It should be clear why. Because their favorite console is no longer #1.... and no longer dictating the type of games being developed.

Even though Private Hoffman and I were not best buds I kind of loved the debate to be honest.

I've worked in retail electronics since 2006. A lot of people have just bought new 360s instead of getting a replacement from Microsoft. They did this even after I told them they could get free ones. This happened frequently, as is a few times a week. If it's happening in my relatively small area, I'm sure it's a pattern replicated across the country.Narpas Sword0 said:if you went out and bought another when when you are in line with a free one, i'd have to say that's pretty stupid. I'd also have to say that the average joe schmoe consumer is not going to do something like that when he has a free 360 on the way.
GBA, DS, PSP, PS2, and PS3 all have second (and soemtimes third) revisions that surely lead to at least as much double dipping as any RROD issue, and yet I don't see those sales threads consumed with all this conspiracy wonk bullshit.

I don't think they're stupid for doing so either. I'd rather buy a new one than get a refurb. Those things don't have the best reputation.

REMEMBER CITADEL said:No, Arcade went down to $199 in September of 2008. And like I sad, Elite did go down to Premium's price point, but the price point itself remained the same. You didn't pay less, you got more (120 GB of hard drive space instead of 60 GB; unfortunately, that's also when they removed the HDMI cable).

Congrats to Microsoft for shipping 40.2 million consoles, but one has to consider at what cost. RRoD and popular Microsoft published games not seeing (or very late) PC releases including Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 3 and soon even Alan Wake. PC gaming seems to be suffering because of the XBox 360.
It will be interesting to see if PS3 sales have been able to push beyond 36 million last quarter as expected (despite the shortages in Europe and North America). That would put the PS3 ~6 million ahead of XBox 360 with aligned launches.
Not bad for an overpriced, underpowered games console lacking games! :lol

I never understood the whole fanboy/favorite console thing. Not to the point of fighting over it anyway. The only way I'd ever be that loyal to a product or brand is if it's making me money. Even then, J. Allard back in the day even mentioned that he played all the consoles. To me, that's a true gamer. You don't have to own them all but at least be opened to them all.LosDaddie said:Nah, just ignore them whenever they post because it's known they are little more than shills for their favorite console. Sony repaired my PS2 twice, for free. Well after it was out of warranty. You could get Sony to repair a PS2 for free with some finagling.
MS admitted to it's hardware problems and backed their product.
Sony camp still denies any problems with PS3 and you get socked with the $150 Sony Tax to keep playing games. :|
Thunder Monkey said:I didn't have the same experience with Sony. My PS2 was barely a year out of warranty and I was told pretty succinctly "Our policy is to charge for repairs." $175 to repair a system I'd bought for $350 (with Ridge Racer). I got pissy, told the person on the line "Sony's lost a loyal customer." they responded with "Sorry sir."
I've been thinking about getting a PS3 or PSP... but then I remember that bullshit and I just go back to thinking fuck 'em.
D.Lo said:So, Wii shipped won't pass PS360 shipped this quarter. If Wii is, say, 4 million, and PS3 hits 36 mill LTD as seems expected, it makes it 71.4 vs 76.2. If Wii is 5 million and PS3 only hits 35, 72.4 vs 75.2, we're getting damn close.
Next quarter is possible, but most likely calendar Q3 2010. And it will blow past by calendar Q4.
