy a Playseat or any Wheelstand, because I don't like to have the wheel stand between my legs. I'll probably hack something together and since I have a room left in my new apartment, I can hide the ugly construction there. :D

A cockpit like this would be nice.

They'll probably do like God of War 3: one Butler ad, and one traditional trailer.

The problem with Butler is that his ads are based around humor. They're going to have a hard enough time trying to show just how much content GT5 has in the first place, so having someone cracking jokes while attempting to get across that content wouldn't work.

They should definitely use Butler for GT.

Just not ONLY Butler. He makes it fun and people like fun.

Noooooo. GT5 ads need to be as sophisticated, big budget and to the point as possible.

Think of it this way: given the opportunity, would you let Kevin Butler market Halo: Reach?

Why not both? KB ad + sophisticated, big budget ad. Make as many GT5 ads as they can. Everyone needs to see this baby.

Omega Boost ad was weird and very non Polyphony Digital style.

....
a side project for OB2 before GT6 will be awesome ( since PS3 is the system for mecha games in Japan now ) , shame PD don't care about Omega Boost anymore :(

It been working so well for Sony why would they just stop?I am sure thy going to have more than 1 ad as well.

you can transfer everything from GT5 P to GT5 proper, right? I'll be more than happy to start out with millions of credits and dozens of high end cars in my garage.

Really?

One of my favourite things in GT games is starting off with a shitty used car and working my way up through various quality cars.

The KB well is going to run dry if they keep milking it at this pace. The commercials are usually worth a good chuckle but are even more lowbrow then SCEJ's onion commercials.(which I kinda like, actually)

I also liked Europe's 'This is Living' super long spots and the crying baby doll stuff in the US. It was ballsy and it stood out, but obviously couldn't help sell a clearly overpriced piece of hardware. My opinions are my own, but SCE's new and 'fresh' marketing initiative is so much more pastiche and boring compared to what they used to do. I just fear that will bring down public perception of what GT5 is.

Anyone remember the home theatre set up where the bucket seat and wheel came out from the ground like transformers?

I would prefer one of the GT5 ads to be like the Killzone 2 ad here in NA. Nothing too crazy but showing off the beauty of the game. Because that will be the first thing people pay attention to that are not too familiar with the franchise. The next ads could be more content related when people already remember the looks.

Same here. I actually felt that GT4 was partially ruined by its broken economy (too much cash too quickly). I really hope PD decides to make selling prize cars have a nominal value (~500 credits) or nothing at all.

Im gunna hop into a Ferrari and take it for a late night spin in the rain (no pun) as soon as I get the game. and it will be glorious.

Except the 'this is living' adverts were a utter failure, many thought it was for yet another shitty reality TV show and were completely oblivious to them being anything gaming related.

And I will complete every single license test before buying my first car and then probably do whatever it takes to unlock the endurance races.

Absolutely. Sony had too much faith in the brand's ability to sell, but the commercials themselves were very cleverly constructed and jam-packed with weird and funny symbolism about the videogame industry.

I couldn't agree more. The God titles and masturbatory posts are rather childish.

All they have to do in Europe is show a logo of the game and a release date for 30 seconds :lol

Damn :/ Wish I could afford that.

I mean, wish I could afford it without feeling bad afterwards.

Same here, plus I don't have a separate room or place to store something like that. I don't really want that sitting in my living room. What's the best (read cheap and small :)) alternative? Wheel stand? Even those I found pricey...

Better then prologue, but still not good enough for most.

I was relatively happy with the prologue sound so I should be fine

Not a single one has been spotted in trailers.[/QUOTE]

I really really hope they are in. Ferrari in and Porsche out would be a bad trade off for me. Yellowbird on the Ring in GT4 was fucking awesome and the cars in general are absolute beasts.
