Horizon Forbidden West will launch on PS4 too

Pretty disheartening, I wonder what kind of sacrifices in design they had to make to do this. Also weird to see Demon's Souls coming to PC. Like, why? What's the benefit?
 
Utter dogshit. The mere fact that developers have to even think about shitty tablet-level Jaguar cores from something like 2011 is going to hold next-gen games back. I just want to fucking time travel to 2022. Fuck this shit!

Hmm. That's a little disappointing, but not too surprising. It was actually something I initally thought -- that they wouldn't want to leave their 120 million PS4 install base behind. I mean, that would be kind of nuts, from a business point of view. That is a massive customer base.

They did indicate (unless I'm mistaken) that most of their exclusives would be built only for PS5. They might've left some wiggle room in their statements, I can't remember.

Oh well. I have confidence that Guerilla will take full advantage of PS5. I mean, this is Hulst's studio, and they did a fantastic job with the original game.

The game will sell millions on steam, that's a lot of money. You really think they'll lose millions of sales on PS over this? I don't.
 
Fuck. A lot of horrible news today, this actually made my hype for the PS5 to go down quite a few notches. I need to learn to temper my expectations. So much wasted potential.

It's a pitance compared to what they get from every third party sale and microtransaction. No one gives a shit about a few million copies on steam, when you can get a piece from EVERYTHING. It doesn't make sense to me, it's not even marketing for PS5. No reason to get one if you already have a very good graphics card.

Actually, the ONLY next-gen feature will be real-time ray-tracing. The rest, on paper, is just current gen on steroids.

You guys need to chill, this isn't a political campaign. I'm a 100% Sony fan and I think it sucks they have constrained those games to that shitty Jaguar CPU. Not everything is stupid console war bs.
 
I feel redeemed and disappointed at the same time. I wanted all the Sony fans to get their true "next gen only experiences" but as i've always said, there is just TOO much money in existing PS4 install base and the money they make by bringing games to PC for Sony to ignore it. There is no way Sony was going to put out their big AAA titles as PS5 only for the first year if not two.
 
This is the most dissapoint news from today. Really depressing. Talking about 'we believe in generation'... My ass.

Sony always has to cut the prices of their games to make sales. They wouldn't be going to PC if they didn't need to.

Dude those things will still be there, this won't really effect PS sales is what i'm saying. Also I don't think they meant to anounce it's coming to PC yet, hence why the trailer is down now. anyway we're off topic oopsy!

Oh holy shit this is gonna expose some hypocrites hahaha. Big PS5 exclusives that have been touted as showcasing the power of next gen are now actually confirmed as cross gen hahahahaha. Amazing
 
I was going to give Horizon sequel a go even if i wasn't a fan of the first one because i though that at worst i would have cool flying robo dinos and at best better exploration without invisible walls and a more fleshed out combat system...but now this? the invisible walls and flying mounts were supposedly hardware limits so they either are not coming now or the PS4 version is going to be like those cross ports of the PS2 era, either way. What a shitty decision.

It's been like what? 3 years? i'm already missing Shuhei Yoshida on charge of WWS ...

Damn, I am genuinely surprised considering how good it looked. But Guerilla has repeatedly proven their technical proficiency so I'm confident that the game will make full use of each console.

Getting a few million sales from Steam doesn't do fuck all to the bottom line and might actually hurt the PS business by making the console less attractive.

I feel ya on this. But keep in mind that it will look best on PS5. The PS5 games will look better than anything we're playing on PS4. Even better looking games will be released in the years to come!

And maybe this will restore some of your hype. Breath of the Wild released on Wii U and Switch. It was my first Switch game, and it is easily one of the best games I've ever played. Just because a game will release on PS4 doesn't mean it can't be the best game you've ever played.
