Mr Mike

1 million Canadian dollars
That's the one I was eyeing off. What's it like? More importantly does it have a pick a brick wall?

Yep, pretty decent size too.
Only downside is that I've been every March or so for the last few years and a few times it has been sold out of some key sets I'd planned to buy while there (due to VIP x2 or favourable exchange rates, etc) - the actaul range seems a bit smaller than other LEGO stores.

I love them. There's actually a ton of new moulds. Heads and hair etc compared to a regular minifig series. I don't think the Simpsons would ever have worked with regular heads (the look odd in that lego Simpsons episode) but the regular heads look good to me here. Mr incredible is then only one who looks off to me because of the torso shape.

I agree he is the worst by far and I'm not massive on the genie again due to size and the cap. Really think they could have utilised the recent Axl body type for him personally but may technically stray from minifigure

I probably won't buy any sets as the exchange rate is shit for AU atm. I'm mainly interested in the pick a brick wall.

That and I can wander around the ghostbusters sets waiting for someone to pick it up and scream I MADE THAT, I MADE THAT.

You've got to get someone to video you doing that! That'd be great!

I'm on the east bay side of the San Francisco Bay Area. Cool to know you'll be visiting. I hardly go to the San Mateo one since there's a closer one to me in Pleasanton, but the San Mateo location is closest to SF. I was actually at the San Mateo location this past weekend since I was meeting up with friends. The pick a brick wall had the normal selection of pieces. I didn't see anything special like horses or dogs or pieces of that nature.

So what's the reason for visiting our lovely city? Make sure to take time to see the sights. Lots to do in The City.

I'll be in GDC, I'm not gonna have a lot of time to see the sights unfortunately but I'll make an effort to get to the lego store, how sad is that? :)

Bionicle and Creator sets were 20% at Toys R US yesterday so I picked up 2 more red creatures. I want to build a large lava monster of some type now or maybe a dragon. Any suggestions or ideas?

Hold on to them until the Lava beast is released in summer, then create a quad winged lava Dragon

I believe that body shape is a big factor for a lot of people. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck have shapes that cannot be replicated very well with standard minifig parts. Oversized hands and feet of the mice is an example. Scrawny legs for all 4 is another example. That is part of their iconic looks.

I'm fine with Mr. Incredible having standard minifig body. The part (pun intended) that bothers me is the glove and boot choices. I have a like/don't like relationship with those two-colored legs. Sometimes they annoy me, sometimes they look OK. The arm choice for Mr. Inc is totally off because they are using the short-sleeve two-color arms. I'd rather LEGO just used color hands like they do on all other minifigs even though Mr. Inc gloves are really long (but not past elbows to biceps).

I'm guessing the Genie decision may be based on the ability to reuse that new head mould. If they did a specific mould that matches the movie version, it would not be reusuable at all. Also, it falls into line with a decision that "human" characters have standard LEGO heads. Genie is a bluish-grey area.

Capt. Hook would have benefited immensely from a custom moulded head given how inhumanly shaped it is in the movie.

Anyway, count me in the side that is happy with the CMFs. I have some minor issues with them, but overall, I think they did well.

I would expect nothing less. I'm in Toronto but travel to various US cities every couple of weeks and I try to hit up the local LEGO store whenever possible.

I'm in San Diego (Gaslamp area) next week for a conference and am thinking about driving up to the Fashion Valley LEGO store as I've not been to that one.

I wish more of the stores had location-specific exclusives. The first time I was in Downtown Disney in Orlando I passed on an exclusive set of the sea serpent and have regretted it ever since. Anaheim, NYC & Orlando all have minifig magnets that I collected. I was thrilled to have them all until I realized that nope, there's also versions for Tokyo, Copenhagen and Paris. Ah dammit. I just looked and there is a new (awesome looking) NYC one too. Love the skyline tile.

My business travel ain't taking me out of North America anytime soon so I need to accept that some things just aren't meant to be.
Long story short. Enjoy GDC but make sure to visit the LEGO store. Definitely hover and yell at people eyeing the Ecto-1.

I was boring when I went to Tokyo and Berlin, I just got pick-a-brick from Berlin and Tokyo didn't have one which was disappointing so I only ended up buying some of those LED keychains cause I felt I should get something. Even though I could buy them anywhere.

Also if anyone is in the SF area and wants their Ecto box signed I'm happy to try and meet up sometime, or organize a GAF SF Lego store trip :D

March items are up on LEGO S@H, but Double VIP is only 7 days away! The torture :)

Well, I'm going to make a small order now with some of the new exclusives, and make a larger one later I suppose.

So I am on a bit of a space station kick now since I built the Odin space station from Call of Duty:

24765942174_263f6be737_c.jpg

Problem is, there don't seem to be many space stations/orbital platform type sets around. Are there any Star Wars ones (Death Star is an obvious one, but it's not that visually interesting to me)? Or any other Lego theme for that matter?

Also was in Walmart and found a copy of Lego City Undercover for the Wii U! Actually, I don't even have a Wii U yet, but I've only heard good things about this game and wanted a copy for down the road whenever I pick up a Wii U (or maybe the NX if it backwards compatible).

I've had a B&P and a PAB order waiting since forever, but I had a hard time coming up with sets to order. I finally settled for the Elves market (I want one of those dragons and it comes with new figures unlike the fire dragon) and the Ford which I will be rebuilding into another car...

Darn you Bricks and Pieces!

Just spent $100+. I didn't delay my order anymore as some other items disappeared from last time I check a week ago. Mostly Star Wars heads or torsos. Was gonna get a few Leia heads from 75094 - IMPERIAL SHUTTLE TYDIRIUM, as it is fairly generic and has a smirk and alternate subtly upset expression.

BaP hint. If looking at torso or leg assemblies, just use the design numbers.

Design number
76382 Torso assembly
73200 Leg assembly

It will show most of those type of items so you don't have to check individual set numbers. You have to go through a bunch of out of stock items, but it is way easier.
I don't guarantee it shows all torsos though if the design number is different for some reason.

If for some reason you held off on any Scooby Doo sets, it's 20% off on S@H for Scooby Doo collection which has 3 sets: mummy museum, spooky forest and mansion.

Waiting as in you knew what you wanted but didn't place order or you somehow saved the order? Curious because BaP is wierd that you could lose a your entire order if you use the back arrow on your browser. I lost more than 1 hours worth of searching parts the first time I used BaP because of that.

Once you finish the order and put it in your cart it seems to be safe. I've then went back (by clicking on it in the cart) multiple times, adding or removing something, and then reconfirming.

So what sets from the March releases are people picking up today?

Just ordered the Obi-Wan Jedi Interceptor (75135) and also thinking I'll pick up the Droid Escape Pod (75136) if I come across one!

Everything continues to be awesome.

The LEGO Group continued its global expansion and reached children in all regions of the world in 2015. This was enabled by strong performance of new product innovations, such as LEGO® DIMENSIONS™, LEGO Star Wars™, LEGO NINJAGO™ and LEGO Elves, and a continued high interest in core LEGO themes such as LEGO City.

“2015 was a fantastic year for us as a company dedicated to inspire and develop children through play. Across the year we estimate that approximately 100 million children had a LEGO® experience – be it through playing with great LEGO products, in schools via LEGO® Education materials or by participating in local community activities or receiving product donations driven by the LEGO Foundation across the world,” says Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, President & Chief Executive Officer, the LEGO Group.

Key 2015 results

• Revenue growth excluding foreign exchange impacts was 19% year over year on a local currency basis.
• Revenue increased by 25% in DKK to DKK 35.8 billion against DKK 28.6 billion in 2014.
• The year's operating profit increased to DKK 12.2 billion against DKK 9.7 billion in 2014 – an increase of 26%.
• Net profit was DKK 9.2 billion compared to DKK 7.0 billion in 2014 – an increase of 31%.
• Injury rate per million work hours was 1.4 compared to 1.7 in 2014.
• More than 90% of waste from production sites recycled.
• The number of employees in the LEGO Group increased from 14,762 at the end of 2014 to 17,294 at the end of 2015.

John Goodwin, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, the LEGO Group, comments on the financial results:

“We have achieved significant growth in sales every year for a decade now, and it is highly satisfactory that we can deliver yet another year of double digit sales growth. I am excited that we have achieved this growth, driven by innovation and global expansion, while maintaining our focus on product quality and safety. Importantly, we are also seeking to balance our short-term growth with our long-term capability development, as investments in production and organisation capacity have continued at pace in 2015 and will continue in the coming period.”

In 2015, children continued to have a high interest in core LEGO themes as well as engaging in new product innovations. Among the top selling lines in 2015 were core themes like LEGO City, LEGO Star Wars™, LEGO NINJAGO™, LEGO Friends and LEGO® DUPLO®. Furthermore, the new fantasy theme LEGO Elves is off to a good start as is LEGO DIMENSIONS™, a new play experience that merges physical LEGO brick building with interactive console gameplay. Like other LEGO video games, LEGO Dimensions is developed by TT Games and published and distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

“We are excited that children all over the world loved LEGO play in 2015. We are continuously learning more on how to engage boys and girls around the world in different and exciting ways, such that our innovation brings new engaging and relevant experiences to them every year and helps them to develop essential 21st century skills. When we succeed we are excited not only because of the positive business implications, but even more so because we bring playful learning to millions of children. Play that inspires and develops them. Ultimately that is our ambition and the biggest positive impact we have”, says Julia Goldin, Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, the LEGO Group, adding:

“I feel confident that by the end of 2016 even more children will have experienced LEGO play. We have a great range of new products for boys and girls of all ages and interests. From the new cool adventures of LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS™ where physical and digital play merge seamlessly, to the continued expansion of the LEGO Friends universe, a new take on the LEGO NINJAGO™ series, exciting new LEGO Star Wars™ and LEGO City products, great LEGO DUPLO experiences for the younger children - and a number of other products that all offer a truly creative and fun LEGO experience”.

Double-digit sales growth in all regions

All the LEGO Group’s market regions achieved double-digit sales growth in 2015 while the traditional toy market in most countries grew by mid-single digit rates.

“Most major LEGO markets achieved sales growth in 2015. In our largest market, the US, sales grew double-digit, which was also the case for other key markets including UK, France, Brazil, China and Japan. In 2015, we maintained our focus on further building our presence in Asia. Our highly valued partnership with our customers around the world made the LEGO brand come alive across offline and online retail channels, enabling us to reach even more children around the world with a LEGO experience,” says Loren I. Shuster, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, the LEGO Group.

Investing to make a positive impact

During 2015, the LEGO Group continued investing significantly in order to reach more boys and girls, and furthermore drove activities to support the Group’s ambition to leave a positive impact on the planet and society.

“One of the most significant announcements in 2015 was our commitment to invest DKK 1 billion to find more sustainable alternative plastic materials to the current oil-based materials we use today to make LEGO bricks. The announcement in June was a major step on our way towards achieving our 2030 ambition on sustainable materials, and it followed our already intensive efforts to recycle waste, increase energy efficiency, reduce the packaging size and not least, our investment in an offshore wind farm to produce renewable energy,” says John Goodwin.

The Sustainable Materials Centre will be built at the LEGO Group Headquarters in Billund, Denmark. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2017 with the centre opening in 2018. Once completed the centre is expected to consist of research facilities covering approximately 4,000m2.

“It is a complex task to find and implement new materials that do not compromise the safety, quality or durability of our current materials. We are busy building the organisation and we expect to enter into partnerships during the coming years which hopefully means that we will see tangible actions as early as 2017,” says John Goodwin.

Continued investments in a more global and diverse organisation

The number of LEGO employees globally has significantly increased during 2015.

“This year we have added more than 2,500 employees to our staff around the world, so that by the end of 2015 more than 17,000 LEGO colleagues of 71 different nationalities worked together globally to bring great play experiences to children. Our employees are the main reason for our success as a company, whether they work in factories producing billions of great high quality LEGO bricks or develop new IT tools that enable our organisation to work more efficiently. Every single employee plays an important role, and should take pride in our results for the past year,” says Bali Padda, Executive Vice President, Chief Operations Officer and head of HR, the LEGO Group.

Also when it comes to embracing diversity and inclusion globally, the LEGO Group has taken significant steps. During the latest years the number of females recruited or appointed to positions as Director or above in the LEGO Group has increased from 23% in 2010 to 43% in 2015.

“The gender balance is only one aspect of diversity. We believe a truly diverse composition of our organisation is required for our success to continue globally. Our ever-growing diverse employee base brings about richer perspectives, which result in better-informed decisions. In 2015, we have implemented guidelines to ensure non-gender biased job postings and interview processes. We also introduced a course for leaders to be more inclusive in daily leadership as well as training on minimising biases in assessing performance and potential of employees,” says Bali Padda.

During 2015 a broad range of significant milestones were achieved, supporting the LEGO Group’s ambition of building a more global organisation and to bring LEGO experiences to more children all over the world:

March 13th
The LEGO Group announces a partnership with UNICEF. They pledge to jointly promote the Children’s Rights and Business Principles – a 10-point charter that sets out actions companies can take to respect and support children’s rights. In this three-year partnership, the LEGO Group has pledged to strengthen the governance of child protection in its own business and share best practices with others in the corporate world.

April 16th
The LEGO Group celebrates the opening of an expansion of the Kladno factory in the Czech Republic. The new production building covers 50,000 m2, and increases the capacity of the Kladno production facility by 30%.

June 16th
The LEGO Group announces that it will invest DKK 1 billion and establish a LEGO Sustainable Materials Centre in a significant step up on the 2030 ambition of finding and implementing sustainable alternatives to current materials.

October 7th
3,000 citizens of Billund, Denmark join in the celebrations during the topping out ceremony at the construction site of the LEGO House. The unique LEGO Experience Centre is planned to open in 2017.

October 8th
DONG Energy, the LEGO Group and William Demant celebrate the inauguration of the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 1 which can provide clean electricity for
320,000 households. The opening marks a substantial step towards the LEGO Group’s goal to be 100% balanced by renewable energy in 2020.

October 20th
The LEGO Group announces plans to expand and invest significantly in factories in Mexico, Hungary and Denmark towards 2022 to match the increasing demand for LEGO products. The factory in Mexico will be expanded by up to 190,000 square metres, adding up to 3,000 new employees towards 2022.

December 4th
The LEGO Group officially opens its new and significantly larger regional main office in Singapore. The new office can house up to 400 employees and enables the LEGO Group to reach more children across Asia in the future.

Those revenue and profit growth figures are crazy.

Shit, Bionicle wasn't mentioned at all in that. Hopefully it's not going to be cancelled soon. The stocking seems to be sporadic in most Wal Mart's and targets as well.

Nice that both Dimensions and Elves are pointed out as doing well. Dimensions should be a good way to draw non-builders into Lego (a friend collects the addons even though he normally doesn't care for it, but has shown some interest in stuff like Ghostbusters), and Elves is neutral enough to attract both genders even though it uses minidolls.

Worry not. LEGO is invested in Bionicle especially with the cartoon still not even showing which is strange. Maybe they don't want Nexo Knights and Bionicle cartoon out at same time and/or production delays of cartoon that prevented it from showing earlier when Bionicle sets first came out.

Only way for LEGO to stop Bionicle right now is if it is an utter disaster.

Slow day for posts.

I'm always impressed how creative people are with very unusual elements that only seem to have 1 use. This is probably my favorite NPU of the hot air balloon element.

I'm really floored there isn't more Pokemon mocs since Mixels started coming out. Seems like a no-brainer.

Yeah my wal-mart has sets, but not all of them >_<

I think regardless if they are doing good or not, there's at least one more year in the series. I do hope it lasts longer than that :(

this wouldn't be the first ii've heard of Bionicle mybe being pulled

i was told we were moving the bay we have them set in to the back corner, and in april they would be pulled off our shelves.

i don't want to cause any alarm, as this could easily be heresay, especially with the summer wave coming, and the positive reception toe Bionicle G2 so far. also with how silly it would be for he LEGO store to not carry a new LEGO product.

i hope everything turns out fine as i was so thrilled when bionicle was revived, and thats when i decided to wrk for TLG

That would definitely explain the Sold Out of the series I saw last night on S@H and why LEGO store last week was out except for a box and half with no new shipments.

Or it could be just a shortage due to production maxed out at facilities. Who knows, but it's fun reading the theories. Left Shark, Right Shark legal issue is the best one I've read so far. Seriously, they are both generic looking sharks based on sharks. Only factor that makes something like that remotely possible is I have 13-14 of the 16 and I didn't see anything wrong with my CMFs. If that was the case, the LEGO stores would have pulled any remaining packets in store just like they did with Wall-E.

Very curious to find out the reason(s).

EDIT: Read the Reddit article listed by Brick Fan. Seems to be some legit anecdotal stories lending to a legal issue. I like Katy Perry, but if she is the cause, I will be very upset.
Which will amount to squat to her.

At the same time, they were readily available in my local Lego Store this afternoon... May it be a regional issue?

So fortunately I've got about $300 I could spend on Lego this month, unexpectedly.

Question now is do I go for the firehouse or do a combination of Ferris wheel/mixer or something else. Ideas, anyone? Only themes I really go for are creator and superheroes.

How many modulars do you not own yet? The real answer is buy as many modulars as you can.

Or Temple of Airjitzu and something else.

Yep I'm up-to-date on modulars.... The Temple is nice but I just don't know about spending $200 on useless (to me) minifigures and a theme I'm not crazy about.

Buy 20 Nexo Knights book of monsters sketch books and draw creepy necronomicon shit in the them and then randomly place them throughout your local library.

Temple of Airjitzu, bro! Do it!
Ghostmind will steer you that way as well. The only Ninjago stuff I ever bought before that was clearance stuff to salvage for parts, but the Temple is still standing proud on top of the equipment rack next to my tv. Just a big and glorious monument of awesome.

As for other stuff you listed, Ferris Wheel > Mixer.
But Temple of Airjitzu > most things from last two years.

Firehouse! You will be able to find most of the new super hero sets on sale eventually.
Wait for double VIP points for Firehouse. Won't be long.

I typically wait for high ticket Super Hero sets to go on sale. $20 and below I may impusle buy. $30 I'll buy not on sale only when it's something I really want.
