Holy s#!t, Broly's more powerful than Goku!

Damn anime fans.

Meh, I freakin' LOVE DBZ.

But I hate anime, at least all the rest of the anime I've tried to watch besides DBZ. I really don't think the typical anime culture applies to DBZ anymore, it has transcended way passed that to become a globally loved series. I think of DBZ as the best action cartoon from my childhood.

Gohan always sucked. He was awesome once.

The Majin Buu saga needs to be ignored, that shit was stupid and ruined the perfect end that was Cell dying.

Gohan is the new protector, surpassing Goku and making sure no one will ever be a threat, Vegeta learns humility and admits he will never beat Gohan, and Goku gets to forever fight in Valhalla for a life well lived.

Then BAM stupid shit. Gohan gets lax, Goku has to come back, Vegeta is a turd again, there's Goten for some reason, and the worst of all this:

Honestly look at that and say they were being serious. I dare you. I know japan is full of weird shit, but iirc they didn't want to make any more DBZ and were all but forced to do it, so they just see what kind of crazy shit they can get away with.

You can say that about plenty of points in the series. It could have totally ended after the Freiza saga. It could have totally ended after Piccolo Daimao. Hell it could have ended after they first summoned the dragon.

Still Gohan always sucked and was awesome once. Before he became SS2 he was a nuisance and an inconvenience with subtle hints they will eventually have his moment. He killed Cell and was the most powerful dude at the time but everything else leading up to that was lame. Unless you enjoyed Gohan's High School adventures Gohan is pretty meh.

I love how Gohan basically became worthless in the Buu Saga. Being ridiculously powerful without having to go Super Saiyan, but then getting outclassed within minutes.

Agreed that the Cell Saga served as a perfect ending.

LOL at the end with the tupac song hffkkydkitgkyghhj

RIP Broley :p

But Mr. Satan/Hercule was always the strongest B^) he beat goku in the tournament , legend status.

Haha wow, just saw that DBZ rap battle, blew my mind and was hilarious

"I should call you Yamcha, cause you never win" hdbledjtejyrvkutf and that fusion at the end D:

Goku would mop the floor with broly, and if goku and vegeta would transform into gogeta ssj4, broly would not stand a chance. Nice try though, op.

I like the Buu saga because of this. It really feels like Toriyama trolling everyone, it is known that he was sick of doing the manga at that point. I remember reading some interview where he says that fans asked him to give Vegeta more exposure and he just killed him early in the saga to annoy them. He just said "fuck it" and took the universe into Dr. Slump levels of insanity.

Regarding Broly, yeah, he was pretty much a Hulk ripoff. Infinite power as he gets mad.

That's pretty obvious, given how the Buu saga was basically a return to early Dragonball comedy.

What about Mystic Gohan

I never even bothered with Buu Saga

The Buu Saga is when I finally called it quits with Dragon Ball. I don't know why magic was my crossing the line point, but it was. Thank goodness I never stuck around for the silly long haired Super Saiyans.

The end of the Freeza saga was the peak for me, though.

power levels became stupid after frieza

frieza is the ruler of the galaxy so he's stupid strong and like 120,000,000
goku is a super saiyan which is like the strongest ever so he's 150,000,000

okay

then some assholes builds some robots and a bug lizard and suddenly they're like ten times stronger than that what why. what did he make them out of, God?

i guess buu gets a pass because he's a magic demon so whatever

then gt came and well, as connoisseurs of dragonball know, heh *sips wine*

You better be more than just pissed off if Broly's coming at you. You have to be the strongest in the universe.

I want Timedog and Blame Space to fusion dance into BlameDog, I know he could beat Broly.

Team BlameDog

Why does all the Dragon Ball Z stuff in HD look like shit, I remember the art being much more detailed than that. Have they traced everything and smoothed it out in the process of bringing it up to HD?

I know in Kai they fucking traced over parts of the show in Flash. It was so fucking bad I refused to watch anymore of Kai. I mean, it was just abysmal. The animation was old and jittery and damaged then BAM perfect, solid color, no details at all Flash animation out of nowhere.

Whoever thought that looked good was blind.

And the new intro was such a cock tease, Kai's amazing intro + shitty 'fixed' animation just pissed me off so fucking bad, fuck Kai.

I never watched past the beginning of the Freeza saga... this clip makes me want to watch the whole thing. The buildup to it must have been awesome.

Cell Saga was the pinnacle of DBZ and Gohan killing Cell was the fucking best part of DBZ, no contest.

You missed the Android Saga too, which was awesome.

Buu Saga is ok.

As a whole, DBZ is great but plagued with too much filler, if your willing to settle in for the long haul I recommend it.

The amount of retarded manbaby in this thread is amazing, even on gaf standards.

Never saw that ep of DBZ, great contribution to the thread.

They made Gohan fucking dumb as shit after Cell. The Great Sayaman thing was shit and they made him a nerd that was weak. Gohan in the alternate timeline Trunks movie was fucking awesome though.

I think they coulda cut the Fat Buu and Mr. Satan stuff, and Fat Buu altogether and started out with Super Buu the big tall one.

No one has really brought up GT yet. My thoughts on it is, that I liked the concept of mixing Dragon Ball and DBZ and blending them together more, but they fucked it up real bad. I didnt see much but I remember half the series being kid Goku, Trunks and Pan looking for Dragon balls, so it was like a remake of Dragonball. And then Baby the super mega robot came, Vegeta got possessed again. Super Saiyan 4 was cool but making Vegeta have to cheat to become one was lame. There was something with 7 evil dragons... and then the fusion thing got out of hand. There was SS4 Gogeta, the strongest character in the entire Dragonball universe ever, kinda over kill, hes pretty much God. But like, they used the fusion dance so it only lasted like a half hour, and instead of SS4 Gogeta killing the head evil dragon he just fucks around and taunts him and wastes his half hour being a troll. GT had cool ideas but it was a colossal clusterfuck afaik.

Cell was made out of DNA from Goku and like 9,000,000 other fighters or something like that.

Goku going from "over 9000" to the millions by training on a space capsule for a few months was weak as fuck.

The series really went downhill once Vegeta was no longer the most powerful Saiyan.

Goku's power level was ~8000 around the time of his fight with Vegeta. That is without Kaioken training. Now eventually he was subjected to a period of training at 100x earth's gravity. Say Saiyan physiology could actually withstand that sort of retardedly immense training stimulus, and we could apply this sort of logic to a power level training methodology... It is not so crazy when you consider the context, especially given that saiyans bounce back from near death experiences with significant boosts in power every time. Goku went through two, his fight with Vegeta and the gravity incident.

the whole point of dragonball z is the one upping, the new form, the ultimate boss, the new transformation. that's the whole appeal of the series that keeps 10 year old boys glued to their seat.

smh

I didn't have a problem with one-upping. It's just that from the moment Vegeta lands on Namek, the one-upping increases on a logarithmic scale when it should have increased on a linear scale.

goku and vegeta spend like 25 years training and almost dying and getting trained by actual gods and they're at "pretty high" level for frieza's soldiers

then like a year later they're literally 1,000 times stronger

Cell should get a pass too because he's made from the DNA of so many different fighters then went around absorbing people/power. The androids are ridiculous though. Frieza was the king of the universe but Dr. Gero can knock together some cyborgs that would completely obliterate him. Pity none of the dozens of planets Frieza conquered thought of just building an unstoppable fighter.

Wasn't there an OVA where Broly lives and it took Goku, Gohan and Goten to defeat him... only to be later on cloned?

The first Cooler movie was pretty damn boring. The only reason I watched it so often when I was younger was because it was the first movie Goku turned SS in.

the exponentiality factor for supersaiyans

plus lets be real goku was fucking around in the mountains riding turtles and boning his wife in between dragonball and z, and vegeta was pretty much running around planets murdering the little murloc men from warcraft 3 not doing shit.

cell being as powerful as he is makes sense, he's a composite of top tier nameks, saiyans, humans, and frieza/king cold, plus bioengineered with android tech. he should be ridiculously strong.

That was inevitable since anything Toriyama came up with wouldn't make sense since Frieza was the most powerful being in the universe.

However, the series DID try to handwave it by showing how the androids weren't stronger so much as they just never got tired so they could just wear down a Saiyin. Vegeta and 18 are about equal but it's specifically said that she'd lose if the rest of them helped Vegeta.

Also I'm 10 years old again.

I hated how DBZ handled all the side characters. Where the hell is my boy krillin at? Remember when he was considered to be equal to Goku? lol.

Yamcha and Tien were practically non-existent.
