Halo 3 Hype Train Pitstop: EGM's gotta leak

Stinkles said:
Here's the part I don't get. RR Donnelly was also printing Harry Potter at the exact same time. Why didn't the tard who leaked this, leak that Harry and Ron eat it, and that Hermione kills Voldemort?
made up spoiler

I dunno if it was from RR Donnelly, but Harry Potter is leaked by way of someone taking a picture of every page of the book.

This never would happened without digital cameras. John From Cincinatti was right.

I read it compared to being about as long as Valhalla, but four times a wide. Don't recall the source.

which would make it about 3 coagulations (approximately)

Good information, still giong to get the magazine of course(I'm on a subscription :P) but yeah, nice exclusive EGM. Can't wait to peep the new lockout.

Damn that's huge.
Lazer Sniping is going to be alot of fun on that map.

And hear I thought playing 4v4 neutral bomb on coagulation was bad enough... :(

Oh well, it'll be fun hiding the bomb on a stage of that magnitude.

edit: So when are us subscribers expected to get this issue?

Shoe will you be posting an entry in your blog concerning the leak?, it's important that peolple realise it affects EGM.

I don't think so...I don't want to call *more* attention to it and get more people actively searching for info/scans. That may do more harm than good...I dunno...

I think I might just crawl into my shell and cry and not come out until the issue's actually released. That'd be the safest thing to do.

Now, I have to go deal with a rightfully unhappy Microsoft, too... sigh.

Campaign:

The Arbiter - Nothing. "No Raiden moment." Campaign is 100% MC, with Arbiter in tow for Co-op. Whether this means Arbiter won't be selectable solo at all or rules out 4 player co-op is unknown.

YESSS!!! I can now die and go to heaven happy

after i am done playing halo3

Oh boy, good luck! Hopefully Peter will take it easy on you since he is about to be big pimpin.

HALO OVERLOAD TOTAL.

I'm still getting the magazine. even though I know what information is inside, I want to see what all of this looks like.

maybe you can use it as a vehicle? lol...that would be interesting.

Wouldn't it be cool if a map was fighting ON the elephant or scarab as it's moving through an environment?

Sorta like UT2k4's desert train.

I think the article mentions you do drive it around. So it's a portable base, and the spawn points move with it.

Edit: And real bummer about the leak. I mean, I'm having a ball here but I realize this really, really sucks for EGM, Bungie and MS since they didn't want this information out in the wild yet. IIRC, the issue should be hitting by the end of next week and hopefully this ultimately won't impact sales of it. Though Shoe's meeting with Microsoft doesn't sound good. :(

4 player co-op aint going to happen boyz. Get over it.

I don't know why more games don't do it. It's always such a fun twist on the level.

Yeah, I've read it already. Leaked a couple days ago. I don't feel bad, we're still buying the book because the wife wants to read it and she sure as hell isn't going to do that staring at a computer screen. If it was leaked by an RR Donnelly employee too they sure as hell need to crack down on their security.

wouldnt have worked anyway (for campaign). still praying for a graw like mission mode though

Are the Single Player spoilers.. actual spoilers? :P Are they worth reading? Yes/no.

The spoilers just tell you that Gravemind is just Durandal assimilated into the flood to survive the collapse of the universe. You should really check it out.

It's a high-level summary of the objectives in the first three levels. Nothing huge, but it does sketch out how the first portion of the game plays out.

You know, it really would be interesting to read something about the business model/practices of magazines in this day and age, how they account for leaks and scans and whatnot. Obviously it blows for EGM that this stuff was leaked so early, but it has to be common knowledge that it would appear on the internet at sometime and I don't quite understand how important the "when" is. Is it simply just how exposed people would be to the story? Are newstand sales that impulse driven? And that's to say nothing of EGM's bizarre habit of seemingly giving away lifetime subscriptions.

Are the Single Player spoilers.. actual spoilers? :P Are they worth reading? Yes/no.
There's nothing there that isn't known really, just stuff that would be cool finding out on your own. The article expands alot more on a couple levels but I was wanting more to go over the newly announced stuff, not the details so much.

Aside from what the others have said, it apparently gives glimpses up to and of the 5th mission. Only skimmed through myself to avoid spoilers.

Ouch. I don't know where your printing is done for EGM, but I bet there will be meetings upon meetings for the next few days.

I would imagine that there's something in the contract between EGM and the print press that provides some kind of recourse. If not, there will be now.

Hornet - UNSC helicoptor only seen in Campaign mode so far. Appears to carry passengers, but God knows how, seems to expose them more than the Mancannon does.

Please tell me this friggin thing will be in multiplayer, it sounds sweet as hell!

I was just explaining to a friend on the phone what the Elephant is and it sounds so much cooler when you explain it to someone.

Guy1: "They're bringin' that dang Elephant!"

Guy 2: "OMGWFTBBQSAUCE!!"

Guy3: "Won't they think of the children?"

SHOTEH: "Hold Me!"

There was a medal in the Beta for boarding a "flying vehicle" - not boarding a Banshee. That set off speculation that there's more than one flying craft in MP, and this sure looks like it.

Thanks for locking that other frothing pile of shit Bish. Let them recommence the baseless frothing here.

Also kids, I may or may not have a faberge egg in my pants. Which is it?

I feel bad for the Cat, he is going to soon be dead or alive or both.

you have a golden egg in your pocket? DO WANT!

But Frank,

Maybe you can discuss this, maybe not.

But if the concern with Co-OP is what to do with the other player when he lags too far, why can't you just warp him like you did in the other two games?

I really don't understand how this is an issue.

PLEASE FRANK!

Always hoped one day they'd slap that Pelican in MP, but if this makes it in I'll be happy with that too.
Airborne troop transport > snipe pilot > dead troops.

I'll allow it.

Halo 3 co-op confirmed to be in the game and confirmed to not be in the game.

This was mentioned in the other thread. Halo and Halo 2 had warp triggers at the checkpoints - in between the battles. The situation he describes in the issue is on where the players are a mile apart, engaged in seperate (and large) battles each. Warping in those situations would be bad. The more open nature of Halo 3's game design presents challenges not present in the other games.

And given that he's not commenting one way or the other, and that this issue leaked from the printers and we're not even supposed to be talking about it, I doubt we'll get more than cat pictures in response.

We'll know about co-op when Bungie is ready to talk about it. A month ago, they were not. They've got two months to go. :p

I hope you are giving the printer a hard time about the leak.

And with that I think I've gotten all I can from this gif.

I feel bad for shoe and everyone at EGM. This kind of shit really pissed me off when it would happen at PC Gamer - I'd get the offending scans removed from sites wherever I could, but these days with such fast proliferation across the internet it's like playing whack-a-mole.

Some people really are just scum.

It would be horizontal shift, rather than a vertical shift, if that makes sense. It's not like in Halo 2 where one player gets too far ahead or behind the other player. In Halo 3 there are so many large areas, that two players could be participating in the same battle, but still potentially be too far apart from each other for the 360 to handle the data. Warping would be extremely awkward if the player was just getting taken out of his current battle and placed in the same battle, futher away - not because the other player was further ahead in the advancing of the level, but just because they were too far apart. Add in vehicles, and you'd have a situation where the player might want to drive back to where his battle was taking place, and he could reach it in less than a minute, but just gets warped back again right as he reaches it because it's too far from the other player.

That's probably the problem they're describing. Halo 3's levels aren't similiar to Halo 2's in that Halo 2 has tight paths that you follow to reach an objective. Halo 3 has large areas in which lots of different things are going on before you reach the next objective.

Some people might still argue that the warp thing would be better than no co-op (I am one of those persons), but I at least understand Bungie's side of things.

And it's also highly likely that nothing I've said is related to their problem.

man I'm going to be pissed if there is no online co-op.
