It's a nice read with a somewhat fun harem MC.
Story is a mess though in the later parts, from what I remember.
Might actually try to catch up again.

It starts strong but it picks off really early. By chapter 10 the main plot is already beginning.

I think I get what you're looking for. I had a similar reaction. I'd say around the mid-thirties are where the stuff that people really love Helck for starts to pick up full gear.

Reading up to chapter 12, the main threat and adventure goals will be established.
Its around chapter 36 that Helck starts to become great. For it was already good, since I liked the humor of the first chapters.

I appreciate that the character's motivations aren't just being dense, but it kind of rubbed me the wrong way that Hoshimiya figured out that Sasamori and Toru are in love but tangled in a super-complicated relationship that needs time to resolve itself, yet she's totally cool trying to swoop. Like, let them figure it out before you try and break it up.
Then again, maybe she's genre savvy enough to know there's no fucking way he's not totally in love with Sasamori and that she's destined to lose.

It's only saving grace is the main girl, whether by look or personality
The 'mc' couple sure... but I have a hard time with the clown from 'It' being part of their club and some other characters.
But like I said I still enjoy the manga, it's just that for me it's despite it's art ( well some of it, I still really like some of the panel ).

I think the point is cringing at what a big fucking loser the MC is since the entire premise is "big fucking loser dates an S-tier bombshell waifu." Well, at least that's what I'd like to think, since it's actually just wish-fulfillment fantasies for nerds.

Man, I'd love it if Tankouban releases were a lot bigger. I've been buying physical volume's, but they are beginning to seem too small for the detail. I also hate it when there is a 2 page spread and you get the break in the middle.
How are the digital releases from Amazon and ComiXology, or anyone else? Are they big and detailed? The programs easy to use and actually functional? Tried that Viz reader on their site and it was dog shit.

I read them on my ipad and have no problems. It's worth noting that Kodansha seems to be moving towards oversized releases (ie. Viz's Sig size), so that's good too. It's worth noting that the Japanese tanks are smaller than even the standard size English releases too.
