Goodell is such a piece of shit.
This might be one of the reasons why...
NEW YORK (AP)—Seniority counts when it comes to commissioners.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reached a labor agreement with players during the summer that ended a four-month lockout.

NBA Commissioner David Stern is in the midst of his own lockout, which started July 1.

Don’t expect Goodell to make any recommendations.

“I talked to David yesterday. I don’t give him any advice,” Goodell said Tuesday at a news conference to unveil the host committee’s logo for the 2014 Super Bowl in New York and New Jersey. “He’s the dean. He gives us advice.”
David Stern pushes the globalization of sports more than anyone else.

I'm not a fan of the London games.
I think it's a terrible idea.
the UK doesn't give a shit about american football much to begin with.

I wouldn't go that far, I know a lot of people over here who enjoy NFL, the popularity is definitely growing.

EDIT: Though I do like the idea of the Wembley game and hope to go some year, I don't think adding anymore Is a good idea, it'd be like us having Premier League games in the US. It's not cool us stealing it away from actual fans.

Great news Eagles fans, Tapp is back at practice this week, and expects to play Sunday!!!

Great news he is coming back. Glad to see Vick is okay too. I really hope we win this week and get back to 500.

My favorite part of this play isn't Jacobs, this was a concern for me and he did a very good job Sunday, Beatty played great didn't hear Trent Cole name called a lot.

There biggest problem the last few weeks has been the D wearing down so badly in the 4th. Having Tapp back in the rotation will help them so much. I think the D is going to have a great game this week, and the O will finally stop shooting themselves in the foot so much. It should be a nice easy win. I really want to see them blitz small hands though, I hate how the D leaves all the pressure up to the D-line every play. Foku and Matthews cant cover anyone, so at least they could try and rush the QB with them. I heard yesterday that Matthews is going to split time at practice with Rolle. I hope Rolle winds up taking his spot, no way could he be worse then Casey.

If the Bucs aren't going to sellout, might as well play a couple games where they will.

I think I've read before that the NFL could probably do okay with teams in Germany and England. Travel could be minimized by having those teams make extended road trips stateside, and visiting teams traveling before/after their bye.

What's the word on Maclin?

There was an interesting stat about how little Cutler was sacked in Denver and how often he was sacked in Chicago in TMQ which leads me to believe that Chicago truly has the worst offensive line in football (a title many of us claim for our teams but in this case it looks like Chicago is actually worthy of).

Speaking of shitty offensive lines...

Houston fans how is the Texans pass rush this year? Are Smith and Williams capable of dominating and overwhelming our shitty line for an entire game?

Is that supposed to be a penalty lol

And this page got weird yet interesting lol

Yeah it's called tripping, you never tackle a player at his legs that was kinda dirty IMO, look at how Ware ankle kinda bends, he very lucky he wasn't hurt..

Finally pulled the trigger on DirecTV and it's like I've crossed it off my bucket list at the expense of a godawful dish and a vengeful wife (only reception spot is by the garage, visible from curb).

NFL Game Replay is amazing! Do you guys watch that all week? Must say there was a tinge of dread catching up with a game you know your team lost.

Anyway, I wanted to ask - are there any other decent shows? Seems to be plenty of cheap filler list shows and The Huddle looks torturous. I DVR'd NFLTA thinking that was the Rich Eisen show but it was basically an ESPN news and gossip show (and Kara Henderson - not sure if want).

Normally we give the refs the benefit of the doubt on holding and other offensive line schenanigans because it is hard to see what is happening between the tackles, but it is amazing that such an obvious penalty that was totally out in the open (and right next to a scrambling qb) wasn't called.

Not questioning it as I didn't watch that part. I thought you were looking for something else. Any back shots are not cool unless it's a QB sack ><

Actually once you pit it that way, it sounds awesome - I'd love to go to a Prem League game :p

Maybe they were mesmerized by the adept pocket awareness of Rex and just watched him?

But seriously, you would think a player of Ware's caliber and status in the league would get that flag every single time. But there is the small luck factor in football in full effect.

Texans pass rush in the Saints game was decent, but they didn't get to Brees very much.
They do well enough to actually make the QB move a little, but they can be exploited.

Really, Giants need to run this at least 3 times a game, it's such a money play with their personnel. I love the fact people are clamoring for Da'Rell Scott in the comments. When are the Giants going to unleash him?

Scott is probably fastest RB we have on the roster, but could get Eli killed when he has to pick up a blitz, he needs to learn the playbook and learn defenses, kid will be learning until an injury has the coaches calling his name...

Martz gets his QBs sacked b/c he doesn't believe in max protect and his offense runs long developing routes. Remember, he destroyed Marc Bulger with that awful philosophy. Not that the line isn't also terrible.

I'd put the Rams, Falcons, and Bears in the God Tier of shitty offensive lines. Steelers may soon join with those recent injuries.

Steelers are in that God tier. I think we have averaged something insane like 2-3 sacks a game for the last 2 years. One reason it doesn't get as much attention is because Ben is a tank and doesn't get injured despite the abuse.

It is a shame too because we have so much talent on offense that is being held back by our garbage offensive line.

Day to day. Rob Ellis was saying yesterday he thinks he wont practice today as a precatuion but he should play Sunday. I really hope he does, him and Vick seem to be the in synch of the WRs so far. I am really worried that DJax has a nagging injury, I made a point to watch him last week, and he didnt seem to be going anywhere near as fast as normal.

So, can someone give an honest description of the Texans' defense? They seem improved but I haven't seen one game from them this year.

Dont throw at Kareem Jackson. He is a ballhawk and covers his receiver like a damn glove.

Our offensive line is usually serviceable, but the problem is that the line is rarely not completely decimated by injury.

It seems Pitts line has been below average for a few years for pass protection, but Ben knows how to avoid a sack. As a Ravens fan, I've seen him shake off two dudes then throw thirty yards to Heath Miller a bunch of time. Although we seemed to have righted that week one. If Cutler was back there, he'd be getting sacked six times a game.

I sense some sarcasm and hopefully he is the one assigned to cover M. Wallace. :D

Ben sometimes makes the line look bad by holding onto the ball waiting for the big play and sometimes makes it look great by extending a play and embarassing a defender who can't bring him down.

Example of said embarrassment when Suggs was not strong enough to bring down Ben. :D

Btw, nice to see a new Ravens fan on the board. Sucks that you guys finally found a way to beat us. It was so nice how lopsided the rivalry had become in the last few years. And almost all of the wins were last second too...

Wha.....what are you talking about? *looks around nervously* I don't remember anything like that.

99 yards game winning drive with AFC North on line ending with Holmes did he or didn't he cross the goal line
Flacco TAINT in playoffs
Brown's miracle on 3rd and forever

Update from Giants practice:

Per Garafolo:

DE Osi Umenyiora WILL practice today, Coughlin says. #nyg

Patricia_Traina Patricia Traina
Amukamara apparently is still a bit away from returning to the practice field per TC.
They note that Prince may start doing limited practices next week. He just started cutting on the previously broken foot. I'd expect him back Week 6.

NYPost_Schwartz Paul Schwartz
Coughlin said Tuck is improving but he won't practice today. #nyg
Tuck has the neck stinger and a groin injury. Tuck is saying there's no way he doesn't play and is being held out of practice to make sure he is "fresh" for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

NYPost_Schwartz Paul Schwartz
WR Mario Manningham (concussion) has been given medical clearance to practice today on a limited basis. #nyg
It would be a surprise if Mario doesn't go Sunday.

Not too sure about the injury theory with DJAX. I think its simply because teams are very intent on not letting him get deep and beat them with the big play so he is getting a lot of attention plus they are keeping safeties deep. Maclin is simply the better WR in the shorter to mid range game and DJAX gets bottled up.

Its up to the coaches now to spring him loose. If they aren't allowing him to go deep then they need to a find a way to get him the ball in space quickly so he can make a play.

Mario gets a lot of bad rep saying he doesnt show up on the stat sheet but if you look at the details of the games he gets a lot of pressures and can abuse an OT. Barwin comes from the other side and is only in his second year, most of last year on IR. Has some limited moves but is improving. Same as rokkie Brookes Reed on relief.

JJ watt has been pretty damn impressive so far in preseason and in the first couple games. Big guy who takes up space and draw pressure away from Mario. Basically its a pick your poison propsition with those two. Antonio Smith has a decisive mean streak in him and can get to the QB. JJ Watt also has a knack for putting his hands up and swatting down passes.

Our starting NT Cody is considered undersized for a 3-4 defense. The Dolphins exposed that but they improved against the Saints. Remove Sproles 30 yd run and they held them to 70 yards rushing.

Demeco is still getting in "player shape" and looks timid and not assertive at times. Cushing is showing signs of returning to his DROY season. He has lightened up and has good movement to cover in space. Would like to see him sent after the QB more.

Overall its what you get with a bunch of new players, learning an entirely new defensive system and scheme in a 4 week traing camp and into their 4th game. The defense makes mistakes that in a couple more weeks I dont see them making nearly as much.

Small NT huh?

Hopefully we can expose that mismatch with Pouncey and get some consistent yards up the middle. Might be the thing we need to slow down the pass rush and open some passing on the play action.

Otherwise it seems to me that the Texans have enough talent to overwhelm our line on the edges if we get behind early and are forced to pass all the time.
