I'm going to have to wipe my computer to install Windows 10 Anniversary apparently. The normal update gets stuck at 99% the ISO gets stuck on "checking for updates." Then the media creation tool gets stuck at 48%. It's really silly that Anniversary is a requirement for Halo 5: Forge.

I ain't installing that anniversary update. That shit bricked my Windows until I did a rollback. Not sure if it's fixed now but I still hear people having a ton of issues with it.
In my experience I just installed and did a "refresh" did this for normal and anniversary updates. Fixes most issues as it just re-installs the OS

EDIT: Also there was a new Windows 10 update today
 
The Warthog looking so "matte" probably just has to do with how 343 handles rendering and how so much of the high-quality (read: campaign) models are matted out to the point of looking borderline cel-shaded at times; could just be an artistic choice, may have something to do with optimization / rendering everything more easily.
Eh, I think of it as military utilitarianism by design. Why would you have a bright shiny Warthog on a battlefield or parked at a base etc. To me matte is all over military equipment and vehicles. While aesthetically less pleasing to the eye it's designed that way for practicality.

When I see shiny Covie designs I think they just throw all that to the wind, sort of how they bring a plasma sword and shields to a gun fight. Split lip attention seekers :)

I just hate how the UNSC's weapons and vehicles have their logo printed on EVERYTHING. The Pelican has the logo on the inside of the door....Why? The Hydra has the UNSC logo printed on the side...Why?

How to you install the Anniversary Update? Going through the rigamarole to install W10 right now, and I'm a Mac guy so the idea of updates that don't actually update you to the latest version vexes me...

Now that we've had ample time to experience Warzone Firefight, how do you feel about the length of the respawn timers? Would you like them shortened or do you think it's fine how we have it?

Personally, I think 15-20 secs should be the max respawn time. Perhaps only 20 for betrayals, with 15 being Round 3-5. 25-30 seconds feels excessive imo.

It'd be nice if you could burn some REQ points to spawn in, but other than that I don't really have an issue.

I'd like to see one of two things:

1. the last rounds have a slighter shorter timer, as you say 15-20secs

2. you can choose your respawn location when not in a vehicle

I feel like in round 4 or 5 where it really matters so much of your time is taken in a 30 second respawn then trudging your vehicle all the way across the map, some of them take near 45-60secs to get back to the action e.g. a tank.

Definitely shorter. It's really stupid to punish the player more for dying when it's easiest to die, and when they already probably dropped something valuable.

Thing is, is 343 even listening? I haven't heard a peep from them regarding balancing Firefight.

They do some things well like the free dlc, but other things like complaints they often dont say anything. I wish they just acknowledged whether they were working on something or not. Whats the fucking secrecy??

Ugh yes shorten please, I hate being punished for this games cheap attempts at difficulty (a boltshot sniped me what?!) or a team member being a dickwad especially when I just pulled out a good REQ that I don't have much of (thats controller smashing rage right there).

this, I'm not caring about this update soo much due to it mainly updating a component I don't use (Forge) I just want to know when are they going to start focusing on fixing Firefight's issues. I'd love infection to get some balancing too but I feel thats a lost cause and we haven't heard anything about the objective gametype issue as of late.

Hopefully after this update we can finally start seeing some issues addressed before the next DLC update.

Getting a survival bonus should not add 5 more seconds to your respawn time.

Not being able to choose spawn location is really really stupid. And even for vehicles we should be able to choose as well since most maps have more than one vehicle spawn anyway, plus it could be extremely useful in scenarios like enemies spawning in base, or rounds with powerful air enemies. I mean at least I won't die like this any more.

Also I just found out jumper was banned lol.

That way, if you're playing well you don't die too often until the end you get a far better chance to wrap up the game, but poor performance and playing recklessly still has a penalty.

It's essentially an alternative to limiting the number of lives.
 
Loot crate arrived today unexpectedly, really happy with the Halo Loot and overall quality. The figurines especially are extremely well done, I feel like they're more fun than the legendary H5 statue of Chief and Locke. Can't wait to get the other figurines now.

My son claimed the satchel bag already, imma let him have that one but the Mister Chief plushy stays with me :)

The new season is just called the Fall 2016 season on Waypoint. Did they announce that seasons were going to be longer than a month again?
Hopefully they don't consider actually putting Overgrowth and Riptide in Team Arena. Those maps should be regulated to social playlists. They're fundamentally broken for competitive play .

Oh they ARE considering it, but it's based on feedback, so hopefully people have voiced the appropriate opinions.

Ofcourse whatever makes it into Team Arena will also be the HCS playlist, and the competitive scene has spoken loudly against.

Even if your at your best this game's difficulty in this mode is cheap, it fluctuates between Heroic to Legendary to WTFHOW?! each round. if you want this idea to happen the difficulty has to be lessened as well.

While the artistic choice is probably up to 343i, they still have to work within the confines of FH3's renderer (not that they can't do metal/gloss).

Maybe the wormhole stripped the wax coating.

I think this is the first time I’ve got to Onyx in both Slayer and Team Arena. Usually I just pick one playlist and grind but I managed to get placed pretty high for both playlists. Quite pleased actually.

This is HaloGaf.

Speaking of ranks, is there any particular reason they got rid of 1-50? I mean doesn't it function almost exactly the same? You rank up when you win, rank down when you lose, and the game tries to match you with people around the same rank as you.

Yep, the biggest thing with me is I've hit a wall with improving. You cant learn how to prevent a guy with a SMG/BR wrecking you off spawn because your AR/Pistol is much harder to use, you cant learn how prevent the guy with snipe/rail/scattershot from wrecking your team because its so OP, you cant learn how to deal with people crouching aroudn corners. Theres just no clear way to improve at the level im at. Makes it very discouraging. Then add the awful aiming mechanics, trash maps and bad MM and its MEHHH. If h6 isn't a big improvement, I'm done with halo.
