Media Create Sales: Week 41, 2013 (Oct 07 - Oct 13)

60k is great, but next week will be the real story of where Vita's momentum will be at.

Let's hope Vita sustains itself well over the next 4 weeks until its November megaton, God Eater 2 is released. That should inject a lot more life into the system until the December Final Fantasy release.

That SEGA soccer game had some insane expectations, right?

Dangan Ronpa should easily clear Spike Chunsoft's 100k goal.

Almost 390k for GTA5. That's a much larger launch than I think most people expected. Could actually clear 500k at this rate.

Before I opened this thread I was thinking to myself, okay, Vita is probably between 8k and 12k, I'll be surprised if it's much higher than that.

Clearly I'm not ready for the Japan SalesGAF competitions yet. Holy crap.

I might be being an asshole, but the posts in the last MC thread (Noone in Vita line, none moving at that one store, Amazon musings, etc) had me thinking the Vita would've done far less.

Poor Wii U.

On the other hand Pokémon is a monster and a really good weak for Vita. Will be interesting to see if it holds.

Is that number bad or good judging by past Compile Heart games?
Seems like their best first week sales ever. The first shipment sold out, and they sent out a notice apologizing for the lack of stock and promising a new shipment today.

Anyway, very happy for the Vita numbers. Hopefully it won't go down too fast until God Eater 2 arrives next month.

If nothing else, this was smart time for the new model and colors.

God Eater 2 coming up will deliver a significant bump I imagine, and FFX/X2 next month should help as well.

Plus the smaller inbetween releases too.

Also I'm impressed by Sen no Kiseki staying on the charts despite the loading issues. Another 10,000 this week is pretty solid.

We know that it wont do a whole lot for underlying Vita sales but 60k certainly beat all expectations. The week before it was announced the Vita sold just over 5k.

And people thought that Vita wouldn't go up by much. Personally, I didn't expect it rise this much. There are a few releases this week as well as new Vita model and I think people were holding out until the new model would come out.

Vita TV coming in a month with God Eater 2, will be interesting how many units will that do.

I thought Pokemon would push more 3DSs though.

Very impressive GTA5 numbers.

I figured there was enough pent up demand for the new Vita models to get it into the 30's, not this.
I don't see the LE for Fencer.

Pokemon X / Y, GTA V (PS3 + 360), and Fairy Fencer F are all operating under a 80-100% sell-through, a very healthy sell-through rate.

Soccer Tsuku PSV + F1 2013 at 40-60% look like they're underwhelming sales-wise.

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
I actually expected more Vita sales.

Now it will be interesting to see how the Vita TV helps as there is clearly at least some interest in Vita there.

I expected much smaller bump for Vita

Pokemon not killing Vita can be explained by diffrent audience.
MH4 was going directly after fans of PSP while Pokemon is franchise everyone knows will be on Nintendo handheld so it was factored in buying decisions since beginning.

Also i told people they are underestimating Dangan Ronpa :) It was selling for weeks in top 30 when anime started airing.

3DS and Pokemon didn't disappoint. Vita is surprising. We knew that the low sells meant people had to have been waiting for the new models, but I didn't think it'd sell like this. Will it continue? Who knows.

Wii U.... Man, get back in the game! I hate to see a system sell so poorly...

That SEGA soccer game had some insane expectations, right?

Both versions had negative comments on amazon, i don`t know about PS3 version, but PSV`s one has a small text, so it's difficult to read, especially if you don`t know some kanji and need to translate them
I bought the game and after 1 hour i had to stop due to an incoming headache, i sold it back today and i just lost 900yen (payed 5,900yen on amazon and sold to book-off for 5,000yen)

i had great expectation for this game, but honestly it`s almost unplayable :(

A lot going on this week:

-Pokemon X/Y as expected did phenomenal which is no surprise.
-Playstation Vita did much better than I anticipated which is wavy.
-Grand Theft Auto put up some good numbers too!
-WiiU... under 3.5k... SMH.

If PS Vita can hold its momentum til God Eater 2 is released that'd be a huge boon for both GE2 (which will sell well anyway) and the Vita. Sony would be crazy not to do a GE2 bundle.

In that case .nobody is ready for sales GAF competitions Yet as Vita caught everyone by surprise.

I do actually wonder if the upcoming wii u bundles could breathe a bit of life in to windwaker, not saying I expect miracles but say a Zelda fan doesn't own a wii u yet and was planning on picking one up for it its quite likely some would've held off til the bundles release

Here's a comparison with the more notable GTA series sales in Japan (Famitsu numbers, Media Create doesn't go back far enough):

GTA3 - 358,917
GTA3 Re-release - 96,538

GTA VC - 410,293
GTA VC Re-release - 191,280

GTA SA - 412,100
GTA SA Re-release - 47,592

GTA LCS (PSP) - 125,507
GTA LCS (PSP) Re-release - 90,925
GTA LCS (PS2) - 74,286

GTA VCS (PSP) - 80,420
GTA VCS (PSP) Re-release - 121,920
GTA VCS (PS2) - 31,760

GTA4 (PS3) - 211,240
GTA4 (PS3) Re-release - 87,306
GTA4 (XB) - 65,486

GTA4 Episodes from Liberty City (PS3) - 120,600

Crazy Pokémon sales, but that's to be expected. The real story is the new Vita model, it lives!
kind of at least

I just don't understand why? The new model is more of a downgrade than an upgrade, do Japanese gamers really hate OLED or something?

Sony would be crazy not to do a GE2 bundle.

You were saying? =)
