So what are we expecting for OPPW3? Less than 200k?

Media Create Sales: Week 9, 2012 (Feb 27 - Mar 04)

01./00. [PS3] One Piece: Pirate Warriors # <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.03.01} (¥8.190) - 655.774 / NEW <92,07%>

Media Create Sales: Week 12, 2013 (Mar 18 - Mar 24)

02./00. [PS3] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 # <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.03.20} (¥8.190) - 274.625 / NEW <67,51%>
05./00. [PSV] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.03.20} (¥7.140) - 60.315 / NEW <75,69%>

Second game declined almost 50% at first week. There will be a softer drop this time but still it won't top 250k at best.

Since we started again with new baselines and PS4 it won't average even 20k after Golden Week with these releases. Almost everything is irrelevant until MGSV.

Personally I don't see the PS3 version over 110k by much.

PSV and PS4 will amount to less than 100k surely. So I'd say 200k or less is more likely than almost 250k. But we'll see.

Title - First week -> Second Week
Mario Kart 8 - 350.749 -> 75.030 (-79%)
Smash Bros. Wii U - 244.747 -> 84.269 (-66%)
Super Mario 3D World - 106.967 -> 39.306 (-63%)
Pikmin 3 - 102.188 -> 30.997 (-70%)
Hyrule Warriors - 78.773 -> 15.142 (-78%)
Mario Party 10 - 51.452 -> 24.254 (-53%)
DKC:TF - 43.301 -> 14.330 (-60%)
Bayonetta 2 - 33.114 -> 9.284 (-72%)
Fatal Frame - 32.476 -> 8.100 (-75%)
Captain Toad - 29.985 -> 13.513 (-55%)

So Mario Party 10's 2nd week > the 2nd week sales of most Wii U titles (except those that opened 100K+).

The bulk of development for both was by Silicon Studio lead by a few people from Square Enix.
Actually even leadership is mostly Silicon which is why it exists (since internal directors were all pointed elsewhere).

Asano is the producer, but the director and lead designers are Silicon staff.

I just checked Senran Kagura: Estival Versus on a number of online stores for major retailers and they're mostly sold out. All 4 SKUs are sold out on Amazon.co.jp, Animate, Bic Camera, Gamers, Imagine, Joshin, Tsutaya, Trader, WonderGoo and Yamada Denki. Both Limited Editions are sold out on HMV Japan and Yodobashi Camera, with regular editions still available. Either this game sold unexpectedly well or is severely undershipped, but more likely the latter due to Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson's bombing.

Another "Minecraft bundle", this time from Geo, which is a bigger shop than the previous I posted on last week

Nice to see retailers pushing Minecraft and Vita. Hopefully it'll continue to sell well.

I honestly could see it being the top selling game on Vita when it's all said and done, but we'll see =).

For what it's worth, Xenoblade X at least has some preorders a good month before it releases, so that's nice. It's one of those games advertised since a bit after launch, so at least it should have more exposure than the average Wii U title.

Also DQX's relatively consistent sales on Wii U makes me wonder if there is any more money to be made there in DQ related games. Maybe a DL only DQ spinoff game that graces Wii U in addition to other platforms? It's just interesting.

Same sell-through?

It's not really about how fast PS4 drops after this week, but how much it drops as it stabilises.

The baseline needs to at least go up from 10k to 15k weekly even on dead weeks. PS4 is effectively dead long-term if it can only do good numbers on major software weeks.

Did retailers really order 150k worth of FF Type-O?

That seems excessive.

Edit: Welp already 37% off on Amazon.

Exactly 1k? can't tell if someone was lazy or they really tracked 1k, either way that's XO sales for ya right there.

Japanese Xbox One games are going to sell for a lot to collectors many years down the road, as they'll all have print runs of 500 to a few thousand and be super rare later on.

This is not Type 0 doing "well." Nor is it promising numbers for the FFXV Demo. If I were Square Enix I would be worried.

At the same time, it's not surprising. How many Japanese Square fans both own or are willing to buy a PS4 and are willing to buy Type 0 ... again ... at a high price point? Probably not many without the FFXV Demo. Even with the demo, less than 100K. That's not much for hype.

[PSV] [PS3] Sword Art Online: Lost Song # <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) - more than 60% (already passable for a sequel)

[PSV] [PS4] Senran Kagura Estival Versus # <ACT> (Marvelous) - more than 60%

[3DS] Theatrhythm Dragon Quest <ACT> (Square Enix) - 30% (big shipment)

[PS3] Pro Baseball Spirits 2015 <SPT> (Konami) - 40%
[PSV] Pro Baseball Spirits 2015 <SPT> (Konami) - 30%
(where is the PS4 version, Konami?)

[PS4] Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance # <SLG> (Nippon Ichi Software) - If only it had been released the beginning of march...

Agreed, a console should at some point start selling based on the strength its catalogue rather than merely spiking at every big release. Over time those spikes should get smaller and smaller.

What surprises me is how many people seem to expect a complete collapse in sales after the next month or so. Does a big percentage of the audience in Japan really buy based on weekly releases rather than on the size/content of a consoles catalogue?

I wonder how big the shipment was. Preorders were average but this might be a game selling well over the weekend. TFF games opened between 65k and 70k so I don't think SQEX was expecting much more.

as long as japan is considered, they don't seem to be interested in better looking/playing versions of games as much as in the west so the catalogue that you speak of ends up looking weak during weeks with no new releases. IMO the only relevant title that entices japan audience right now is dqh and that is also on ps3 so probably the majority that were interested probably already bought it on ps3 or ps4 by now. so yea you kinda need weekly releases to entice them to pick up a ps4 to complement the bigger crossplat games atleast for the time being.

ps4 only big games are the requirement of the times but that doesn't seem possible for another year with mgs and persona also on ps3.

barring a surprise ffxv release this holiday i can only see decent spikes during times of major releases this year. next year should be huge for ps4

Ouch, is D5 performed really badly? Definitely a wrong week to launch it. Competing with so many games like BB, OP and SAO, tho all of them are not on same genre. Is this series have a long leg, based on previous iterations?

That is true. 4HoL was directed by Takashi Tokita and someone from Matrix(I forget their name) but Tokita does mobile stuff now.

What is the reasonable prediction for Bloodborne in Japan next week? I am not sure if Souls games did well in Japan before. Can we expect PS4 to increase the previous week's numbers or atleast hold this number?

Souls games do around 300k+ in Japan. It's not mainline Biohazard or FF, but that's a good number.

Realistically, I'd think 150k would be a good number.

I think something like 120-150k for Bloodborne and 35-40k for PS4 would be reasonable expectations.

Sorry, I was in a hurry so I couldn't post everything. No numbers were given for Disgaea 5. hiska-kun already translated the comments above.

Also missing are the numbers for Deception IV: Another Princess. I guess it sold poorly too.

Dang, what happened to zeromcd73? Why was he banned? D:

Well, the vanilla version debuted at 24k on PS3 and 18k on PSV so I think numbers won't be as higher, probably around 2/3 or a half of that.

Yeah, you're most probably right. Wouldn't be surprised if it ends up in the bargain bins with Disgaea 5.
