Initial D Extreme Stage (PS3)

The AE86 top-of-the-line had 112 hp. And is a good car for learning how to drift.

Yeah, 112hp at the crank. A friend of mine recently dyno'd his stock GTS; put down a massive 65hp. :lol

It's also a giant piece of crap (the engine is totally fine, though, it has less than 100k on it!). It's a great car, I agree, but not in its stock 20 year old beat to shit form. Car needs a LOT of TLC to be decent, let alone good. Definitely not for car newbies. But this is way OT.

OT: There's like zero chance of this coming to 360, right? :lol

So your were serious before :P

Nah, i believe you. IT IS a old car, after all. Is good for learning the ropes of drifting, but not much more.

Hey so I think I just found the game I'm going to get after my MGS4 bundle :D

(Haven't even really played since 2nd stage, but oh man am I on this.)

In addition to a visual update, the big new feature for the home is an online racing mode. Similar to the arcade version's "National Tournament" mode, players can rise in class by beating other racers and gain access to even tougher opponent classes.

The arcade version also let online players customize their characters. Sega hasn't announced this for the home version yet, but it sounds like a likely feature to us!

Solo drivers can look forward to an updated version of the arcade's single player mode, Koudou Saisoku Densetsu (this name translates to something along the lines of "Legend of the Fastest on the Road"). Over 20 rivals will appear in this story mode, which uses the PS3 for high quality shading.

There's really nothing on the site right now though.

Single player only?! Unless the "Playstation Network Compatible" feature includes online multiplayer, it's a disappointon total.

Queen Mary 2 (world's largest passenger ship) drifting hard!

I'll only consider this game if there is a racing wheel attachment for the PS3. I can't even imagine playing Initial D with a controller.

Any source other than Playasia that confirms this game actually exists?

I've played the series to death on PS2,PSP and spent a silly amount of money on the arcade versions and would love a port of Arcade Stage 4 on PS3.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've bought both the PS2 and the PSP versions when they were released.

I've also been playing ID since the import V1 came out (at an Asian mall I usually visit) AGES ago. I've stopped playing heavily after V3 and I have not really tinkered with V4 but I'll bite with this.

If there is a god they'll have online battles!!!

How much are those attachments? As much of an initial D fan I am even I have a hard time justifying paying $500 for the console, $70 to buy the game, and then another $150 to make the game fun. $720 for one game is a little too much for me, since I don't have a PS3, and a 360 is just not going to happen.

I was a very hardcore player (tourneys, world rankings etc) until version 3 came out and all time attacks became an excercise in the various forms of "eraser" techniques.

Was not impressed with Special Stage but I might try this out since I have the G25 now.

you could buy the PSP or PS2 versions if you're cheap and don't want online play or spend $20k+ for the arcade.

$400 ps3, $60 game and you can get away with the $90 DFP. that's $550 before taxes.

I didn't think there would be so many ID players on the forum...Nice to see. I'm sure I'll get my ass handed to me online, but it "should" still be a good time...and cheaper:lol

sorry, had to be done. Another day one for me, this week's announcements have been tremendously expensive.

Wangan Midnight's always tempted me too, I might spring for that after payday.

does anyone know if sega is going to bring this to the U.S.? i might have to import this on day one.

Oh I missed this...

I don't think we'd see it in NA. There has not been a US ID game release on the other versions of the ID games out so far...I'd be looking at some importing options...

Oh and I'm going in blind...PRE ORDERED!

T_T Those screens are a big disappointment. I know its Initial D, and the arcade didnt look any better when it came out, but man do those graphics look like circa 2001.

SEGA.

I -need- custom soundtracks for this game. I want to battle against Bunta while listening to Beat of the Rising Sun in 720p.

Either enable soundtracks for the PS3 version or release this also for 360.

Please Sega? PLEASE?

if you're considering this game for it's graphics, you're looking at the wrong reasons. this game is about drifting and fun! (vs people). vs cpu is still fun, but it's always more fun to play vs a friend.

I know what the game is about. Im just saying that they could at least make the game look a little bit more...2005ish. I mean, if Wangan Midnite can look like this

why cant Initial D? And Wangan, I believe, isnt as big or as influential as Initial D.

well is not a GT game, is all about the gameplay and funness, and i think the graphic are not that bad.

today's famitsu issue says the release date is July 3, 2008, not May as previously published. still early, but soutahouse is very reliable in the last few months.

Initial D didn't even look good for PS2 game, so I'm not really surprised that it doesn't look like a PS3 game.

But hey! The PSP version looked fantastic!

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol this thread is ridiculous!

i can't wait to see some decent media of this. hopefully it's interesting.

It'll probably a port of the Arcade game, Stage 4.

I played the arcade version already and its pretty meh.

Uh, it is a port of Stage 4.

Anyone know if this supports the G25? Would make the G25 even more appealing for me outside of my GT5P.

Not the anime/manga series, yeah, it's been continually overshadowed by Initial D. But after the initial wave Namco came out and busted Sega's balls again with a longer-lasting franchise in the Wangan Midnight arcade machines. While ID Stage 4 seems to be floundering despite the next-gen (?) hardware, Wangan Midnight 3 is blazing up the charts.

I'm quite sure the arcade release of Wangan has reignited interest in the series as a whole.

Anyway - enough Wangan. Initial D Stage 4 is actually not too bad as now you can customise characters and car parts, which I think is great. But it does feel like something is missing in the latest release - and it's not the cars nor the characters.
