Mass Effect: Andromeda PC system requirements

I've got an i5 6500 and a 1070, so my PC is obvs way more powerful than my PS4 pro...but I'm still gonna wait until there are a bunch of reviews and comparisons out. Also to take into consideration that Origin won't play nice with my Steam link, so if I buy this on PC then comfy couch gaming is not an option. =/

If you add the game from Origin to steam, won't it work with the steam link? Just launch Origin/The game etc from Steam?
I don't have a steam link but I do use steam in home streaming heavily. Not sure if it's exactly the same, but I get origin games to work just fine by adding the Origin client itself as a non-Steam game.

1. Make sure Origin is closed on the host PC.
2. Add Origin client as a non-Steam game via steam on the host PC.
3. From the client, launch Origin from Steam.
4. Launch the desired game.
5. Profit.

Bonus: On the host PC, in Origin settings set it so that the client automatically exits when a game exits. This way you can launch a different game afterward without having to walk over to your PC to close Origin.

I have a 3570k at 4.2 ghz along with a GeForce 1080, hoping I can max out everything except maybe the most taxing AA option such as ssao, and hopefully get 60 FPS.

At 1080p I think that should be fine. I'm hoping for 1440p@50fps. I'm also interested if Andromeda will have resolution scaling like Dragon Age: Inquisition had. Very useful tool. Also SSAO isn't AA it's ambient occlusion and SSAO should be easily okay. HBAO+ is the taxing one. Now 1080p with 4xMSAA might be too much of an ask though. So yeah, 2xMSAA should be fine with 1080p.
Still gonna dream of 4K@50fps with my 4790k and 1080. (I know it's not possible).

Also someone going to make a post to explain how to VPN the game so it unlocks early for us Europeans?

MEA won't support HBAO+.

SSAO and HBAO are what you get to roll with.

On VPN, if no one else makes one I will whip up guide closer to full release.

Oh, forgot to mention resolution in my post. No, i meant 60 FPS at 1440p. I know i will get 60 at 1080p with everything at max, but that isnt really relevant to me. Got 1440p/60 in inquisiton, witcher 3 and BF1, so hoping ill get that in Andromeda as well, with the only compromise being the supersampling solution.

No HBAO+? I know DA:I had it. I would have thought ME:A would have it too. Just HBAO then.
DA:I only has HBAO I think.

You'll be fine with it at 1440p.

Minimum requirements seem more like advertisement spots now compared to years ago. The game will probably run with an I3 or a 4 thread Pentium.

I don't know if I should get this on my Pro or my PC. My 1080 FTW2 will love this game and I can always use my Steam Link or Nvidia Shield for the big screen. Heck, I might just use my KS8000 as a 3rd monitor to play.

Any know if I have my Steam Link or Nvidia Shield TV hooked up via LAN line, will it look just as good?

DA:I had HBAO and HBAO Full

What is HBAO Full? Is it HBAO and HBAO in DAI is .5 * HBAO? If HBAO Full is HBAO+ then DAI is only FB ran game with it.

I'll check out the early access trial on PC to see how it performs. I've got W10, i7-4790k @ 4.00 GHz, GTX 1070 and 16GB DDR3. Hoping it performs well, but it's Frostbite so it should do just fine after updated drivers and such.

At least a 980 ti should have no problem maxing I think?

Depends on resolution, but you should be good.

Ah, you're right, kinda'. It's not HBAO+ it's HBAO, HBAO Full though a few sites reported it as HBAO+ like Guru 3D Also I've not played it in nearly 2 years!

Is HBAO Full same as HBAO+? Couldn't find proof to one way or another. If it's then DAI is only Frostbite ran game with HBAO+ support.

Sli support day one right? haHAA.... :(

It's the same engine as DA:I, right? Maybe the same flags can be applied. My only chance to play this game is with SLI, one 580 won't do much. Fingers crossed.

Frostbite can be really good, Battlefront and Battlefield 1 look and run like some kind of black magic. It's seriously impressive.
But this isn't a DICE game. And Brad of Giant Bomb said the build he played ran kinda poop. But that build will be at least a month old by the time the game's out.

I am equal parts optimistic and worried. It'll probably be fine?

No idea. But it certainly made a visual difference. However if no other Frostbite uses HBAO+ then chances are neither will ME:A. Maybe HBAO Full was just a more aggressive version or was never used after.

Nvidia provides them with some support to utilize these things, and HBAO+ is mostly a straight-forward optimization from HBAO.
If this game is marketed through Nvidia, it will surely use their graphics tech. Why else would Nvidia agree to that?

Hm... i5-2500k@4.4GHz paired with a sligtly oced 680 is probably only slightly above the min requirements. How powerful is a 680 compared to a 660? Don't want to upgrade yet. Holding out for Ryzen and Vega.

DA:I ran perfectly fine at 1080p@60fps.

PS4 version it is then.

My pc:
Windows 10 pro
i5 2400 3.1 ghz
16 gb ddr3 1333
Nvidia 660 GTX 2 gb
500 GB SSD
1 TB Hard Drive

I would have to build a new pc to run this. I wanted to buy both PS4 and PC version just like DA:I

Shouldn't your PC run the game better than the PS4?

Yea, I compared MEA requirements with Battlefield's and they are very similiar. Considering that BF1 runs great on my i5-3470 and GF970 I'm not worried anymore :) Frostbite 3 is a beast.

Agree to what?

"NVIDIA & EA have revealed that the massively anticipated Mass Effect game will launch with support for NVIDIA Ansel, High-Dynamic Range (HDR) and gameplay broadcasting to Facebook Live with GeForce Experience."

No HBAO+.

An i7 CPU for recommended? Yikes.

I think I should be okay with my specs (i5 3570k 4.7ghz, GTX 1080, 16gb). I might not be able to run it at max though.

Fully expecting there to be some frame rate dips but hopefully they won't be too frequent.

You will. It's always the same and it always turns out fine(over 60) for me.

I think I'll sit this out until I can afford a replacement for my i5 2500k. Not in a rush to upgrade considering I still have Pillars of Eternity, Fallout New Vegas, Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate II, Dragon's Dogma, Avernum, Arcanum, Icewind Dale I-II and Dragon Age I-III to play/finish.

16 gigs of ram? Are we finally at the point where more than 8gb matters?

Serious question, please educate me as to whether I should grab another 8gb

Not really no, I always look at DSO gaming reports on PC performance in a game, and rarely are games going above 6gb in the screenshots they post, at 1080p anyway. 4k 60fps will require more ram, but you are fine with 8gb until ps5 comes out as long as you stick to 1080p or 2k res.Doesnt help that the games that take up more then 8gb ram are usually the shit PC ports.

I'd invest in a ssd of you haven't got one, that will make a bigger difference to gaming then 8gb will do, imho.

My 970 should handle this fine.

I'm more worried about my i5 2500k and my 12 gigs of RAM. I keep putting that upgrade off, but I don't know how much longer I can hold out. I still don't have problems running games near/on max settings. That 2500k is such a champ.

A 2500k will be fine at 1080p. Especially if it's OC'd (but even if not).

My 5 year old $170 2550k (best purchase ever) hasn't struggled with anything yet so I can't see why that would start now. I'm figuring on waiting a couple more years to do a full rebuild. I'll be surprised if I can't more than get by until then.

Eh, I have stuttering on DA:I with my 2500K at 4.5GHz. It seems to be CPU bottlenecked a bit. I can only imagine that ME:A will be more demanding.
Really? Back when I played that I was running stock 2550k (3.5ghz) and had locked 60 (with very rare exceptions) with maybe just a couple things turned down from ultra, with a 970.

I expect that kind of setup will run it on our with the PS4 Pro (E.g. not 60fps without turning some things down).

I'd rather wait for HBM2 and affordable Intel octocores before my full rebuild.

I've got a 960 2GB and an Intel i5-4460. Going to try the Trial on both PC and Xbox One in a couple of weeks and decide then if I need to swap my pre-order from PC to Xbox, depending on performance.

i7-3770k @4.5Ghz
GTX770 4GB OC
16GB RAM @2133Mhz

My GPU falls pretty much exactly in the middle. Speaking of GPU requirements, that is quite the gap.

Don't know, my 2500K @ 4.5GHz doesn't like Inquisition. I mean it runs mostly well, but it stutters, especially when running around at Skyhold.

Nowhere close to as bad as the PS4 stutters with it, but it was enough that it bothered me while playing.
