Kay Plays |OT|

Edit: Oops I see this was already discussed. Glad I'm not insane. I checked some of her SoTC videos and she actually confirmed that she processes her voice up higher to someones comment on the same subject.

Now, let's not jump to conclusions...

Don't worry Kay, everyone suck at using Dormin.

I really want her to play ICO now.
I'm not a huge fan of it as i am of SotC, but i think it's still a cool (if frustrating at times) game, and it ties nicely with SotC.

Plus is like, what, 2 hours?

I wouldn't have been a fan of Shadow of the Colossus. I was getting bored even with the jump cuts. Just in case someone happens to see this before finishing watching, or playing the game for themselves, spoilers:
It didn't look like there's a story to find on your own, just a huge Hyrule Field alike area between each boss fight. I like that it was apparently tough to control Dormin (I'd infer that the main character and Dormin are having an inner struggle, and so maybe muddling the controls), and that it lets you try to escape the whole sword purification destruction whatever thing that was going on after that, even though you very likely can't. I don't think those two short moments would've been enough for me at the end of it all though. The game seems too mysterious to even bother trying to answer its questions. It's not even a sure thing that Dormin was actually bad. Maybe that's the point, that people can insert their own interpretations so easily, but I don't feel there would be much to reinforce them. It's too empty for me to care. I probably just don't get it.

Wonder if she'll play Ico next. I'd assume she's still not set up for Bloodborne.

I did notice Kay said something along the lines of "I've got a bunch of other stuff to record" after the credits rolled. Presumably she had recorded all of SotC vids at least a week ago, so maybe she has already done a few episode of whatever she is doing next...

...or Bloodborne. I have never seen people get mad in Kay's YT comments before, but I think they might if they don't get Bloodborne.

It's a little too soon to expect their PS4 to be returned, no? Unless the RMA process had be initiated long before her mentioning it.

She said a couple of episodes ago she would probably finish SOTC before even uploading the first so probably about two weeks ago.

Considering how long it is, ICO needs to be played. And I'm sure she'd appreciate the retroactive callbacks.

Yeah that's my point.

I think last time i played (granted i remembered some of the puzzles solutions from back in the day) it took me like 2 and a half hours to beat.

I have decided Kay should play the Metal Gear Solid series as I don't think there is enough trees in the world for her to write enough notes down to understand it
nonono

I wouldn't want to lose Kay for that long by going into a series I have no interest in watching.

I liked her choice of SotC, but it's eerie that I've heard her complaint of "there's not enough to it" (in terms of plot and meaningful exploration) repeated by a friend of mine who I recommended the game to very recently. Maybe 2015 is a different time than 2006.

For the next game... how about Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments? Friendly mysteries/ crimes to solve with a decent presentation and ripe for Detective Kay roleplaying. :D

Kay would probably decimate Bloodborne with the way combat is set up in that game. I do hope she can play it because it would be fun to watch her explore that world.

It probably takes about 4-5 hours the first time, there's a trophy for completing it in less than 2 hours and you basically have to speedrun it to get it.

It's probably not her style of game (in both content and gameplay), but come to think of it, the Hotline Miami games have cleverly constructed plots with lots of hints peppered throughout.

I can see Kay frantically scribbling down the mission dates to create a coherent timeline. :D

Is that the one where you can still make a feasible accusation, motive and MO, end up with a wrong suspect, and not know that you messed up at all?

That's the one!

There's an option to let you know at the end of a case whether you got the right perp, but it's optional.

It's not the most difficult of games, but you do have to put a little thought into connecting the various clues in some of the cases. It does not automagically resolve the case for you, even if you gather all the clues. And without having all the information, it's actually not too unlikely to come to a perfectly logical... but incorrect conclusion.

It was fascinating watching Kay figure out each colossi (even though these videos proved that as much as I loved playing SotC, I get frustrated as hell watching others do so :p)- but her tinge of disappointment regarding the overall story presentation was a downer.

I just adore the simplicity of SotC's overall story.
There's enough there to tell you what's happening (simply a man going on an impossible mission to bring a dead loved one back), enough given to you by the end (it was forbidden for him to do this and his people were pissed at him for doing it, he's
being used by Dormin to unleash his sealed power
, etc.), and there's still aspects left up to interpretation. No real deep backstory, just enough to leave up to the audience's imagination.

The loneliness of the game is remarkable.
The way Ueda crafted (and told) the stories of ICO & SotC are just masterfully done, IMO. I hope Kay plays ICO just as a companion piece to SotC- and maybe she will get more out of it knowing going in that it also has that minimalistic storytelling approach?

Shit... can't believe it's been damn near 10 years since we've had a new Ueda game. :(

Kay does not counteract Minecraft in a way to make it at all watchable to me, so I could not watch more that 5 minutes of that video. I am sad.

Also, the amount of HUD there made my head spin

Sad to bump this thread with not so great news but she posted this in a comment on the Shadow of the Colossus finale vid:

Question: kay where are you, i've been holding back on watching the bloodborne lore for so long now my head is going to implode

Kay said:
+Sebastian Nordqvist Aw, please don't wait up on me. I've got no idea when I might get around to Bloodborne.

I can't wait!

Enjoy dat 5 seconds at most loading reduction. I would love to be wrong and eat crow, though, it's a top three game for me.

I have other stuff to do, and i prefer to jump into the game when i can give it full attention, instead of playing 1 hour every 3 days; the patch it's more of an arbitrary timeline i gave myself.
I know it won't change much.

I'm sure the patch will bring a few good changes not just speed up loading but hopefully fix the framerate studder and who knows what else. I'm trying to go slow so I don't beat the game before the patch but it's hard to hold back!

The load times are not all that bad really. Unless you just can't stay alive long lol, then it would be frustrating no doubt. Averages around 30 seconds for me. Long sure, but there is no loading at all between areas so that is a major plus. You can run from the forbidden forest all the way to the opening clinic without stopping if you want with not a single load to be seen.

I'm pretty much used to the loads by now. Don't even think about them anymore.

Past games also didn't have loading, for the most part, but it's not really a comment on whether it's justified or not.

I was doing the 3rd boss,
blood starved beast
, and after dying 3 or 4 times, the loading did start to get to me a bit.

I'll get back to it when i can get my head into the game.

Reading one of the latest comments in her video it looks like the next game might be Shadow of Mordor.

I wonder if Kay is ever going to play bloodborne. How long does it take for a PS4 to be repaired?

Let's start another embarrassing conspiracy!
-
Shadow of Mordor it's sort of a repetitive game.
I had fun playing it, but watching it can very well be a bore-fest, after a couple of episodes.

Yeah I'm going to pass on Mordor.

I have a fear that Bloodborne may just be too scary for her. She's said in the past that she can't play horror games because they are too intense. The souls games have always come close but I think Bloodborne may be too much? I hope not, there's no other playthrough I'm looking forward to other than Kay plays Bloodborne.

Was not expecting Mordor.

Seem to be a weird choice for her. Very mechanics heavy game with a limited story compared to what it could have been. The game needs a lot of concentration. She'll get surrounded by orcs and not be able to talk for minutes on end!

I think it will be fun for a while though.

Hm, shame about Mordor. I don't think watching her play an open-world game will be very interesting. She should play what she wants to play, of course, but I think I will be passing on this one. I'm not particularly interested in that game.

I hope she plays Bloodborne soon though!

I'll watch Mordor, Kay's commentary is interesting and I haven't seen much of the game.

Bloodborne doesn't have any jump scares and is more low-key horror, so I think it'll be fine whenever she gets around to it (Considering Shadows of Mordor is open world, it might take a while).

I'd love to see Kay work her way through The Last Express. It would go down terribly with her viewers who tune in for her quick thinking and reactions, but I think it'd be a very neat game for the methodical, curious, detective-like Kay.

Yeah, that could be nice.

Seeing that The Last Express is one of my all time favorite point and click games, that would be awesome.
