^ I felt the same way when I listened to their breakdown of the trailer, they said some really silly stuff that (kind of) irritated me, may be me being pedantic also though
I hope the characters, plot, and ending are not as terrible as Xenoblade Chronicles's.
The game was one cliché after another.
"Cliché," when in earnest, and "well written" are mutually exclusive.I will agree that Xenoblade was cliché to a certain degree, but that's where the parallel in our views ends. Neither its characters, plot, or ending were terrible, and while certainly cliché, they were well-written and executed cliché (for the most part, anyway), so I wouldn't mind them going that route again.

Great writers do not lean on clichés. They use them for irony, for parody, for comedic effect.
Xenoblade Chronicles was a game with no irony or parody, built on clichés because the writers seemingly could not create anything better.

Looks like two huge ass mechs to me. A crab like thing in the front and a tall one standing behind it.Two things:
1) There's positively nothing biological about this thing- it's entirely mechanical.
2) As big or bigger than the lava monster thing? It should be apparent to anyone with working eyesight that this thing's larger by magnitudes.
I dunno, am I being pedantic here?

The game is being directed by Tetsuya Takahashi, who is drawing on his experience from Wii exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles to create the biggest possible world on Wii U.

C'mon now; there's no need for this.

They said they wanted to create a "Shonen" story for Xenoblade. It was going to be cliche to an extent. We'll see how X's turns out, but Xenoblade's story is far, FAR from terrible.
GameXplain said:However, there's something strange during this sequence, and it comes in the form of a system log. Even though the contents are in Japanese, we had it translated by one of our Japanese-speaking friends, and it states that the player acquired some new kind of gun.
Might look like that at first, but doesn't make sense looking at this in motion. The humanoid mech doesn't move with the crab like mech, and seems to stand several hundred meters behind it:Looks like a single mech to me, with a crab-like lower-body and humanoid upper-body.

lol couldn't disagree more. Xenoblade had the most enjoyable story I have seen in a game in years. Loved the mysteries and the revelations. Also, I didn't see a lot of cliches during the final acts either. Seemed pretty fresh and original. Maybe some aspects reminded me of sci- fi I have seen over the years, but I can't see that as a bad thing. I swear, so many people on the net are hunting for cliches and tropes to the point where they can't even enjoy fun stories anymore. Not saying you don't have the right to hate it though, but for me it was one of the freshest JRPG stories in years.
Maybe I am being ignorant of tropes and cliches and just go along with the ride to have fun. I do the same with most things I watch and play too.

That could be misleading, and the humanoid mech might stand on higher ground. It doesn't seem to move with the crab mech either way, which makes it rather unlikely the two are connected. And no matter what, if you look at the scene in motion, the humanoid mech seems to several hundred meters further in the distance. Which also means it should be several hundred meters tall, or the size of a large skyscraper - but that's an entirely different issue. For a few brief moments, we can see what's underneath and behind the crab mech, and there are no signs of feet for the humanoid portion. I imagine the reason why it might look like it's behind the crab mech is that its torso seems seems to be placed at the rear end of the crab mech's body.

Question about that gif, is it CG?
None of the trailers had any CG that I recall.Question about that gif, is it CG?

it's a cut-seen, that's for sure. probably in-engine, not cg.

No CG; it's become a Monolith Soft trademark since being under Nintendo it seems; a good decision, I say.
I fully expect Nintendo of America to do the same bullshit again and deny us this game, leaving us waiting 3 years for XSEED to do their job for them.
Or worse yet, no localization at all.
Yeah I know this is grim, but Nintendo's track record last gen for more serious 1st party games outside Japan has been pretty shit.
Nintendo already announced this and smt X fe being localized and coming to NA. Get from under that rockI fully expect Nintendo of America to do the same bullshit again and deny us this game, leaving us waiting 3 years for XSEED to do their job for them.

I don't think that will happen again. Xenoblade did well out here and its already been confirmed to come over. NoA can't afford to keep games from coming over anyways, Wii U needs all it can get.I fully expect Nintendo of America to do the same bullshit again and deny us this game, leaving us waiting 3 years for XSEED to do their job for them.

I actually expect the opposite from NoA this time. I see them actually pushing this game (they need all the games they can get anyway).

In all fairness, Xenoblade was just as announced as X is.

No it wasn't. X has actually been talked about in Nintendo Directs. Xenoblade's premiere trailer was hidden away on Nintendo's E3 press sever. It's completely different.
You mean 2014. Not to note thisThey've shown it during two North American Nintendo Directs and confirmed it for a 2013 release and it even has it's own page on their e3 site.

Plus they really need the games. Even of they do try this crap again it'll be a lot harder to get away with it this time.
It's so obviously coming to North America and Europe. It was shown in all three of the E3 NDs. Also, ShockingAlberto mentioned that X is being localised simultaneously alongside its development so I'd like to expect a world-wide release.

Yeah I know. The thing I also wanted to say is that NoA will actually try to market this game this time rather than toss it as a GameStop exclusive and keep the number of copies low. Hopefully.
