Not that big, but it's doing quite well this year.

1st weeks:
PS2 Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2004 - 32K
PS2 Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2 - 69K
PS2 Pro Baseball Spirits 3 - 74K
PS2 Pro Baseball Spirits 4 - 39K (went up to 49K 2nd week, though. )

PS2 Pro Baseball Spirits 5 - 80K
PS3 Pro Baseball Spirits 5 - 60K

None have hit 200K LTD, but last year's version came the closest.

MH isnt unique or original though. Its an expansion on a game thats already on the system.

Monster Hunter is becoming the PSPs Pokemon. I don't think the PS3 version would help much. I mean, it wouldn't hurt being on PS3. But it seems like the social aspect of being able to group up with friends and play is what sells the game on a portable. Console version cannot have the same social impact. It is like Pokemon. Sell like gangbusters on portable, sell well on console but not even close to the same degree.

Depends how you define success. Monster Hunter 2 on PS2 sold more than any PS3 game and any third party Wii game. It also sold more than Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Selling more than a Zelda game in Japan isnt exactly an amazing barometer of success. I kinda liked your first edit more.
