i've been reading Spotted Flowers and tbh it's not that great (especially after the unmitigated awesome of I Don't Understand What My Husband Is Saying) so I'm kinda scared to ever go back and reread Genshiken because there's the distinct possibility it's worse than I remember. That said, I didn't really like what I saw of Genshiken v2 or whatever, so maybe the mangaka just got worse.

Of all the series I wanted to see revived from stasis, this was probably #2 behind Screaming Lessons. Even at this early stage, it's clear that it'll follow a similar formula for each of its chapters, but I'm not complaining since it's basically my favourite formula for manga. I'd like to see a diversion for more background on Rin later though, or at least some more direct involvement from her (like in the one-shot). The "price" of the matchboxes was a new addition, but it's more intuitive than giving them away for free. Even if the buyers do ultimately pay for using them anyway.

A young aristocrat lady works as an odd jobs specialist and landlady, tricking one of the tenants (who also happens to have a crush on her) into helping her out. For the most part, a nice, relaxing series about a young, free-spirited girl learning about the world around her, with the added bonus of pretty art and Hyouka eyes. Unfortunately I can't remember much of the last chapter I read so that's probably a good sign that I'm far too tired to read the rest of this.

It was alright. The story maybe isn't anything to write home about but with some surprising developments, quirky characters and general, weird and understated way in which it is told, it ended up being less cliche than I feared at the beginning. The bigger pull is the very unique art, to which I warmed up quite a bit, one that with the aforementioned characters and the unusual storytelling creates a very memorable atmosphere.

Crunchyroll didn't do that, so I didn't bother to go out of my way.
I started reading this the other week, entirely because it seemed like something Kaoru Mori would make. It's nice and easy-going, maybe not on par with Mori, but Gisèle and her adventures are pretty charming. Seems like the mangaka only puts out a few chapters a year though. Sucks.

I'm gonna laugh when it turns out that Touta just is Nagi via timey-wimey hijinks. That or Negi, Nagi and Touta turn out to be the same dude and all merge into one being: the Pornomancer.

Finally on viz site. Great start, thought it was sad at first and then with the reveal but then a part of me was happy we moved on to somewhat lighter and happier things, with Mirai realizing that yes he is alive and that he needs to be happy for his familys sake.
I hope this time the lead character of a story can actually become the god. Please no kill him off Death Note style again, thats bad writing.
