The original gamerscore correction will remain permanent without any way to appeal.

I’ve had my gamerscore corrected, is there any way to appeal the decision?
There is no way to appeal a gamerscore correction. We only correct gamerscores for players who meet the criteria 100%. Your best choice is to show the community you won’t do it again.

"We're right and you're wrong. If you don't like it, pay $50 and try again." I can only imagine the customer service nightmare this is going to become. There are going to be mistakes made, and as far as that page reads, the corporate response is a flaming middle finger with no attempt at offering accountability.

You don't have to pay $50 to create a new account.

A new Silver account, no, but if you ever wanted to play online afterward without people pointing and screaming "CHEATER!" in your face from that point onward...

The more I think about it, the suggestion on the last page sounds right, gamerscore is going to start mattering a lot more somehow, and this is clean-up and scare tactics so people can't abuse the system when that happens.

So does Avatar count as cheating? That's pretty abnormal.

That's awsome :lol

I definately do not think you should be banned for this as it really is a useless score. But the people that jack there's up generally care about them so this really hit's them where it hurts.

/looks at his 16 games with his 3k gamerscore...think I'm safe...for now

I think it's the best solution really.
1) their "work" erased
2) public humiliation
3) microsoft still gets to earn "Live Gold" dollars from them (at least till it expires)

Why isn't the Heroic Map Pack free yet?

Oh how I loved checking the Major Nelson blog back when I had my 360. It's like 'When are we getting in-game XMB' but for 360 fans.

When abnormal achievement or gamerscore activity is found, LIVE modifies the gamerscore of players who meet specific and automated criteria.

Does playing Avatar count as cheating?

Anyways, this is retarded.

How are they going to judge if you're using a savegame or not?

"OH SHIT HE BEAT JUMPER IN 4 HOURS AND GOT ALL THE ACHIEVES! HE'S CHEATING!"

more like "oh shit he beat 17 games in 4 hours with all achievements, including two seperate skus of bioshock, and his gamerscore is 246,525"

I don't think there can be much doubt about this though. These guys get points for games they don't ever played. MS definitely has logs of when people play a game (while online of course), and it would be very easy for them to notice so very abnormal behavior in that people are *always* getting their achievements offline even when they spend hundreds of hours playing online too.
If there are false positives, they will be *very* marginal.

If someone does stick with their cheater account while their gold subscription lasts, and people actively go look at their profile, find them out and call them a cheater during multiplayer, well boo hoo! They shouldn't have cheated, that's part of the punishment. They could still mute voice chat if they're taunted and can't cope with it.

Like BlimBlim says, it's probably very easy for Microsoft to spot the cheats.

I don't care much about Gamerscore, but I do just love the bitter justice that comes from people who try to skirt around the system getting caught.

hrm... if someone is harassed by others due to a 'cheater' label, could they sue microsoft and win?

They did it because it undermines the significance of the gamerscore system. It's a competitive advantage they have against all other platforms. If anyone can cheat their way to impossibly difficult achievements and higher gamerscore, then it becomes meaningless and achievements will stop being a differentiator and start becoming a joke to the community.

What section in the TOU covers this kind of behavior?

Good riddance. That's a big fucking scarlet letter right there, Microsoft is going all 17th century on their asses.

all cheating does is increase their gamerscore (but not being able to actually "cheat" online)? Some people value their e-peens a little too much.

Does it need to? Gamerscore isn't something you're signing up for when you open a gold or silver account. You'd have one on your local account if you never connected to the internet. As a result i'd imagine they can change how they want it to work on a whim.

This one?

(vi) using or distributing unauthorized cheats, macros or scripts; (vii) exploiting any bug, or making unauthorized modifications to any software or data, in the Service or particular game to gain unfair advantage in a game.

lol....

Why not ban any one who ever cheat on a game while they at it.:lol

If they don't want people to cheat stop making games so easy to cheat, hell i was at yesterday at borders and there is a book, which read get 16,000 gamer score in 2 days and detailed several easy ways to get those score across several different games.

Hell i don't even know why this is a big deal,is not like they are cheating online gamerscores serve pretty much for nothing,it most be that mayor nelson was mad because several people had more gamer points than he did.

Did you actually READ the story? They're only punishing people that used external tools to copy saved games. I wouldn't call that "easy to cheat". In fact, save game hacking is almost impossible to stop. What do you expect them to do?

And no, they're not going to punish people for exploiting in-game flaws. They're not that stupid.

Yeah Casinoguy the top of the leader looks fucked. If the Country records work how I think they work he moved from the US to Chile and back again every two hours on the 8th March. If he isn't cheating he's got a second hand Concorde stashed away somewhere.

On Casinoguy's game list, how is it that he got 1000/1000 points but yet only got 26 out of 50 achievements from KAMEO? I suppose this is a bug?

heh yeah, but how do you cheat by changing countries? how does it affect your gamerscore? I know far too little about how this cheating business works

Downloading a saved game from another country, restoring gamertags on multiple xboxes so multiple players can get achievements as one gamertag...

No. 24 of the achievements are worth 0 points each. All you need to do to 1000 the game is co-op the bosses, get all the elemental warriors, a-rank every level, and finish the game. All the rest of the achievements are strictly to challenge you and aren't worth anything.

Likely that multiple people are playing on that account, don't know if that constitutes cheating though.

Edit: nevermind!

Sorry no remorse for cheaters. Microsoft is doing the right thing.

More often than people tell the truth about this sort of thing... yeah.

"I was banned from live for having a chipped console, but I never used copied games, honest."

Thats not a good example at all. It's the chipped console that gets them banned, not the fact that they use copied games. A chipped console with original games is still enough to get banned. MS can't see what kind of disc you have in your xbox, just that it's chipped.
