It would have had entire journey's devoted to every ingredient but we have to cram all the areas and food descriptions into one chapter so we can fast track towards Toriko in space. And nobody seems to care about their full courses anymore either.

it is either space or WSJ wants the series to end quickly

I mean it is literally Toriko Z now in focus of fights > food and adventure

Fire Brigade of Flames 16

Dude was using the wrong hand all day and eventually realizes it before soling the other dude with his sword in the correct hand

...okay dokey

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Dungeon Meshi

Man this is so amazingly creative.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Yamada

Yamada beats the shit out of a bishie and then demands the bishie kiss him as payment for beating the shit out of him. Checks out.

UQ Holder

I miss when Ken would call these "research breaks" so we could joke about him reading porno doujins or whatever it is he does

Fuuka

Yuu being a little whiny no-confidence dude is pretty annoying given that he is literally a rock star with a giant harem of well-endowed beautiful women including two major international recording artists. The worst part is that his lack of bravado was cited as the actual reason the band will fail and nobody fucking did anything to help him. They just let him be a little meek wussball without providing him with any advice or help until they got to the festival where it was stated his wussyness will ruin the band. And here he is acting like a big fucking wuss and demanding to leave and go home because he can't handle all these super hot girls fighting over him.

For those not following Seo-sama's most recent masterpiece, this should tell you a lot: the owner of the band's record label is legitimately tsundere for the band. That's not even a joke. She signed them early on in the series, but mostly just tells them they fucking suck and does nothing at all to help them succeed. The only time she ever does anything to help them she does by giving a note to the band's tour manager and making the tour manager pretend the tour manager wrote it. Because the label's owner is apparently embarrassed that the band will think she cares about them, those stupid bakas.

My knowledge about Russian history is quite poor. All I know is that it's bloody and harsh. Based on this, what I saw here felt pretty close to what I'd imagine, maybe not as bloody, but surely harsh.

Art was good, as expected from Samura. I really like his character art, there is always some madness in their eyes.

Talking about the story, the reason why those two go through all those troubles ended up being rather simple. Somewhat... silly even, given the torture and... sexual violence? they got to endure.
Seeing all the various flashbacks and getting to the how and why though shaped up the characters, giving strength to their motivations and on an empathy level, considering who they are and what they went through, their simple, silly motivation for risking their lives resonated with me.
It's also pretty cool that by the end of the book, their journey hasn't ended but could be seen as just starting.

But even the fights don't get focused, everything has been rushed for awhile now wsj must have given the mangaka the hint toriko is on the chopping block

I started reading both I Am a Hero and The Ancient Magus' Bride.

Hero is... oof, it's really distressing. I don't know what it's actually like to suffer from delusions, or if it's accurately portrayed in this manga, but man it makes me sympathize with this character. I'm really enjoying this. Enjoying? Eh. The world's slow descent into madness while he's struggling with his mental issues and stability is both captivating and off-putting. I don't want to read it, but I don't want to stop. I'm no expert on this sort of thing, but the scene composition feels really well done to me. Super detailed art, too.

Bride, I've only read the first chapter. Seems fairly interesting so far, as a premise, but holy crap that art. It's so pretty.

Started reading Dungeon Meshi after seeing others talk about it, so far so good. Story premise is really cool (I particularly like how they explain revivals in dungeons like a video game), characters are really good (Marcille is particularly adorbs) and not a single unnecessary fanservice or edgelord moment to be seen this far. Just a good comedy with good art. More stuff like this
and Yotsuba
, Japan.

Both of these are excellent choices.

I Am a Hero is a stellar series.

Slumberparty when?

It seems my physical German Punpun collection is nearly done. Only need to wait for the release of volume 13. Now it's back to browsing for the next series I'll buy, preferably something completed already.

20th century boys looks tempting.

I Am a Hero is fantastically written and characterized but I hate its gross zombies so much I can't really bring myself to read it regularly. I'll catch up one day when it's completed.

Dungeon Meshi 9

Belligerent Sexual Tension between the elf and the orc. Sounds like a different series I read.

I read it more as racial tension but I can sort of see it.

Although I suppose the other series was less Belligerent Sexual Tension and more "Elf tries to convince an Orc to ravish her."

The Ancient Magus Bride is honestly in my top 10 best manga series. The art and the world is just so captivating, it feels magical. Its a really comfy series that's best read in short bursts imo.

I honestly hope if it really does get an anime, a great Studio will adapt it.

I think maybe you need to step back from orcs ravishing elves and remind yourself there's other forms of elf-orc interaction out there!
