Just grabbed Super Mario 3D Land today. Game is so good. Really wish i'd played it before the voting. Would have been in my list for sure. I expect to say the same thing about Rayman Origins too.

Oh, and Portal 2 as well.

AAAND because it's not like it's been beaten to death or anything...

I know we're probably tired of this by now, but fuck you I'm gonna post my list anyways.

*shrug* I've heard of a few of those people. My list had a lot of genre and platform variety so it's hard to find a close match I guess.

I proudly present the user affinity list - hipster nerd edition.

Basically, when aggregating it weighs games with the inverse of the square root of the number of mentions the game received. This results in weights like 0.035 for Portal 2, 0.13 for Dead Island and 0.5 for Hyperdimension Neptunia. (I just love making shit up like this)

Personally I find the results of this version more useful, but YMMV.
Excellent. This is a good list of people who, for the most part, played Anno 2070 :D.

The hipster version of my similarity sheet just becomes everyone that mentioned either You Don't Know Jack or Magic 2012. AKA the best people.

Here's the user affinity list.
Like last year, find your entry by searching for "$$[yourUserName]" (without the []).

This one uses the exact same algorithm as last year. I'm not that happy with the results for me personally, so I'll try to implement another one that weighs games that are rarely mentioned higher. (The idea is that popular games are likely to appear on lots of lists anyway, so the less popular ones are more significant in determining user affinity. Sounds flimsy but it's just for fun)

While I adjusted the script I noticed that for these users: RurouniZel, LuchaShaq, GABDEG, b.mak
the 2010 vote wasn't picked up correctly (formatting issues).

Pretty awesome, would be awesomer if that wasn't made with 50 posts per page in mind. :p

I'm on like one dude's list :p

Bros fo life

Hipsters:

Eeexcellent. Although, this basically seems to be the list of people who listed NMH at all, or Saint's Row and Dark Souls high.

Edit: Upon closer inspection, these are really interesting as I'm grouped with folks who also listed games in their top 10 that I wouldn't have even considered for various reasons. WickedLaharl is my top match and lists 4 games I didn't really care for.

How are Gears 3 and Uncharted 3 in separate categories? Shooter game of the year? As in all shooters or just 3rd person? Why is a category predicated on where the camera is placed rather than actual genre?

So strange.

I was hoping the affinity lists would turn me on to some new games, but they really didn't.

Games on my regular affinity list Top 10s that I haven't played and am intrigued by:
Ghost Trick <-- Already planned to play it, haven't bought it
Frozen Synapse <-- Already bought it
Driver: San Francisco <-- This was not on my radar until the recent burst of good reception and warm praise. Will buy for $5.
L.A. Noire <-- Already bought it
Kirby's Return to Dreamland <-- Already bought it
Radiant Historia <-- Price checked this list night because a few cool people had it on their lists, but it's out of print out of stock everywhere and $70+ on the secondary market. The single most expensive DS game ever released, hahaha.
Catherine <-- Already bought it
Corpse Party <-- Already planned to buy
TitS <-- Already planned to buy
Where is my Heart <-- Finally, a game I haven't heard of that I'd like to try.

I think Infinite Space would give it some competition. $137.95 from Buy.com.

(but $24.95 if you find a used copy lingering in a GameStop, like I did a couple days ago)

When Uroboros is released, I'll build a new world with the following individuals:

Does this list take in account honorable mentions?

EDIT:

82. [360][PS3] Hard Corps: Uprising (Konami, Shooter) = 27 points, 2 honorable mentions

Hey... it broke top 100. woo hoo.

You know, for all the complaints about MK beating out UMvC 3, I still haven't heard a great argument for why its so obviously better. I know it's because the multiplayer is better according to them but I personally enjoyed MKs multiplayer far more.
I would say UMVC3 feels better, I played Mortal Kombat and did all the challenge towers, all the story mode and played online some and to this day I just don't enjoy playing MK9.

I think the fighting system is missing something and I really don't like the Combo Breaker. I love how UMVC3 plays, the craziness, the sometimes randomness of it as well. I know I won't be one to explain this with any degree of accuracy.

Also I am dissapointed that Deus Ex lost out to Dark Souls by 9 points in the recount but at least Deus Ex is high up in the top 10.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Deus Ex robbed. Shame, gaf!

Not surprised at the similarity score, I didn't pick anything out of the ordinary this year. Especially compared to having Deadly Premonition as #2 last year.

thank god someone around here has some class

i made a santorum joke and it fell flat

You were competing with Durante's User Affinity Machine for mind-share, don't be too hard on yourself

This is a game I was interested in buying since launch but I put off buying it and until recently I was in the same boat as you. I checked Gamestop online and found a store a few hours away with a new copy for $30. Not exactly ideal (especially if you don't like Gamestop) but it might be worth a shot if you are really interested in snagging a copy before they completely disappear.

because that's a list of games I liked or planned to play, I'm also interested in Where is my Heart. Will probably be the first Mini game I play, eventually.
