Why do cops have a hard-on for the military if we aren't a very militarized society? I think you've just proved my point.

That's not why the police is militarised. This has been covered in another thread, basically military weapon companies want this from the Congress and any bill to avoid police getting military style equipment/weapons is stonewalled: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=875594

But you also need a military-obsessed congress and huge military lobby to pass that that kind of law, and a police force that wants those things as well. Seems like it still doesn't contradict what I'm saying.

As long as the cops feel threatened by ordinary people they will continue to be militarized. It's unfortunate that so many people don't realize this.
