Highest selling home console after 4.5 weeks (even after being supply constrained). That's pretty damn impressive.
Thats exactly what the graphs are showing, but the gap between Wii, PS3 and 360 is rather small, its pretty equally splitted.
Isn't that a given? If 360 is outsold, it's pretty much guaranteed PS3 is also outsold.

The fact is US and UK are more price-sensitive than brand loyalty and unfortunately, MS used to be strong in these 2 markets. Now it will step by step turn towards to Sony as PS4 enjoy 100USD price advantage.
The other markets like mainland Europe and Japan are more brand loyalty than price-sensitive and they are owned by Sony. This is a huge advantage for Sony.
Overall, MS has no chance to beat Sony in the new gen. The only thing they can do is to occupy the market share as much as they can.
If we don't count Wii U, then if X1 can have 35% market share, then it would be acceptable for MS.

It outsold it despite only being out for about 9% of the duration, and whilst being supply constrained. And in a country that was heavily xbox in the previous gen. Impressive.

Thanks for the graph, but i think its kinda hard to see how big of a difference there is. The difference in percentage might not look that small, but i believe that the Xbox 360 installbase is somewhere around 1 million units bigger than the PS3 installbase, but i could be wrong.

Should be somewhere around that, yes. But in terms of marketshare, 1 million behind is still negliable, its not a huge leader there compared to Sony with PS2.
Are you sure? I still remember when Sony announced the price of PSV in E3, everybody was happy and satisfied.... Many people said PSV will destroy 3DS...

Yeah, it was actually the opposite. When everyone saw the price, the hyped died down.
I wouldn't blame the market for Bravely Default's performance.
Seriously the game is nowhere to be found in this part of Europe....and we're usually well supplied in these kind of titles...
Seriously I don't know what Nintendo (wiki says they publish here) expected but there's clearly a problem of supply with this game.
Sales parity had fuck all to do with compition. Better yet, the bigger the gap, the harder MS will work for it.
I know Chartz is banned here. But it shows the gap between PS3 and X360 is about 3 millions. I don't think Chartz can make such huge mistake in the LTD sales...

I don't think the new iPad outsells the previous model's whole year amount in four weeks. This is impressive no matter which way you try to spin it.

Dont want to be the smartass here, but PS3 is pretty close in the UK. The gap is not as big as many think., its actually pretty close.
What are the latest LTD sales for PS3 in the UK?
We know the 360 was close to/or surpassed 8m at last count. Wasn't the PS3 at 5m or thereabouts at last count?
Anyway. Very impressive performance from the PS4, but it's not too surprising. Hardware and software were on a downward trend here for some time...

We do not know. Nintendos charts are the only thing thats credible, so the gap could be anything from 800k - 3million. We'll never know. I just wanted to show that PS3 wasnt so bad and it was a tight race until the end. Nothing more. Ps4 on the other hand is looking like the PS2 right now.
The 360 is easily available, has a far larger library of games, including mega hit GTA5 that came out just a few months ago, 12 months of being on the shelves and is the most popular home console in the UK for the past 4 or so years. This is against a product that is not easily available, has a small selection of games, is more expensive and was available for barely 5 weeks.
The 360 never outsold PS2 yearly sales when it came out, neither did the Wii or PS3.
You need to look at all the factors, not cherry pick and choose

Doesn't seem like it here in the UK. A quick check on the Argos website shows that all the stores near me have the title in stock (and they aren't even a specialist retailer).
No, I'm fairly confident that everyone was very impressed and pleased with the Vita price when it was announced. Everyone was expecting a much higher price.

That isn't true at all. When Kaz announced the Vita price, there was a big round of applause. Most people expected it to be much more - the price of the 3ds was terrible then. After the 3ds price cut, things changed completely.
