I've read reports that stocks on all of the generations games are running low in the run up to golden week.

Interesting. This is the thing you see, if stocks are plentiful there will be another decent boost (AC>100k, BT2>100k) over golden week, which will once again bump these titles (and DSL hardware) up.

If there are shortages as you are saying then this would again mean Nintendo not capitalising on sales like they could have done (although it may keep demand high again for a few more weeks after that). Factor in some nice boosts due to Tetris, NSMB, possibly the language games coming up (we know that strong new software releases tend to bump-up the old software) and you have to say that the 50-100k numbers for these top DS games should continue for a while yet.

I demand different charts for games and non-games. When I saw ioi post with Thai dic shit, Korea dic shit and China dic shit, I already knew I had to say this.

Different charts please.

Reason: sales charts are boring now. yep, they are.

Don't worry, I doubt they'll do as well as Brain Training. Maybe Korea. But that's about it.

Is Japan in the mood for more Fushigi no Dungeons? They just had Pokemon, which was actually a combined million seller.

I assume Yangus is replacing Torneko? (I don't know much about DQ so fill me in)

Agreed, I'm not completely up to date on what Yangus is myself, just another DQ Mysterious Dungeon game basically??

Past installments of Toruneko have done week one:

Torunekos Mysterious Dungeon 2 PS 358k (580k total)
Torunekos Mysterious Dungeon 3 PS2 303k (540k total)

http://everythingandnothing.org.uk/vg/japwk.php?week=1&publisher=Chun%20Soft

With a drop-off from 2 to 3 and with the series generally dropping away plus PS2 sales starting to slow then I think 250k will be about the most we can expect (also if the game is more of a spin-off and not by Chun Soft then presumably this will mean lower expectations as well).

For Mother, we have the remakes (which you have to assume a brand new version that has been anticipated for 10 years can at least double) and we also have Mother 2 on the SNES:

Mother 2 SNES 465k (840k total)
Mother 1&2 GBA 170k (370k total)

http://everythingandnothing.org.uk/vg/japcomp.php?name1=Mother+2&name2=Mother+1+%2B+2

Now whether Mother 3 can match 2 will have to be seen, it has the hype and anticipation but 2 was arguably released at a better time on the SNES in terms of sales potential. Will be very interesting. You can see that Mother games tend to be un-Nintendo like in that they drop away quite fast, so first week will be important.

Haha, well I actually think people are overlooking these language games. They won't do BT levels sure, but they should do ok.

Games that stay in the top10 for so long that it becomes boring to see them there :D

But how depressing would the chart be without those games:

1. (PS2, Konami) Pro Baseball Spirits 3 - 69,000
2. (PS2, Namco) Pro Baseball Hot Star 2006 - 52,000
3. (DS, Nintendo) Pokemon Ranger: Diamond & Pearl e-no Michi - 44,000 / 321,000
4. (PS2, Square Enix) Final Fantasy XII - 38,000 / 2,126,000
5. (PS2, Sega) Pro Soccer wo Tsukurou European Championship - 23,000 / 173,000
6. (DS, Nintendo) Mario Kart DS - 23,000 / 1,258,000

It does raise an interesting point that has been made a few times really that in any normal year on any normal system the legs of MK DS would be seen as pretty phenomenal.

That would be me.

Puzzle games are non-games, if I want puzzles I fill soduko puzzles on newspapers.
MMORPG's are non-games because they are just chat programs for people with no lifes.
Sports game are non-games because they just simulate real sports.
Sports manager games are definitely non-games, they just give you statistics and random crap.
Pet simulators are non games, buy a real pet asshole.
Car simulators are non-games, buy a real car idiot.
RPG's are non-games, they are just interactive movies.

No, but you can have one with titles starting with Ñ :x

Oh, and we would need one with a different unit count, lets say with pikmins. Red Pikmin = 1 thousand units

Not as depressing as the fact that Contact might never break 10k now. 20k looks pretty much impossible. Same for Xenosaga I+II but we at least expected that. :lol

So if Seiken DS pulled 10k at least this week, it would have officially broken 200k now. While the figures are decent, I have this feeling Seiken PS2 is soooo going to bomb based on how much the fanbase has dwindled.

I'd have to agree. As I said for DQ Yangus I think PS2 sales are starting to fade now, games won't pull the sort of figures they would 2 years ago so I definitely can't see Seiken PS2 living up to people's expectations.

As for COM, I hold my hands up and am happy to say I was wrong- I really didn't think it would have any kind of legs like this (SD games never really have in the past) but I guess DS hardware is driving sales at the moment. Like others I think had the DSL launch been much bigger we'd have seen closer to 200k week 1, but with these kind of legs 250k is easily within reach and 300k possible. DS software is generally a bit down on last week (so I'd expect hardware to be less and be the cause) but Brain Flex has been doing around 13-15k last few weeks on MC so a rough guess would put COM on around 11-12k this week which isn't bad at all really.

This is NOT the definite software chart. It is impossible that Brain Training 1 & 2 and Animal Crossing have sold nothing at all after an incredible amount of week around 60-100k.

The first one in the first page is the right estimation.

Lancubap whooshed.

Anyway, I'm surprised that CoM is getting some legs. It's definitely got about 300k in it.

For some reason, I don't think Okami will crack the top 20. I don't know what the general buzz about the game is in Japan, but I get the feeling it won't do well. 15k launch, <100k lifetime.

Do you think that for 52+ weeks a game has sold constant around 50-70k and then, suddenly, without motivations, in this week has done < 7k ?

For me is impossible. And there's the fact that we are not speaking about 1 game, but 3 games (Brain Training 1 + 2 and Animal Crossing): so it is still more impossible.

Well, there's no chance that this is the right software chart. The first one in the first page is the best estimation for me.

Read the thread man.

This is the real chart minus all 'non-games' (whatever they are) and sports games. The one on the front page is the real chart (not an estimation).

However every new generation tends to recover the sales quite a bit but I have a feeling It wont happen with PS3... :/ and with raising dev. cost, uh oh. :(

Well, FFVI sold more than the previous FFs even though it was much more expensive... games like the DKC series were also pretty strong late in the SNES' life.

According to Famitsu numbers, Brain Training was 1.920.467 units sold on 02 April, that means now it has already overpassed 2 millions score.... impressive, Nintendo is making tons of money with easy concepts
