Marvel: More console games are coming, announcements next year

Disney Infinity 2.0 is great fun from a mechanics standpoint it's just really lacking in content kind of like Destiny. That said, what I played of Star Wars at E3 was fantastic and solved most of the variety problems of 2.0: I really do hope they eventually release Age of Ultron and Ant Man playsets not just figures.

  • Super-Skrull -> Medusa (Ms. Marvel could also get some of his abilities, mainly his stretching moves)

  • Super skrull's entire move list could be given to Crystal with 0 alteration. It could also strengthen whatever backstory they have with Scarlet Witch and the inhumans by having her there.

Crystal is going to be a big focusing point with the inhumans because she's the only one who isn't a huge freak.

Apparently most of this thread cares about it. Plus stop acting as if marvel has put out a lot of fighting games there has only been 2 in the past 5 years.just because you don't like the genre doesn't mean that others don't.

Two of note or worth. There have been a lot, and most of them are hot trash.

And that's only if you count Champions as being of worth, I think that game is embarrassing.

Actually,
Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch are now just experiments of the High Evolutionary. They aren't either mutants or Inhumans.
Plus if anyone, Quicksilver has a connection to the Inhumans as per him marrying Crystal & having a kid with her. Though yeah, Scarlet Witch would be the sister-in-law & aunt in terms of her relation to the Inhumans. Though nice catch, I'll edit my post accordingly.

And I just went online for UMvC3, only to be greeted with an entire team of Galactuses. We need MvC4.

Wanda has nothing to do with the Inhumans.
Her and pietro are experiments of the high evolutionary

I'm gonna need a list of all these. I can only think of 4 and 1 is a remaster and another was a mobile game which I wasn't counting. So like I said only two so how is that alot?

Because very few people care who Strider Hiryu or the Darkstalkers are compared to the Avengers/Guardians.

But MvC is just as much of an opportunity for Capcom to market their goods (both major and lesser) as much as Marvel's. And I doubt that Capcom would just squander that opportunity.

For example: if indeed a Mega Man cartoon is slated to hit Disney XD or whatever by 2017, there's a chance for overlap from the same viewer base that tunes in to watch the Marvel toons. And then you have a game like MvC4, which is a fighting game where "Spider-Man can fight with or against Mega Man, the stars from their own respective hit animated series". The marketing bullet point writes itself.

UMvC3 Online has turned into a cesspool of Galactus-playing hackers, most of whom don't even know how to use their other two characters (or just have an army of Galactuses).

I don't care what Marvel &/or Capcom has to do, MvC4 needs to happen.

Disney Infinity is a shallow, shallow excuse to sell toys. They're so greedy they can't even keep to a single theme; if you're a hardcore Disney fan, you're out of luck, as they were far more interested in adding Hawkeye and Spider-Man before Mickey goddamn Mouse. If you wanted more Marvel stuff? Sorry, they're chasing the Star Wars gravy train now.

Greediest bullshit to its core.

There's so much potential here, omg.

If Marvel were to step up their game just like they did in the movies division... jesus.

Do it.

I want a VR Iron Man game, an X-Men MMORPG where you can pick either side of the mutants, a Spiderman game by Rocksteady, a Deadpool/Blade game by Platinum, Guardians of the Galaxy space exploration game, and a Hulk VR game.

That'll do for now.

I can't believe people drool for a fighting game. I want a proper game for Spidey, Marvels Arkham style game and no goddamn tekken with Marvel characters.

I blame you guys if they release a fighting game instead of a real game.... oh who am I kidding, hope you guys enjoy mobile 2 console port games because I don't see Marvel diving into AAA console market.

Evo is this weekend. You should watch some MvC3 play.

I get the appeal, I just don't have the time to "git gud". It's such a huge learning curve to be anywhere near fluent, and really I don't have time for that shit in games these days.

I've got hours. I just don't have the inclination. IMO actually learning to "git gud" in fighting games just isn't fun.

In short: Eff MVC, bring on MUA3.

A game like MUA3 would only last for a month for most people. A game like MvC would last for almost a decade in the FGC. And besides, Capcom's license expired, Activision's was revoked. So while Capcom could get the license back with proper funding, Activision has a slim chance of ever getting the Marvel license back. While sure, a spiritual successor to MUA is possible, it's unlikely that it'll come close. The best you'll get for now is Marvel Heroes (the MMO).

Modified to align with Modern Marvel's agenda.

Rocksteady can't do Spider-Man because they're too busy making my TMNT game.

Also, if they're first new console game isn't MvC or Marvel Heroes then my money is on it being squarely Avengers focused.

We're getting Ultron & Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ant-Man was hinted at, & we supposedly have 3 more Marvel characters on the way. As for playsets, there aren't a lot of compelling options left considering that Marvel isn't gonna let the DI team do the X-Men or the F4.

Very important

Definitely, I dropped a fair bit of cash on it in first yr and a half. I stopped playing because my PC struggles but I'd love to pick it up on X1. I'd either pay for the game or drop more cash on characters.

Marvel Heroes (with account migration please) and Deadpool 2. KK TY.
On top of Marvel's anti-Fox regime outside of the comics (mainly with Marvel refusing to give the X-Men or the Fantastic Four appearances games, cartoons, or merchandise), Activision's contract with Marvel was revoked outside of the Spider-Man deal which was made with Sony before Marvel took up the merchandising rights to Spider-Man (which I think ends in 2017). Until Marvel gets the mutant rights back for the movies, we'll never see another Deadpool-centric game...or any mutant-centric game. And even if we did, it wouldn't be under Activision & High Moon Studios.

The only things we'll ever get are either Avengers, Guardians, Inhumans, all of the MCU, or all of Marvel minus the characters Fox owns the movie rights to (which is basically the MCU plus a few who haven't made it into the MCU, yet).

Would LOVE a new Spiderman game! Havent played one since Spiderman 2. I want to see the same love and care that was in the Arkham games put into a new Spidey one!

All fair points but it's Deadpool! There has to be hope :(

Edit: Also, I wasn't aware of the full details of what went down with Activision. No longer available digitally and no more printing! I'm gonna have to get another copy of Deadpool, just in case. (my original copy barely survived a ringed scratch from a 360 mishap).

Might I recommend Shattered Dimensions? I'm sure you can find it used at GameStop.

The guys who handle the comics care. It's the merchandising & executive arms of Marvel that don't give a shit.

Why was Deadpool then depublished on Steam and everywhere else? I dont think you are right here.

I haven't put to much money into it but my PC doesn't run it great either and I wouldn't want to have to re-buy what I did if it comes to consoles.

Deadpool is lumped with the X-Men stuff. Basically anything not Spider-Man specific was removed when Marvel revoked the license from Activision. If I recall, the only games from Activision left that are Marvel are the Spider-Man movie tie-in games.

That's what gives me hope a deal can be made with another dev/publisher. DP is a big name in comics. With the movie out next year it would make sense for Marvel to cash in. The game wouldn't boost revenue of the film (it's already a guaranteed smash) but the game could benefit from the film. Kerching!

That's the thing, anything done with those characters is seen as promoting the Fox films in the eyes of the executive arm of Marvel. As such, they aren't gonna do anything with Deadpool outside of the comics.

To me it seems like a short term vs long term game plan. Yes, Marvel could make money in the short term off merchandising and licensing for DP, FF and X-Men but if they hold out and withdraw support from those properties to the point that Fox gives up the movie rights then Marvel can make far more money directly down the road. I don't know which is the right strategy but I personally would like to have FF back in the MCU.

I want a Spider-Man game with a really involved, well written story. Maybe have it star Miles Morales? :)

Haven't read the story yet, but a Spider-Verse game would probably make sense. Use the story as an excuse play as all the popular Spider characters (Peter Parker, Miles, Spider-Gwen, Silk, Scarlet Spider, etc) and face off against all the popular Spider villains.

Thing is, Fox doesn't have toy, comic, & merch support it the movies are doing quite well. Not sure why they would give up the rights to such a cash cow that (arguably) better than Marvel movies. Seriously don't see Fox giving up the rights for a decade and I am super excited about that!

I think that's far more viable than a Spider-Gwen standalone.

Which reminds me, I haven't played that endless runner in a while. I thought it was alright.

I don't disagree with you. It seems like the Marvel shutout is a real thing but I'm not actually sure it will work. I suspect that Fox will have to tank those properties by themselves before they'll give them up.
