Best-looking game of the Nintendo Direct for sure. Curious to see more about how the game actually plays; have they directly mentioned a multiplayer component? The "Player 1" stuff visible on the HUD seems like a pretty good indication. Unless it's just placeholder text for mystery character names.
Maybe so. It'd be a little weird, but knowing Monolith, who really knows?

This game is seriously making the Wii U purchase more attractive. Just needs a price drop as I do need to buy a PS4 and SSB4 is still a whiles away.

2014 is to far away. I need to this game more and more every time I see it. Nintendo do not make us wait for this game. World wide release is needed. DO NOT repeat what you did with Xeonblade.

Looks like Alice Cooper.

Hnnng, those gifs of the trailer. That mix of Xenoblade and throw in even more Xeno-mecha returning that look that good. I'm READY!

Someone asked Soraya Saga about the song on twitter and this was her response.

"That's newly written for X, as yet unreleased."

I can't wait to hear this after hearing some of his recent soundtracks like for Unicorn. Some huge expectations for Sawano.

The music by itself has made to replay dat trailer at least 20 times. When I thought they couldn't they actually managed to make an even more exciting trailer. My most anticipated title right now! Call me HYPED.

I do really like the music.

reminds me of "Confrontation with the Enemy" in Xenoblade. Hopefully it's used equally as well.

This so much. I thought the music was incredible. Man this makes me excited for this game.

Nobody in the media ever mentions this game when they talk about wanting new experiences and franchises from Nintendo :/

Even Reggie didn't mention this game with his interview with Geoff.

Now that I think about it...this is everything the Star Ocean games should've been in terms of concept and world design.

Any chance of getting a 1080p version of the E-shop trailer (Since the E-shop versions are visually better than youtube).

Last time Tilmen was the one who made that available but he's been banned.

Ok this looks almost, if not, next gen. If all developers put this much work into their Wii U games, the Wii U will be just fine.

Looks more impressive, graphically, than Titanfall IMO

Looks more stunning then the last time we saw it,the scope is incredible :D Monolithsoft the JRPG developer we deserve.

Only negative thing is the music in the trailer was Jpop rubbish.

Sawano sucks. I want Mitsuda ACE+ back. :(

The best tracks in xenoblade where made by ACE+.

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but... have we got confirmation about the focus of this game? By focus I mean singleplayer like Xenoblade with added multiplayer or maybe like Monster Hunter, a game that for all intent and purposes is a multiplayer game?

My guess is that while this will take place in the same world as Xenoblade, it won't be called Xenoblade 2 in the West. Maybe they slap Chronicles on the end of whatever title they put.

If the Wii U drops to a sane price level by the time this comes out in English I'm totally in. If it doesn't... I will probably still get one...
This is pretty much the only game that interests me in the system though.

I'll def be getting a Wii U once the price drops and X and Bayo 2 are available.

EDIT: wow, so I can actually post. Hi guys!

straight from looneyville, lol

Seriously though, if you want to believe AC4 on ps3 looks better than this, by all means, praise that game in the appointed topic. No need to troll this one and try to convince people who actually still have their vision.

damn that looks so good

It's so glorious. I want it all over my face. Xenoblade was my most played single player game of the last generation. It was an exhaustively fun and memorable experience with a thoroughly satisfying amount of exploration.

I'm gonna go watch the new E3 X trailer again.

This game is damn awesome looking. I've been waiting for a good RPG to jump into and I can't wait for this one. Not sure how many times I've watched the trailer, but it's good stuff.

I'm not that certain about that at all. The only similarities we've seen between this and Xenoblade in terms of world concept are the same similarities we see with Xenogears and Xenosaga - high tech cities, normal cities, giant robots, weird biomonsters.

The Japanese Nintendo site still clearly lists the game as "Brand New Title from Monolithsoft" so they're probably still deciding on the title. Iwata also specifically says the team is taking the experience they learned from Xenoblade and applying it to this new game. It's clear Nintendo is keen to make the connection that this is the successor to Xenoblade on the WiiU, but if the story is connected I think they would just come out and say it. Feels more likely that Monolithsoft wants to make a brand new world, and Nintendo wants to make sure people know it's going to be "like Xenoblade".

The similarities aren't quite as simple as you're making them out to be. Have a look at my post above to see a list of examples that show more than just a passing reference to Xenoblade.

Edit: here.

Some key points that tie this into being a Xenoblade sequel:

- The item orbs are back. Can be seen in a couple of scenes, and one gets picked up.
- The battle system is relatively the same as in Xenoblade, as shown in the last trailer. Auras are still around, as is the art system and action icon.
- Look at the flowing lights running around the mechs. Remind you of anything? Yeah, Mechon and Faces. Exactly the same.
- The shulk lookalike in the first trailer.
- The ending of Xenoblade - go out and find new worlds. They do that. Their ship crashes (the monolithsoft promo art is obviously this, going by the two moons). They build a civilization.

Those are my thoughts anyway, feel free to discuss.

I have a feeling they haven't announced the title yet because they want Xenoblade 2 to be a big reveal in terms of the name.

A post from the previous thread:

I've been obsessing over this game for a while, and at this point, I'm certain this has nothing to do with Xenoblade (aside from being its spiritual successor). The more I watch the trailer, the more I'm convinced that one of the basic premises of the game is that humans have crash-landed or have come to explore and possibly terraform a primitive alien planet.

I've organised my thoughts and evidence presented in the trailer into a (hopefully) tangible analysis below.

Firstly, let's take a look at the gargantuan grey structure that we see throughout the trailer. I've seen many people refer to it as a wall protecting a human colony, with the various protuberances atop it referred to as sentry guns or turrets.

But upon closer examination, they appear to be cranes and pulley systems. I believe this structure to be the ship - a crash-landed ship, to be precise - upon which the humans came, and the cranes and pulleys are used to salvage debris and whatnot.

To edify further, take a look at this screenshot and note the terrain around the ship. There's a clear deformation there indicating something cratered into it.

The second intimation comes from the trailer piece- rather, the first section (spans about twenty-eight seconds before abruptly ending and giving way to the bombastic choir segment). The atmosphere, I feel, that they're trying to convey with that music is one of exploration of uncharted territory (within the context of my theory, a foreign planet). Similar arrangements have been used in various sci-fi and adventure movies, unfortunately, however, nothing specific is coming to mind at the moment.

Another element that lends credence to my speculation is the stark technological contrast being displayed throughout the trailer. We see a myriad of high-tech machinery and weaponry, but nowhere can be seen even the most faintest glimmers of human civilization- no roads, guideposts, or anything indicative of the existence of intelligent beings. Of course, I realize we've only seen one area of the game, and it's subject to change, but this lends more to the "humans exploring foreign planet" portion of my theory.

And finally, the biggest piece of supporting evidence is the concept art of a crashed-landed UFO Monolith released way back when.

Might the scenery in that image have served as the basis for the game?

Pointing it out for the new page:

We can see the two moons in that shot that we can see in the recruitment ad pic. Seeing all that I've seen so far, I'm absolutely positive that this is totally unrelated to Xenoblade, and convinced the plot of the game involves humans crash-landing on or coming to terraform an alien planet.

So it looks like the murmurings of another story centric game from Takahashi ended up in another gameplay first directive from Nintendo. Perhaps even an MMO.

Half your examples are gameplay related, and have nothing to do with the story/world stuff. No one is disputing that this is the successor to Xenoblade, the question is about whether it is indeed set in the same world. If you're familiar with Monolithsoft and Tetsuya Takahashi, you'll know that carrying similar themes, visual motifs, or even character designs across one game to the next is not unusual, even if they're completely unconnected in terms of actual story or IP. It's something he likes to do.
