Saw it this weekend. I really liked it. I´m usually not a fan of 3D but this was one of those movies where it actually added something. Great acting too.

I saw it a couple of days ago. It's the movie of the year for me. Once it starts rolling, the suspense is non stop. There are no slow or unnecessary set pieces. I've never seen a movie that hit its beats as well as Gravity does.

I hope that the film will sweep the Oscars.

Same,
the last time i gave 3D a chance was with Hobbit and that was another disappointment. Always go see movies in 2D if possible.

Here, 3D does indeed work. I guess its due to there basically being NO background in most scenes :D just items in space.
Still wish the glasses were lighter or non-existant. Our theater used active 3d glasses.

Saw this about a month ago at a normal cinema in 2D and really liked it.

Saw it again at IMAX in 3D at Melbourne (the world’s 3rd biggest screen) and had perfect seats and I absolutely loved it even more than the first time I saw it. The 3D was the best I’ve ever seen in a movie and it made it even better, and that’s coming from someone who generally thinks 3D is terrible. The image never blurred due to fast motions and the level of depth was really great. The movie was practically made to be seen in 3D. Dat Marvin the Martian shot! So good! Everyone absolutely needs to see this in 3D if they have the choice.

Yeah, this movie made me a 3D believer again. Avatar has finally been surpassed.

Just came back. Best film I've seen this year easily.

When
Clooney came back into the shuttle after being lost I felt huge relief. His uplifting attitude was needed at that moment.

You know, thinking about it now, this is the film that should have been what "Avatar" was inasmuch as it is a showcase for 3d and doesn't have a turd of a story dragging it down and making it infinitely forgettable.

What? The story and acting of gravity was pure michael bay cheese. The movie was just eye candy with a completely hollow, cliched and creatively dead innards.

But I guess people forgive anything for cool sfx.

It didn't make me hate myself and James Cameron like Avatar did though.

They knew that they were just making a film porn movie and kept the story as simple as they could. You can't say the movie copied Dances with Wolves or is racist or sexist or any of the other weird baggage that Avatar got attached with because Cameron thought he could still write science fiction stories.

If only. I was offended by the complete lack of effort in the writing. The characters were just as unbelievable as the things happening in the movie. The symbolism especially made me shake my head in disbelief. They might as well have used a narrator describing the hammy compositions so even your dog would not miss them.

Also the amoumt of cuts from loud noise to silence went old after the tenth consecutive time...

This was great on every level.
The ISS entry scene was so great. I have never consciously pushed myself to absorb as much as I possibly could of what was on screen, as I did for that fleeting moment.
What a deserved and beautiful ending. Earth looked so gorgeous and homely. This is the first time a film has made me actually appreciate and love our planet Earth.

Went to see this tonight, my first modern 3D movie experience too. Absolutely phenomenal, looked incredible, amazingly suspensful. Just.. man.

I very much enjoyed this movie :). I saw it regular 3D the first time and that was great and the second time I saw it in IMAX 3D and was not disappointed at all :).

I just realized that two of the Three Cabelleros (Inarratu, Cuaron, Del Toro) released movies in the same year again. Biutiful released last year, I think, but these guys released Babel, Children of Men and Pan's Labyrinth so close to eachother, and they all collaborated on eachothers films too. Did Del Toro help on Gravity at all?

Absolutely spectacular film.

It is wildly inaccurate but if you approach it with the scientific rigor you would demand from Armageddon, the film is one of the most spectacular rides you will ever experience. Rarely does a film fill every minute with a constant sense of suspense, action and thrill. Away from earth it also portrays Earth beutifully as something you will really come to miss as the film proceeds.

Probably the film of the 2010s so far for me.

Watched it with the wife tonight. It's one of those experiences where you're sitting there and realize that you're watching a masterpiece. Really incredible.

Del Toro got special thanks in the credits.

That was quite amazing; some flaws sure (sometimes the writing was a bit too blunt for me and seemed as if there was a forced sentimentality while the music, at times, felt far too bombastic; I didn't mind the very simple plot of the movie as some others seem too) but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was much more action-packed than I had expected but this turned out not to be a bad thing, it was unrelentingly tense.

Zzzz this movie had nothing besides visuals. Boring and flat characters which I really couldn't care about, story line was predictable. 4/10

Like the posters above. This was so over hyped. Moon was by far and i mean way by far better movie then this. This had great visual effects i guess but i do not care for those.

Watched in Imax 3d by the way and again i can say that I really do not get 3D at all. :( very few moments or movie gave me 3d effects. even avatar did not do it for me so i guess i am 3d less.

saw this a few weeks ago with the wife. I agree with these, though I'd give it more of a 6. Average story executed really well. I thought Prisoners was much more intense, and a better movie overall.

Gravity knew what 2001: A Space Odyssey did not - keep it short. 2001 was at the very least, 30 minutes too long. (I rate both movies a 9/10.)

Gravity also reminds me of a movie from the past 6 years,
....................Wall-E................
, for reasons obvious to those who saw both.

Third in my list of reminders is Super Mario Galaxy. No, it didn't invent the idea of gravity, obviously.

Finally, another video game. The ending of
Sonic Adventure 2
. Yeah, I'm weird. Again, the game didn't invent the idea of "doing things in space", it's just what I thought of.
Just in case you guys were wondering, Orson Scott Card decided to give his non-review of Gravity:

Another example of Card's exquisite taste in film and relevant finger on the cultural pulse.
Ender's Game is such an original story.

Do you still love Prometheus?

Anyway. Gravity. Stunning, stunning film. I can't imagine being more impressed walking out of a cinema screen than I was on Friday afternoon this year.

Saw Gravity today, finally opened here. As good as everyone said, really great performance by Bullock too. Best movie of the year no doubt.

Comparisons to 2001 are inane.

Saw this a couple of days ago. I wasn't sure whether or not I'd like it, and I took my GF who isn't really into films like this at all so I was worried it would bomb for us but DAMN!

I loved it. Every minute of it. Sure, the story was implausible to an extent, but hell, I was on edge every other second. Bullock and Clooney did an incredible job, I didn't think I could enjoy the whole "2 people just talking" set up but it works. I am contemplating seeing it again so I can watch it at the IMAX. The score and visuals were stunning, I'd say this is my favourite film this year. Come at me Hunger Games and Thor.

Great performance from Sandra, and an awesome film all around. I give it a ffffffuuuuark/10

because that's what I saying fffffuuuuuck every few minutes to myself.

Saw this last night.
Couldn't see it in IMAX because they completely sold out while we were queuing, and the queue was long, so we went in for the regular 3D a little later.
Really loved it.

Despite all the visual flair it still felt quite understated, and I like that about it.
I'm pretty excited to see some Blu-Ray edition with lots of added scenes.

Just came back from seeing it.

Visually spectacular film, but that's about it to be honest (although that goes a long way). George Clooney was just so bad; such an unlikable, boring character. Absolutely zero chemistry between him and Sandra. Film is caked in melodrama. Found myself anticipating the next outrageously grandiose shitty thing to happen to Sandra Bullock's character after yet another temporary moment of relief.

Actually caught myself nearly dozing off a couple times.

But man, the visuals, the editing, the CGI... just unparalleled.

Saw it wednesday. Opening hour or so was a masterpiece. Then the melodrama came in and that ending which let it down some. Great movie overall, and Clooneys phlegmatic character was fantastic for the short time he had in it. Don't get the complaints about him.

Watched it this weekend, it was believe it or not the first 3D movie I've been to. Was debating if I should see it in 2D or 3D since I was looking forward to it so much and have always been hesitant of 3D films. Holy shit was that great, so glad I went the 3D route. Was hoping for a little more story wise but the visuals and overall experience was fantastic.

Chances are slim for it getting any noms outside of sound design and visual effects. I'm holding out on cinematography but that's wishful thinking.

Why wouldn't it get cinematography, director, best movie, and best actress nods? Its tipped for all of those imo.
