I am afraid to ask but what is a Dedi.
I'm sure after I post this there will be three other posts from nerds explaining.

But, it means Dedicated Server, in the GAF parlance.

Every time he has buckled down and given a thoughtful reply and balance suggestions, it is reasonable and something most everyone can agree on. The key is recognizing when he isn't trolling.
That's great, from a community standpoint.

But does he have actual experience in design?

Going to finish my gargantuan PDF on where Halo 4 misaligned with the series' core values and send it off along with my application for that design position. University graduates are meant to be spunky, and the worst thing that can happen is I'm ignored by 343, which isn't far off what I feel currently.

I'm not sure if you're joking but that link takes me nowhere.
Dont get me wrong I have no formal qualifications pertaining to the gaming industry and dont actually expect anything as much as my resume being shredded. I do have a college education and I have read multiple game development books, I'm bright and can do most things I've been given the opportunity to attempt. Within a few months I've moved to be the top producer of the #1 account within my company.

Also I'm really passionate about only like four things, and Halo happens to be one of them, and would give everything to be involved with the development of it.

People here seem to like some of my ideas...

What are your qualifications? Really.
Obviously he doesn't have qualifications in that industry but he does know:
-What a balanced game looks like
-How a Halo game should play
-What makes a game competitive
-That a ranking system is necessary
-Features that should be standard in the game (rock solid FPS rate, Servers, File Share)
-How to listen to the community

All things that 343 does not seem to understand.

Your ideas are great, don't get me wrong, but I was legitimately asking if that link was broken on purpose, or if my browser is mucking about.

If it's any consolation though, I think you'd be great as a community guy. Urk-tier perhaps?

I'd like for them to give you a shot doing something design related. You understand what makes Halo fun and 343 needs more people like that.

And, let's be honest, right now, from where the company exists within their own community, hiring and fostering a team that can define and refine Halo is more important than hiring someone who worked on a multiplayer title for three years, and perhaps doesn't understand Halo as well.

There's no more room for misjudgement, there's no more room for error. I know there's been a lot of drama in the thread recently, and yes, some of it has been over the top, but Halo really does exist on a precipice if it wants to maintain what it was half a decade ago.

I feel community wouldn't necessarily be his strong point - let him be given small projects, and work his way up, but give him something to own, and see how well he manages it.

Also, Plywood.

Halo needs two parts: refinement and innovation. Plywood + juices + vociferous and cocop = refinement.

So I've downloaded Reach GonD 3 times now and it shows up as a corrupted file when it finishes each time. Anyone else ever had this problem with GonD downloads?
Had that problem 2 times with crimson DLC.

Dont remember what fixed it, I ran the gamut of troubleshooting from cache clearing and deleting/redownloading the content/profiles.

Yeah the only issue is Reach is 6GB and I'm in Canada now, so that's definitely a bit dicey to continually download something 6GB over and over again trying to get it to work.

I'll try deleting my profile and recovering it though. I already tried running maintenance on the drive before redownloading it last time.

I thought this might be fun to look at for all you crazies in the thread:

Want to multiplayer designer at 343? Apply NOW!
Only Juices can apply, sorry.

Want to be a Creative Director at 343?
Only Josh Holmes can apply, again.

It's all in good fun Josh, don't post an angry tweet pls
They search for the wrong people, I know why they write "3 years of experience in this field bla" but because of this we get people who worked on total different games, instead of people who just played the shit out of Halo and now their stuff and the Halo balance, because right now in Halo 4 I don't see that anyone got that right at 343.

In all seriousness hire people like Juices for an example, people who made a shit ton of posts were they explain what is wrong in the game, what is done right and how to improve the false stuff. I think it wasa good start with hiring people who are known in the competive scene like Bravo, if there are others who are bright, why not them.

I would like to see an Overdoziz, Kyle, Juices or whatever instead of a person who worked on let's say the multiplayer for some dumb stuff like Fracture.

just my opinion. Damn my SPACE key is broken on my laptop, I have to paste it in lol

Ok you put yourself out there and you should be prepared for some criticism...

You have no industry experience, no multiplayer experience, list nothing about collaboration/networking/game engine/testing skill sets, don't like Halo 4 or Reach and troll a forum where developers exist. Hmmm good luck getting their attention mate.

Personally I'd rather not have a forum personality such as yourself develop against veterans of the industry who have developed previous AAA games. I'll stick with the hiring criteria of you know a professional gaming company like 343 or MS Studios thanks.

Umm... Hire juices

+1

Way to fix Halo 4, many of them obvious. This is not an all inclusive list but the ones that come to mind right away

Game settings:
Fixed loadouts
Weapons on map
Timed weapon spawns
No ordinances
No armor abilities
No sprint (willing to budge here)
Take away recoil when getting shot, add back scope breaking

Weapons:
BR = 4SK
Pistol = 5SK (12 shot clip), hitscan
No DMR -- it kills big maps. Cross maps kills with the BR mean something, DMRs do not. EX: Blood Gulch in Reach
Carbine = 8SK (faster firing speed so 2 shots = 1 with BR) - is this what it is now?
NO BOLTSHOT
Grenades = explosive perk power

Vehicles:
Can no longer be killed by bullets - like 2 and 3.
OG Warthog sound
NO MANTIS

For 2 or 3 playlists that's fine. The rest can actually be you know a new game with a fresh experience.

I can guarantee more of 343 know Juices than you. Also, they thought his 343 porn ideas were brilliant.

Also Juices is REALLY cute.

So after being part of a number of Halo OT's there seems to be a consensus that the story was a bit hit and miss. The first time I played I mildly agreed but upon revisiting just the cut scenes without the gameplay at all I now believe the story has more than enough cohesive presentation to be clear to any new comer to Halo. If you have the time watch this from start to finish but "forget everything you know about Halo" as if you are new to the series.

SPOILER WARNING: All Halo 4 Cutscenes in one YouTube video

I did this last night in one viewing session and I have to say the story fits together nicely and even covers a lot of ground. When you then watch the terminals in addition to the cutscenes you are opened up to the universe far more too. I'm not sure where my first play through "story skipping feeling" came from but it is quite a linear story told in just the cut scenes. Perhaps the not watching in one session and having game missions in between created a different flow over the couple to few days I took to complete the campaign.

Remember when you knew nothing about Halo and fired up CE the first time? What did you understand about the universe or the Covenant or a Halo ring or Cortana or why you were in cryo or why you were on Pillar of Autumn etc? You knew nothing and the game felt great to have all this mystery that unravelled as you played. After CE you then got into the first Halo books.

For me the campaign and new story derived from all the hard work by 343i into the universe and setting up the trilogy really paid off. It felt like new experiences to uncover and I wanted to watch more terminals, read more books prior to Halo 4 and post Halo 4 releasing as well as chat more on forums to get insights about the new story elements.

When viewed this way I believe the directions 343i have taken are more to regain the ability of the unknown. Everyone heralds CE as the mystery story and that nostalgia feeling then with Halo 4 343i worked hard to make everything fresh and mysterious but linked and filled with the ability to explore more.

So this forums crucifies them for not having the player know everything in the campaign the whole time? If you watch the cutscenes in the link start to finish you'll most likely arrive at the same train of thought I have. To me the campaign was a winner and the story is clear but perhaps when combined with the gameplay missions it's not presented as clearly.

Sure it could have used far less buttons and insert Cortana here/there but I enjoyed the ride immensely. Halo 4 is not as replayable as Halo 2 for example and there are issues due to the aging console hardware, especially AI quality. Anyway I for one am seriously looking forward to Halo 5 and the universe or spin offs leading up to it as well.

I don't understand your post mate. I have no desire to work at 343i and I've never stated such things. I would never compare myself to an Internet member like Juices and his aspirations to work at 343i.

I think Bravo is the right position and person to fill this community/settings gap. If you want a comparison then I prefer Bravo over Juices. My two cents.

Yes his porn is welcome :)

Yeah but Halo CE was a new universe we knew nothing of.

Chief is a super soldier.
Cortana is some kind of AI.
Covenant is religious.
Flood is a threat.
Gotta destroy Halo.

Halo CE established the universe.

Halo 2 filled it in.

In Halo 4 we already had a universe AND books on books. Halo 4 still was wtf confusing for many of the fiction whores here.
