Good news yet sad news at the same time.

We've been waiting for Legends 3 for a LONG time. Even longer than Shenmue 3. This is no time to get picky.cosmicblizzard said:Not ONE post of blatant port begging? Jeez, not even people the price can ruin this announcement apparently.

Technically it wasn't a great realization of MM any more than Metroid Prime was a great 3D realization of Metroid. That said, I still liked MML better than the original MM titles.Sklorenz said:Great realization of MM in 3D. Can't wait to see what's new and how they improve it. Will slightly lessen hype due to the director until media is available.
Prime crotch said:Finally, Volnutt's tired of waiting on the moon.
MoxManiac said:He's too niche. MvC3 needs classic MM, he's one of Capcom's biggest icons.

That's the thing though. You want Trigger/Volnutt to STOP being so "niche"? EXPOSE HIM SOME MORE. All of this exposure for DASH/Legends has to make it so that the public is aware of Trigger, so that he's not given the "WTF is this guy?!" treatment.
Even as much as I'm a lil sad that Rockman X has been passed up (again....), you have to admit that marketing the DASH series this last decade is the main way that DASH has stayed in the public eye. Trigger was always meant to be the "Rockman of a new generation", and he can still be that, if his new game lives up to that promise.
kenta said:Bummer that Inafune was talking about Mega Man Legends 3 as the sequel he always wanted to make. Was hoping it would be Duck Tales 2
It's not actually popular, it's just a niche series that some gamers love and have been waiting for a sequel for a long time. Just look at how slow this thread is.Futureman said:When did this series become so popular?
I've been out of the videogame loop for like 4 years, and I never remember anyone EVER making a big deal over this series.
Now everyone is acting like it's the most cherished franchise ever.
Not saying it isn't justified, but I honestly don't remember Legends being that well received. I dunno.
Uhh, that's not really saying anything considering that Metroid Prime is far and away the greatest realization of a classic game series in 3D of all time while Mega Man Legends was easily one of the worst.Lance Bone Path said:Technically it wasn't a great realization of MM any more than Metroid Prime was a great 3D realization of Metroid.
bon said:The fan involvement probably won't be very large. It will probably just be stuff like, "Hey check out these character designs!" and then they'll have a poll on what design is the best.

HOW!FrostuTheNinja said:Who cares, the game is 10 years old now. PLAY THEM!
The point being that neither of those 3D incarnations plays that much like their 2D incarnations. Without getting into the issue of whether or not I loved/hated these games, I think Zelda: OOT was a far better 3D realization of Zelda than Prime was of Metroid. I would put Prime very near the bottom of my list of 3D realizations.nincompoop said:Uhh, that's not really saying anything considering that Metroid Prime is far and away the greatest realization of a classic game series in 3D of all time while Mega Man Legends was easily one of the worst.

And it looks like quite a few were silenced now that it's going to be on a handheld. :lolRegulus Tera said:Why do you think this series stopped being made?
MML was never popular. It's just that its fans are vocal as hell.
Exactly. It rode on the Mega Man brand but it didn't set out to be a 3D execution of classic MM.PepsimanVsJoe said:What is this all about?
Megaman Legends was designed to be nothing like any of the prior games. It took some basic concepts yeah but in no way does it try to be something like "Megaman in 3D" or "Megaman with some different controls".
Swifty said:Weren't some of you guys heaping a pile of shit on Inafune for being all self-deprecating about the Japanese games industry?
Inafune redeemed I guess.
Really? I recall legends 1 and 2 having really outstanding dubs for their time. Teisel Bonne, Tron, Servbots, Glyde were all great. I only really hated Megaman's voice in the 2nd game for sounding like a woman.CrunchyFrog said:That being said, I have one request, Capcom: may the MML2 English voice dubs forever burn in hell. If Volnutt sounds like a whiny 6-year-old again I swear I will take a power drill to Inafune's ear drums.
Agreed. Mega Man sounded 100% female in MML2. :lolCrunchyFrog said:That being said, I have one request, Capcom: may the MML2 English voice dubs forever burn in hell. If Volnutt sounds like a whiny 6-year-old again I swear I will take a power drill to Inafune's ear drums.

Most of the power ups could not be switched on the fly aside from the normal blaster and what little you could do with the blaster was re-balance various parameters like RoF, range, and power. Almost all the bosses could be fought by locking on, strafing, and hitting the jump or the dodge button on occasion while holding down the blaster button. The bosses moved differently from each other, but it wasn't necessary to do anything differently to dispatch them.CrunchyFrog said:While not the most direct conversion from 3D to 2D, i think MML came pretty damn close. Yeah it's more action adventure/rpg-ish than the linear stage by stage arcade action of the original series, but there's still plenty of powerups to be had, baddies to destroy, bosses to fight requiring quick reflexes and closely watched attack patterns. The one complaint I had was that the exploration could be a bit slow a times with backtracking and whatnot (MML2 fixed this somewhat.) I'll agree though and say the MP series takes the crown on the most perfect transition from 2D to 3D.

Roll's voice was cute though! I'd like it if they got the same actress for her. The Bonnes were good too.
Yep.Regulus Tera said:Going handheld is probably the only chance this franchise has at ever succeeding.
