If by estimates you mean famitsu (which are as credible as media create), they come when they are out and not a specific time, no, they do not come out this early.

By the way, it will be very interesting to see WiiFit third week numbers. There's still a chance it outsells SMG LTD.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Does anyone have up to date estimations (or solid numbers) for the Magnificent Seven (BT, BT2, NSMB, AC WW, MK DS, D/P, Nintendogs)?

I'm very interested to see if all of them can manage to break the magic ten million barrier but I'm not sure how far away some of them are.

Also does anyone think DQ IX might actually do well on the DS in the west, relative to past series entries?

All numbers from Moor Angol.

As of 25 November 2007:
NSMB: 4,894,287
MK DS: 2,552,708

As of last charting:
BT: 3,557,960
BT2: 4,711,177
AC WW: 4,436,999
D/P: 5,337,424 combined.
Nintendogs: 1,587,007 all combined.

I'm very interested to see if all of them can manage to break the magic ten million barrier but I'm not sure how far away some of them are.

None of them will ever break the ten million barrier in Japan. That will never happen. At most, you're looking at 6.5-7million. You have to realize that the best selling (since sales tracking has been accurate enough to care about) games of all time have not yet broken the 6 million barrier.

Diamond / Pearl just passed Ruby / Sapphire combined. They're 200k away from Gold / Silver, and 300k away from Red / Blue. Moor Angol's tracking doesn't really distinguish whether or not Red / Blue means Red / Blue / Green or not, so I can't speak for that.

If you add the third game installment, Red / Blue / Yellow goes up too 7.55 million and I think it's VERY likely that whatever the third DP installment ends up being will end up passing that number.

Worldwide; that's another story. Nintendogs is well over 10 million worldwide and Pokemon is probably not too far from the barrier. NSMB I believe has shipped over 10m worldwide. BT2 is probably not there yet. Can't speak for BT, but it's possible. MKDS won't break 10m.

Absolutely none of those games are going to break 10 million. Let alone 7 or 8 million.

Edit: Stump beat be, but just barely. Actually, he has a better overall post. Just listen to him.

90% of thread readers need to read the same thing four or five times in a row before they actually pay attention to what's being said... so the more the merrier (
Not HK-47 in specific, just readers in general!

WW some of them have already broken and most of the rest will. MK:DS won't break 10 million worldwide. Pretty much everything else you mentioned either already has broken 10m or probably will through decent catalog sales.

Wow I didnt know MK DS was that far behind. I thought it was pretty close to AC at around 8 million something.

Say you are right and MK DS doesnt pass 10 mil but the other six do. Would that make it the platform with the most 10 million sellers ever?

I think Animal Crossing has done better in Europe than Mario Kart has, which is sort of surprising. It's done about 4.5 mil in Japan (off the top of my head), probably over 2 million in America, and I think it's safe to guess another 2mil for "Other". So yeah, catalog sales might carry it over a million.

With how well the Brain Training games do in Europe, I think they will also easily get over 10mil world-wide.

So I've begun making a sideways improvement to my line graphs, starting with the original and getting to the others... whenever. I thought it was a bit of a pain to see a pretty good image of the information, but have to look elsewhere if I wanted to see the actual number, so I've changed that. Either through the new option on the page linked above or just tacking "&html=1" onto any of the already-made linecompare.php URLs, it will display the same data in table format, with the regular image underneath.

To grab a random example, this image becomes this page.

Or here's the entirety of 2007 MC weekly numbers. A bit of a mess as an image, but not bad as a table.

Shipment figures through September 2007:

Nintendogs: 15.77 million
Pokemon D/P: 12.17 million
NSMB: 11.5 million
Brain Training: 9.66 million
Mario Kart DS: 8.53 million
Brain Training 2: 7.53 million

Animal Crossing was at 8.01 million through June and didn't ship the required extra million in the following three months to be included in September's figures.

This table making feature is probably what I've been missing the most in your site. Awesome.

Interesting. MK:DS is doing substantially better in Europe than I would have thought. BT2 will pass it fairly soon, though.

Fucking hell, I remember when large parts of gaf were convinced that Nintendogs was a Japanese fad that would never fly in the US/EU, Japan turned out to be it's smallest market : /

Stores here (UK) treat it as one of the top titles along with BT/2 and ACWW and it sells accordingly. Think it might be waning over Xmas due to the lots of other titles, but it's still the go to racing game on the system.

Famitsu gave it the same name, so there is no way to distinguish.

What you fail to take into account is that Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow is a magical game. I've made reference to it before. Don't be fooled into thinking that you can just "sum up" the parts to it and come up with a total. No, no. Magical games don't follow that kind of logic. :p

Oh and it goes without saying that 3rd party Wii software completely bombed. To me it seems clear that Wii owners are buying Wii Fit/Wii Sports/Galaxy (!!!)/ Mario and Sonic and that is sucking up the oxygen for anything else.

Wow, great sales of the Wii mainstays. Great resurgence from Galaxy, much better than I expected. 1million+ still a long way off. Too bad Sonic and Mario also taking advantage of the the wii ""revival", unlike certain 3rd party games.

GT 5 doing soso, worse than I expected.

hahahah.

For those too lazy to click or translate, Pokemon RGB was at 9.98 million as of end of 2000. Which means barring it being completely sold out at that point, it's over 10 million now. Adding in yellow, that makes 11.9 million plus or minus a little bit for the first generation of Pokemon games.

It's virtually impossible that anything will ever do that in Japan again.

PSP sales are pretty damn high too. The red system really helped out. I wonder if the 1-Seg tuner can partially explain weak software sales overall.

Awesome numbers for Layton, DQ4, Wii Fit, Mario Party DS. Also great legs for both Mario & Sonic and SMG. SMG will do more than 100k next week and will reach 750k + by the end of the year and probably 850k + by early January. Very good for it.
Also extremely good numbers for Wii, DS and PSP hardware sales.
