Mass Effect: Andromeda PC system requirements

I'm definitely waiting to hear about performance on PC and PS4 Pro before deciding.

I've got an i7-4770k and a GTX 980, but I game at 1440p. If the 980 will only get me 45 fps, it might be worth it to stick with the PS4 Pro at 4K and 30 fps. Then again, I could play more with less wife complaining if I get it on PC. It's a pickle.

There's also settings to ttake into account. I'd be completely flabergasted if your 980 can't do 60 FPS at 1440p at HIGHER than PS4 PRO settings. Maybe not ultra settings, but the PS4 Pro ain't going to be ultra either.

I wish there was a checkboard rendering 4k option for PC's. I imagine even a 1080 TI wont be rock steady 4k/hdr/60, A checkerboard solution would be great on my TV.

So far only Ubisoft games offer some type of sparse rendering, AFAIK. Definitely would be cool to see something like that implemented in Frostbite.

I am torn between getting this on PC or PS4 Pro. I have a 4790k and GTX 970 hopefully I can go 1080/60 with high settings. I am interested to check out the HDR implementation in this game, I am thinkimg it will be pretty sweet. I am planning to get trials on Xbox One & PC to see how the game runs on my PC and the HDR on my Xbox One.

How many games have actually benefited that much from 16GB of RAM vs 8GB?

I don't think there is single game that can break 8GB RAM limit, short of memleak that is. Still having 16 over 8 comes with benefits like leaving your browser, Discord and MSN Messenger on when wanting to play more memory intensive game.

RAM is basically free now days anyways so why not to go for 16 or even 32?

PS4 version it is then.

My pc:
Windows 10 pro
i5 2400 3.1 ghz
16 gb ddr3 1333
Nvidia 660 GTX 2 gb
500 GB SSD
1 TB Hard Drive

I would have to build a new pc to run this. I wanted to buy both PS4 and PC version just like DA:I

Good to know. I only play path of exile and BF1 on my laptop so far and 1080p everything on Low BF1 struggles at times (dips) but it is probably an intensive game.
Your laptop should be able to achieve ultra in BF1 with well over 60fps sounds like something more is going on. Does your laptop by chance have Optimus? If so it's not using that 1070 it's using the intel GPU.

The 1070 should destroy the 970 no contest. Look into this man! Also is your laptop plugged in by chance when playing BF1?

I wonder what graphical enhancements will be on PC over PS4 Pro. Outside of possible resolution and framerate targets.

I'm interested to see maxed out PC version and PS4Pro version in graphics mode side-by-side. 1080p60 maxed out Vs. 1080p30 with enhanced graphics mode.

I've got an i5 6500 and a 1070, so my PC is obvs way more powerful than my PS4 pro...but I'm still gonna wait until there are a bunch of reviews and comparisons out. Also to take into consideration that Origin won't play nice with my Steam link, so if I buy this on PC then comfy couch gaming is not an option. =/

If you add the game from Origin to steam, won't it work with the steam link? Just launch Origin/The game etc from Steam?

I just realized that the multiplayer will be ass on PC. At least for me.

Playing with a controller is a must for Mass Effect. M&K just doesn't feel right.

Either I get my ass kicked or I have to adapt to M&K...

I'll probably do the Origin Access trial to see how well it runs on my PC, and decide after that whether to get it on PC or PS4 Pro.

It's co-op, so just find whatever difficulty level works for you and don't worry about it

Huh? You'll be fine. 970 can max Inquisition and Witcher 3 easily, it should definitely be enough for this game on high. Recommended 1060 isn't a powerhouse card either.

I seem to remember my old 970 struggling to max out The Witcher 3, unless you aren't using hair works in which case that's not strictly maxing the game out.

Mass Effect feels perfect on KB/M for me. Been playing the trilogy on KB/M for about 7 years now.

But as for your concern, its just co-op dude. Your power/equipment loadout and the decisions you make with regards to movement/where to take cover matter a helluva lot more than your aim. You might not be able to take full advantage of headshot damage boosters but thats about it.

Wait, there is no PvP in ME:A? I never played the multiplayer in ME3 but I'm excited for this one.

ME3's multiplayer is fantastic. Hopefully this is as good.

Yes, it's coop wave based stuff. No PVP.

It was an amazing Horde-mode in ME3. It'll be a version of that in Andromeda.

Yeah I'm dumb. I thought the MP was going to be super competitive PvP.

Glad I can relax on my couch and horde mode à la GoW

Some mods definietely aren't possible. Anything that modifies the executable or messes with memory locations probably won't work. There might be other limitations, but these types of games usually rely on flat files to point it to resrouces to load, and often times they are fully accessible and editable. So you can add an entry to the hair styles mesh table pointing to a new hairstyle mesh, and it will work.

It's often more complicated than that for games that aren't built with modability in mind though.

Certainly with DA:I all sorts of aesthetic mods were possible, as well as those that edited store information (e.g. adding armour blueprints and materials to certain shops).

In addition, cheat engine worked just fine, and of course HattiWatti's Cinematic Tools (that hook into Frostbite to unlock control over the engine's camera, fov, and post-processing).

I believe this will the first BioWare game on PC, since Jade Empire that will support both KBM and gamepad without requiring you to restart the game to switch from one to the other. Am I right?

Did you have to quit the game in DA:I? I switched between them and don't remember having to quit. And I used HattiWatti's Cinematic Tools, which let you choose whether to use kb&m or controller or both to control camera movements while in freecam - so both could be connected at the same time.

So a 980ti wouldn't be able to run at 60FPS 1440p?

Depends on the in-game graphics settings you choose, I'd expect.

I have a 980Ti and I run DAI on ultra at 60fps on 1440p with the occasional drop but I also use ReShade, which cuts into fps. I expect I'll struggle to hit 60 this time around, but fps isn't as important to me as eye candy.
