Last Day of Steam Sales: The List of $2/$5/$10 games

Hot damn. If I buy a copy for myself, and buy a gift for another gaffer, can I greedily claim 2 freebies? Hope I'm not overstepping here - my intentions would be to give away the extra codes to more gaffers. I bought the PSN version eons ago, but I'd double dip for this.

its under $2.

Doesn't really feet to thread but the Pendulo Adventure pack is 14.99$.

Each game can also be bought seperatly with 75% off.

I'd recommend TNBT, in spite of some illogical puzzles. It's silly and has some good funny bits. The reviews for Yesterday weren't glowing - seems like illogical puzzles + self-serious illogical plot. The Runaway games I've heard people who loved them and people who hated them.

its under $2.

It's cold outside. Your turn!

Seriously though. I used up all my wallet funds and had no intention of buying it (or anything else for that matter) again. This would make me go beyond what I'd earmarked for the sale.

Dark Void for 4.99

Worth it?

I like Dark Void. While the vertical cover is a gimmick its actually a pretty great gimmick. Going cover to cover up and down isn't any different mechanically then on the ground but the way it looks and feels is great. I actually think the game got worse the more jet packing there was. Also there is a TERRIBLE escort mission late in the game that lasts up to an hour. Easily the worst level from any game this gen.

Also I'll 5th (or whatever it is) Waves. I love some of the songs on the soundtrack. I wish it was available on steam. I wonder if it is on itunes or anything

I haven't played Rocketbirds but PSNstores sold me on their podcasts awhile back. I was waiting for the Vita version but since its so cheap I bought it on steam

Is there something wrong with the Broken Sword remake?

The remake of 1 omits clicking on certain random objects and using items on stuff that would've resulted in the characters making a quip about them. From TVtropes:
Also, a lot of the random junk you could examine in the original is taken out in the Director's Cut, averting it here as well. A lot of the time, it really is just some funny observations or unimportant descriptions. But an entire character gets cut at one point.

EDIT: Dark Void Zero is also $2.49:

Any great RPGs under 10 other then the Y's games? I still have plenty of money to spend, but I'm looking for RPGs.

The Witcher 1 is a fantastic RPG, and it's $2.50. Thoroughly recommend it if you haven't played it.

Awesome list!!

Here are a few games I played and finished that I recommend

Critter Crunch (plus you can get a 2nd copy to gift right here)
Machinarium
Blocks That Matter
Sequence
Psychonauts
Binding of Isaac (my most played game on steam)
Bit. trip runner
Winterbottom
Toki Tori (where is the "people who didn't like Toki Tori/racist" graph when you need it? :p)
Limbo

I have several more but still need to play them. Not enough time

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.
I don't think that has anything to do with this thread? Also, that's the last day of every Steam sale ever, I dunno why you're noticing this now.
No, Mileena's point is applicable here. A fair number of the games in Mr. Orange's posts have already been flash/daily/community deals even though they aren't noted as such. Spirits, Half Minute Hero, Binding of Isaac, Snapshot, Unmechanical, Bit.Trip Runner, FTL, Little Inferno, Ys Origin and Felghana, Grimrock, and Clash of Heroes...off the top of my head.

Not saying these games aren't worth buying at their non-flash/community/daily deal prices, but yeah.

There's a lot namedropped in the OPs so I'll probably make another post with the games I recomend later, maybe.

Any recommendations on a game my wife might like? Something not too difficult that doesn't requiring twitch gameplay reflexes.

Oh. Hmm. I'll look into the original, although $2 for the trilogy off Steam is pretty cheap.

I hate this topic. I thought I was already done, but Knights of Honor looks right up my alley. The pics remind me a lot of Stronghold.

Oh god this is going to cost me...

Hard Reset is a steal for $3.74, hard game but definitely recommended.
looks very pretty! Does it compare to something like BulletStorm?
and what makes it so hard?

Machinarium

Binding of Isaac (my most played game on steam)
What's Machinarium like?
And what's so amazing about binding of isaac?

I'm considering Fable: The Lost Chapters, should I just get Witcher 1 instead or are they incomparable?

Fable 1 is fine but the Witcher is 100x the game Fable is. It's not close.

I never played The Lost Chapters but I thoroughly enjoyed the original Fable on Xbox. The Witcher was also really fun but I never got to finish it due to a serious bug that prevented me from finishing a story quest.

It depends if you're looking for a serious, mature game (Witcher) or a cartoony fantasy game (Fable). Combat is a lot more gritty in Witcher (mainly using swords and different potions to buff yourself), a lot more flamboyant in Fable (you end up using a lot of spells to shoot lightning, slow time, create shockwaves). You can also get married and buy houses and get tattoos in Fable, and it has a morality system. The Witcher has more nuanced choices that aren't good or bad, but have serious repercussions to the story an hour or two after you make them.

They're both good games.

Quick note in case people missed it in the other thread...

Anyone from GAF that grabs Critter Crunch for $1.74 during the sale should shoot me a PM and I'll pass you a code for a free second copy.

WORD UP.

Already have it, but WORD on a super nice offer <3

man, so many decisions, so little cash.

looks like I'm definitely getting machinarium and sine mora (from gmg) for a total of $5.
I wasn't planning on spending more than $10, so that leaves me with either Fable or Space Channel 5 (been on my wishlist forever), or Witcher 1 and another game for $2.50 (can't be going under that limit :p)

- Fly'n
- Giana Sisters

Machinarium is an adventure game, not hard on the puzzles, simple but nice story, great visuals and amazing sountrack

And BoI is a roguelike with randomly generated floors and rooms, you star on the basement killing stuff, and finding items that make you more powerful or less, depends on your luck :p
Until you fin the boss of the floor, once beaten you go down another floor.

There are like 8 floors at first, but then you unlock more, as well as more items as you defeat bosses or do certain stuff.

Once you die you start all over again.

I don't know if that's what you'd like but I found it very addicting

Check the other thread or ask if someone would like to gift it to you, it was in the last HiB, so there are a lost of keys going around

I can't speak to Fable, so I can't compare, but just a heads up on what you would be getting into with the Witcher. It's a pretty lengthy game (I think I put 40ish hours into a playthrough), and a good chunk of the early stuff amounts to fetch quest boredom that might put you off. People seem to love or hate the combat, which is based around switching sword-types and attack stances depending on the enemies you encounter, and chaining strikes on enemies by clicking them in a sort of timing sequence as the animation plays out. I loved the combat, and it is really dynamic when you get used to it - but there is a bit of a "getting used to it" curve. The environments were/are really pretty, and there's good variety. The fiction and the characters are also really well done. It's got a real unique sense of identity.

Just to mention, if you don't pick it up, or if you pick it up but don't plan on playing it for a while - don't play the sequel first. I found it really difficult to go back to the first one after enjoying the improvements of the second.

May I have a cookie?
machinarium and BoI stuff

Witcher 1 stuff

thanks both of you for the explanations. I'll be going with machinarium cause it looks gorgeous, BoI being a roguelike kind of turns me off. If I have time for one roguelike this season I want it to be FTL.

Witcher 1 also sounds like something that requires more time than I currently have, plus I usually prefer games that don't take themselves so seriously, so I think I'll go with Fable.
Lovely avatar btw, Deckard ;)

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
It wasn't listed in the OP (probably because it's an expansion, not a standalone game), but Civ 5 Gods and Kings is under $10 as well ($7.49 to be exact).
