Prepare for DQ11 exclusive to new 3DS.
That makes no sense at all. The New 3DS isn't expected to even match the PS3's ltd.

It would defeat putting it on the platform with the highest install base which is what made the 3DS the most likely candidate to begin with (before Horii's big screen comment).

[WiiU]零 ~濡鴉ノ巫女~ - 17pt

Fatal Frame for Wii U appearing in the Comgnet stores pre-orders top 20 before Bayonetta 2. Should have announced a Jibanyan costume for her.

dead.gif

Also, this whole DQX for the 3DS situation (small stock and not available on eShop), it seems to me Square Enix is effectively running a paid beta testing. =P

Fatal frame is going to sell more than Bayo 2.......god damn if it turns out true.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Also, does anyone of our Japanese members know how the Fatal Frame movie/manga is being advertised or received so far? The movie releases a day before the game right?

Also Amazon JP:
Bayonetta 2 - #37
Mario Kart 8 - #40 (keep in mind the PS4 is #25)
Zelda Musou - #46
Fatal Frame - #59

comgnet for Hyrule Warriors before:
Sold:
Hyrule Warriors- 105+22= 127 total
Preorders:
8/14 - Hyrule Warriors- 33+20= 53 total
8/4 - Hyrule Warriors- 18+15= 33 total
7/24 - Hyrule Warriors premium pack debuts with 12 points. (21 days before release)

So if I'm not mistaken, Fatal Frame has actually debuted better than Hyrule to start its preorders (17 preorders 23 days before release).

Hyrule Warriors also represents a case of a Musou game with a bigger actual sales / preorder pts than usual, compared to most recent releases...at least in 2013

Using final preorders for most recent Musou games and Famitsu datas (only retail)

[PS3] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 - 269,035 / 243pt + 24pt= 267pt --> 269,035 / 267pt = 1.007
[PSV] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 - 54,509 / 34pt = 1,603*
[PS3] Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends - 36,588 / 41pt --> 0.892
[PS3] Shin Gundam Musou - 113,493 / 126pt --> 0.901
[PSV] Shin Gundam Musou - 44,889 / 24pt --> 1.873
[PS3] Samurai Warriors 4 - 149,068 / 107pt + 15pt = 122pt --> 1.222
[PSV] Samurai Warriors 4 - 43,545 / 26pt --> 1.675*
[WiiU] Hyrule Warriors - 78,773 / 53pt --> 1.486

And this is considering special editions in the same way as normal editions, which could be seen as something incorrect, since they're preordered by core customers, so they should be counted as less than 1pt for accurate comparisons IMHO.

Hyrule Warriors has been more in line with latest Musou titles on Vita compared to the PS3 ones. It could be a consequence of Nintendo games usually getting higher ratios than other games... or more a consequence of the higher general ratio I was talking about a few days ago: see how the ratio increased for SW4 on PS3, or how The Last of Us Remastered, despite not charting at all in charts (20th was at 17pts) sold 29,156 in its first week, or...

[PS4] Watch Dogs - 65,630 / 38pt --> 1.727
[PS3] Watch Dogs - 39,060 / 17pt --> 2.298

As you can see, the ratio seems to have increased compared to the recent past in general.
Even if there are still cases where it doesn't seem to have changed that much: mainly, for more hardcore series, which kind of makes sense

[PSV] Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus - 91,639 / 50pt + 49pt = 99pt --> 0.926
[3DS] Senran Kagura 2: Crimson - 47,325 / 32pt + 18pt = 50pt --> 0.9465

Maybe it's because more people is using Amazon.co.jp for preorders right now compared to the past, especially for more mainstream releases.

*Special Edition for the PSV SKU didn't chart, meaning that it had actually more pts --> lower ratio, but probably not by that much for the earlier considerations about special edition's impact

Well, yeah, this was expected considering there's been the Direct. And it's actually a bigger jump when you consider that New 3DS has entered the charts (first accessories, then the XL, and then the smaller model). What must be seen is if such a jump will be sustained or not: even W101 saw a big jump after the Direct. And it reached around 55th as its highest placement in charts...yeah, poor W101 ;___;

Ah, right. As our insanely fast user L~A (seriously, you're too fast :lol )reported here, there's an updated version for The 3DS Attack on Titans game coming out this December, including online play.

I wonder why Square-Enix would even risk releasing the game in that state. It's not like there was a rush to release DQX on 3DS. Does the smartphone version run well? Or is it kind of like this? Is it possible that for some reason their servers are overloaded?

What's the risk though? It's a cloud based MMO for an additional platform. This was pretty much the only way it would get released on the 3DS, so between not releasing anything at all and trying something that some people might not find ideal, it's not much of a risk for S-E. That doesn't mean it's a great product, but it's pretty much what it is. All those complaints pretty much come with the territory of releasing a cloud-based MMO not designed for a 400x240 screen.

I don't think you can reach any conclusion of sort with such a small sample size (like what, 10 observations) and without a proper significance testing.

Those Geist Crusher sales must be catastrophic, I doubt retail ordered much in the first place. I know kids games aren't ever frontloaded but yikes. Will it even make the top 30?

SW4 is probably headed for another sub-10k Musou debut on PS4. And yet it's still getting every Musou game.

Omega Force is working on like 500 different Musou games at once, a PS4 port is probably something they'd do in their sleep.

How did they manage to ship so many copies of Gaist Crusher that it could have such poor sellthrough again? Surely retailers learnt from last time.

I'd say "Maybe the shipment was smaller and it was selling even less" but it sold like 6k first week last time, iirc...

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Oh, cacpcom :(
Especially when you consider how low the ordered shipments from retailers must have been after the first game bombed.

Don't know what Capcom is thinking, especially when they release these titles around the same time a MH.

Unless Gaist Crusher god was a contractual obligation with Treasure, I seriously don't understand why Capcom even bothered.

At least Hero Bank sold something, so a sequel is slightly more justified if the costs are low.

Hero Bank sold through its initial shipment without any price drop.

Gaist Crusher God was probably already planned, before the launch of the original one. After all, for this kind of games, expansions are quite common.

That makes no sense at all. The New 3DS isn't expected to even match the PS3's ltd.

It would defeat putting it on the platform with the highest install base which is what made the 3DS the most likely candidate to begin with (before Horii's big screen comment).

Expected by who?

Frontier goes against what made the MH games successful on handhelds. It's an always-online MMO that features no local multiplayer, even on Vita. Monster Hunter became a thing because of its local multiplayer.

The games themselves have a similar business model, but the distribution methods are different enough to make a comparison really difficult. According to this thread, the only way to play Dragon Quest X on 3DS is if you buy the retail release. You can download Monster Hunter Frontier G's client for free on PSN for Vita and PS3. Everyone that's playing DQX on 3DS will have their copy show up on Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki's lists. That's not the case for MHFG.

It's a strange comparison too. DQX 3DS should sell more. It's the more popular game on the more popular platform.

You are actually pointing out another similarity between both titles. DQX is also a game that goes against to what actually made Dragon Quest successful, in fact it is the first DQ game on consoles that actually only work online.

Also beeing honest the transition to Frontier has been actually far less jarring than DQ in fact Monster Hunter was meant for subscription based online play since its creation and in its first two releases on PS2, sure you could also play it offline but that was more of a safety net than anything else, very similar to the first Phantasy Star Online games on DC and GC.

Also about the medium or the way Frontier and DQX are sold. I don´t see any reason to hide behind "digital-sales", in fact I think DQX actually has a slight disadvantage since its retail release isn´t exactly a physical release besides the package.

Maybe only by me but looking at DSi 10 million seems out of reach. I thought that'd be the consensus here as well.

Yeah, in the best case the n3DS (+LL) shouldn't be more than 5-6M. It's a stopgap console happening a lot closer to the expected launch date of the next "true" nintendo handheld than before, with a different market (buying less and probably already close to saturation).
Still a really nice improvement that should revive a bit the 3DS sales.

Square Enix has officially responded to some of the complaints about Dragon Quest X on 3DS. The feedback about the font making kanji unreadable is the main one they seem to be tackling seriously. They say they've taken the feedback into account and will try to increase readability as much as possible. There are also complaints of login problems, which seems to be a congestion issue. It might sort itself out, but they're looking into it as well and will try to improve the service.

The issue about the game having input lag and skipping sound is something that they probably won't address, since it's inherent in the cloud nature of the game. They simply state that if the network conditions are not ideal, these things can happen. They recommend not downloading huge files or streaming other videos on the same network while playing the game. Lol.

You're probably right it's just the way you said it grated me a little, though it not releasing in the west til next year is making me think we might not see the 4ds now til early 2017 so I don't think it's completely impossible for the new 3ds to beat the ps3

Considering that neither the original 3DS nor the XL model has beaten the PS3 so far (though the OG is close), I think it's very very unlikely that the third model will do it. I might be wrong but I'd be very surprised.

Why are you counting the 3ds + 3ds Seperately? They're just different sized versions of the exact same thing and now there's 2 different sized versions of the new 3ds

GamesMaya's report

- It can't be said that One had a brilliant launch.
- The majority of buyers were people with pre-order.
- Pre-orders for Destiny PS4 and PS3 are strong. The PS4 bundle is popular too.
- Just one week left for Super Smash Bros for 3DS. Looking forward for that great launch. Great week is expected.

Square Enix also put out that Transformers knock-off thingy I forget the name of now.

I think you're reffering to Gyrozetter series. Though it really didn't look good from the start when we found out Honda refused to collaborate (because they never wanted their vehicle to "fight" against e/a).
