I'm sure it's asked every single time it's on sale, but I'll ask anyways. Deus Ex Director's Cut worth getting if you've played the original?
It's a better way to replay the game so if you're going to set aside 12-18 hours to do so I think it's definitely worth the $7.50.
Boss fights are vastly improved. Still not great but any improvement is thankful... I mean, they're not any more non-linear per se, it's just now you have two main sort of linear options... the shoot-the-strawman one remains or now there's generally one where you hack something to get robots/gas/etc to shoot the strawman. Which are still rather straightforward and linear... the first boss fight actually has a bit of freedom to it but the others are super linear in terms of what you hack, what you use to kill the boss, etc. They're still a big improvement and actually feel sort of Deus Ex esque whereas the meatbag bullet sponges did not.
Small improvements like the DLC content being integrated into the game... namely, the silenced sniper rifle and break-action shotgun in the first warehouse mission. Also, there's a grenade launcher you can get from Tong after the DLC Tracer Tong mission,
Lastly, the main DLC story gets integrated into the main story.... it's probably pretty great for a person who is replaying DXHR just because it gives you lots of new stuff to do. It's actually sort of jarring in pacing and length, and could hurt the experience for new players.
It helps explain between the Hengsha port and Omega Ranch Labs, and especially gives far more context to Panchaea and the game's final boss.
But it's length and pacing is like 4-8 hour DLC which fits rather poorly. Were it an original part of the game, which would have been welcomed IMO, it probably should have been 1-2 hours.
It's a fun area though when you're replaying the game... the Tanker part actually kinda reminds me of MGS for some reason, and the base itself looks pretty cool. In general I love the Belltower private security or corporate espionage stuff in DXHR though, so I liked reading all the new stories, the base art, etc.
Plus the gold Belltower revolver you get at the end is pretty cool haha dunno why but I always thought the DXHR revolver looked and felt like one of the best FPS handguns in recent years (DXHR's guns in general look pretty awesome and both handguns feel great). But that's pretty subjective.
