A million down, but we're about to go through some very bad months in 2011. Combined with the much larger second half of the year this time, and yeah, software should show some good improvement. What was 2010 and 2009 through this week?

2009 might be too far back to have data. Not sure about catching up to 2010's pace with it being 5m ahead at this point, but if enough big guns come out late, maybe. Passing 2011 is much more doable, though.

Actually, 2010 had Pokemon Black/White and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd come out in the rest of the year (among some other million-sellers), so 2010 looks to be a good ways out of reach, at this point. :lol

As I've said before, the console market in Japan is just terrible all around right now.

At least on the hardware side, things seem a bit better than they were before the last generational transition.

Can we expect around 250k units for Shining Blade? I don't see any bigger for the PSP apart from 2nd Super Robot Wars Z: Regeneration Chapter.

Japanese people do truly love this title, it is my favorite game of this generation after Demon's Souls.

With Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition - Twin Pack released this week, there will be in no time a million units of Resident Evil 5 sold on PS3.

In an interview that was posted to Nikkei Trendy today, Namco Bandai CEO Shin Unozawa said that the PS3 crossover title has topped the 900,000 mark as of March 15. This figure includes Japan and Asia.

Unozawa also spoke about Namco Bandai's sales success for older titles. Dark Souls has crossed the 1.6 million mark worldwide. This includes the game's 400,000 Japanese domestic sales (in Japan, the game is published through From Software).

Tales of Xillia topped 760,000 units while Gundam Extreme sold around 600,000 units. Said Unozawa, the PS3 market isn't as strong as the PS2 was back in its day, but the system has established itself.
