Hell no wait until after you do it blind...this is one of the best games ever to do completely blind..so many little secrets and no instructions makes it a treasure trove of exploration and using yor own strats. I would rather spend 3 hours on one colossus rather than look at a wiki, just because I know that if I just figure out a new strat or trick, it will eventually come together...it always does...
Glad I caught this thread, this is probably the first youtube Let's Play that I've actually enjoyed watching. I really like her play style. I probably won't go back and watch too much of the Soul's games(seen enough of them for a while), but I'm all in for SotC.
Is there a reason she didn't finish or ever go back to Fez?
She didn't like the platforming.
Yeah her ps4 broke so it's on holdDid she say anything about Bloodborne?

Ah fuck.
Now they go down like flies, indeed.
This game is much better at Hard, to be honest.
It should've been the standard difficulty.
On Hard many hits that look like they should 1hitKO you, actually do, and Colossi usually have multiple stab points to hit, making the battles a little bit more engaging and complex.

Spoke too soon, since Number 8 was more challenging than i was expecting.
No more baby stabs tho, that's one reason to celebrate.
Also, i hope she isn't expecting a whole lot of cut scenes, even by the end.
not that she cares but the cut scene at the end triggers an automatic third party violation on you tube.
Colossus' 11 and 14 are the ones that suck and can lock you into an unbreakable death combo.Latest video is 47 minutes, guess she got a bit stuck.
It's not unbreakable. You just need to mash buttons and/or wiggle the stick to get up faster. To be fair, the game never tells you that.Colossus' 11 and 14 are the ones that suck and can lock you into an unbreakable death combo.
Also, this boss would've been much easier if she knew about the plunging stab (R1 + [ ] when falling down).
Gets you maximum stab damage and it's instantaneous, and on this Colossus, very easy to perform, since you always have the upper ground.
Why wouldn't she care? That sucks ass, btw.
Why would they even do that?
I agree, but I have to say that I think SOTC likely influenced the souls series quite heavily...there were even a few people from Japan Studio that worked on producing both, so the ideas were around. Tower knight and Adjudicator in particular were probably a direct inspiration imo.Caught up with the last 4 episodes.
Not sure who told her this was like Dark Souls, storytelling wise.
They both are mysterious about their lore and story, but whereas Dark Souls has a LOT of exposition (just delivered in obtuse ways) SotC (and Ico, to a lesser extent) just leave those spaces blank.
I've mentioned this in the past, but SotC is about the emptiness.
Everything from the art style, the level design, the game design, the controls, the soundtrack and, of course, the story, is playing with the idea of void next to immense emotional bursts.
It's certainly not a game for everyone, especially if you're expecting a village with npcs to talk to, or a cave with a special sword upgrade in it, or if you expect them to tell you the 500 years backstory of the world, but if you enjoy even just calmly exploring around with Agro, finding a tortoise, stop at a puddle to see the horse drink, just for the sheer pleasure of it, as opposed to expecting a tangible reward, then you're gonna love it (like i did).
I remember when the game first came out, back in 2006, i had a LOT of discussions (on another forum) with Zelda fans who got burned by this game expecting something in that nature, so i can see how it can betray expectations.
Incidentally enough, Dark Souls is much closer to a reimagining of classic Zelda, than SotC.
In terms of storytelling, i would compare Shadow of the Colossus to something like Koyaanisqatsi, Baraka or Samsara.
They may seem like a montage of striking, pretty images at first, but soon enough the visuals create a very strong narrative context, even without any words.
I think SotC is very similar, there isn't a ton of text to describe what the world is, but there are plenty of thematic dsign elements tying it all together.
Swift Horse is my favourite track.
When's that? i know the track but i can't remember against which colossus it is.
Yes.I always figured those were horse tassels of sorts for decoration. Didn't think you could climb them. Do you reach the weak point straight away like that?
