Is this not the greatest intro ever?

I love many Namco games intro, but I like very much Tekken 5 intro+song
In particular, check at 1:00, I love that passage (music+video moment):

As much as I hate to say it, I gotta stick with FFVIII for my favorite intro ever. It sets up the story in a way that you HAVE to play the game. I saw that intro at a friend's house and went straight down to a Shopko, picked up a PlayStation and the game and played the heck out of it for days on end.

Hmmm... lemme think... nope, it's not :lol

Anyway, I saw you posted Blizzard intros, and talking about Blizzard cinematics, the one at the end of Starcraft: Broodwar will live in my memory forever. :) Which reminds me, is there a thread like this for endings? It would probably be very
dark
.
the ffx-2 pop song thing doesnt really do it for me. hmm i need to play brood war :|
i agree chrono cross has a nice opening too.

xenogear intro all the way up to the town being destroyed was also pretty cool... the game had some compelling aura of mystery...

also, yeah, chrono cross as well...I really quite like the music in it

peace

Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjnnKhODe_M

still kinda gives me chills

Ah... I love this thread. Such great memories.

That said though, it's an utter shame what they've turned the battle tech universe into nowadays... if you have a look at those old activision intros, they very much exuded the feel of how the battle tech universe should be.

Even the first Mechwarrior 2 was perfect; ominous, dark, violent and brutal warfare. The subintros were pretty great as well... made me remember how awesome and atmospheric the MW2 sound track was (still one of the better sound tracks to this day).

They really should reprise Mechwarrior... not spinoff segues like Mech Assault... with their chunky, toy like mechs. Pissed me off that game.

Reprise mechwarrior, and pay homage to it in the style of the Mechwarrior 2 intros, done justice with today's machines.

But we all know that won't happen... after all, it's the same company that's rooted up the Shadowrun license so badly (Counterstrike clone? Even if it's a decent game... why?! Why do you need to use the shadowrun license? Sheesh).

I know fancy intro are basically standard now. They're bigger, louder and more cinematic. But God back in the day...

1997. My brother and I had been saving and scrimping for a year and a half. We finally bought our Playstation and this was the first thing we saw out of it. Blew our minds. We had never experienced anything like it. The CG, the music. How pumped it got you.

In fact I'd go so far to say Tekken 3 is right there with Super Metroid as the highest quality, most fun, most played games I've ever owned.
Also Brian and the "tree" character endings was fantastic.

my vote goes to Megaman 2. Best intro ever.
