Wrong, that was thanks to Shawn Layden. Jim Ryan dont have the vision to buy great studios, and dont tell me that he brought Bungie because LOL.
He was obviously involved in making those decisions, but you really can't believe it was all up to him, considering he wasn't even the CEO of SIE.
Well, he was the head of the WWS, so he was in charge for the choices. Approval was probably the only thing that the CEO did about.
Shawn Layden Says Insomniac Acquisition Is One Of His Greatest Achievements - PlayStation Universe
Ex-Sony boss Shawn Layden has looked back on the acquisition of Insomniac Games, saying it’s one of its biggest achievements.www.psu.com
Insomniac worked with Sony since the '90s.
Shawn Layden was head of SIE Worlwide Studios (now known as PS Studios) only during a year and a half until he was replaced by Hermen Hulst in September 2019.
Jim Ryan was their boss, became CEO of SIE (PS Studios is a subsidiary of SIE) in April 2019 and acquired Insomniac in August 2019.
As the CEO of SIE, Jim Ryan signed the acquisition of Insomniac, Bungie, Housemarque, Bluepoint, Nixxes and all the other ones, plus all the 2nd party and 3rd party exclusives and deals. Plus the SIE initiatives PlayStation Indies, China Hero Project or India Hero Project.
