Died on the very first guard, I'm so good.
Same here.

But ended beating the first boss on the first try and only dying on a Yokai fight where I let him get his fully combo on - wiped me out super quick.

Sometimes you need to die once in a game in the early going to properly calibrate your mindset.

Was this game massively undershipped or something? Amazon cancelled my preorder, so I went hunting around Seattle area today thinking it'd be easy to pick up and it was sold out at Gamestop, Target, Toysrus and Best Buy. I gave up after that.

We are a huge niche.

Didn't even realize that there was a weapon and a pair of boots in the room down the hallway. Ha ha.

I gave up for the night. Shes infuriating. I think Im just gonna concede and co-op her tomorrow.

I took a break after failing miserably over and over. Came back, and I found myself doing way better than before. Only took a couple of tries to finally win. I think a break should help.

-sold out on Amazon
-on Amazon best seller list near the top
-can't find it in any best buy stores
-top 5 on twitch
-top game played on live with playstation

I think this game is going to do very well. Way above what sony and kt probably thought it was going to do.

So happy. This game is fucking addicting.

Only problem is the story. It is bare bones and incoherent. It is incredibly throwaway.

Hopefully they can do something about that with Nioh 2.

It is hilarious coming across the odd incredibly atmospheric / poignant moment and being like, "Ahyep, that's lifted straight from the Kurosawa script for sure."

Walking up the shrine steps as the figure walks down them, cutting between William and Hanzo's pov (guardian spirit visible/invisible) is classic Kurosawa, down to the fluidity of the edits.

I tried her for the first time yesterday, did read a bit about her here so I knew I have to have some paralysis defence. Died after I got her down to about over half of her life. Then I was reckless and her umbrella dance killed me. Downed her in my third try, thought she was not to hard if you follow the tips from here and be cautious.

Dodge after you hear her scream

Use the paralysis accessorie you find just before the boss in the chest behind the two yokais (big one eyed guy and normal big guy)
There is also a Kodama there
you can also use the archer set that is dropping in this area as this one also has paralysis defence

After she came flying to you, evade this with one or two dodges backwards, get up to her and take 2-3 strikes and get away again, rinse and repeat.

Cost me only a few minutes and about 3 elixirs for the times I was again a bit reckless.

Hope you get to kill her sooner or later!

What? I legitimately have the ship level as one of my favourite levels of all time, its absolutely amazing. up there with dishonored in terms of level designs, but thats my opinion.

what levels were bad to you?

To compare NiOh's level "complexity" to that of Dark Souls and Dishonored of all games, is frankly ridiculous.

The levels are nice and tightly designed, but they have NOWHERE near the complexity and interconnectiveness that Dark Souls 1-3 have (ok maybe barring 2, but still). And especially in comparison to the open-endedness of Dishonored.

My heart is pounding, a game hasn't done that in a while. Just fought the
boat boss
and beat him with no elixir left and about 15% health. This was my first try at him so I'm pretty pumped about that.

ROFL

When you and a co-op summon finish a mission and start pretend PvP'ing for like 10 minutes before finally ending the mission.

I don't PvP in Souls games but I might give it a shot when it hits Nioh.

Would lightning resistance be a good idea against U
mibozu's beam?
It's the one thing that has killed me and it's really annoying that it's a OHKO attack.

Aha, I'd actually describe the game as Dark Souls 2 with better mechanics, but worse visuals as is. Especially relevant comparison in terms of boss quantity > quality, generous shrines, over-reliance on waist-high walls for level design, etc.

EDIT: Should clarify I think Dark Souls 2 is a pretty good game.

I would compare it more to Demon's Souls than any other in terms of level structure and itemization.

Aha, dunno. Demon's Souls is so stupendously creative, and this hasn't approached that level for me yet (though I'm only in region 4, which I think is ~50%?).

"Hi, this is from PlayE Funzcentre ***** outlet, Ps4 NIOH is available in store now at $76.90, please reply date of collection if you unable to make a collection today. Thanks."

Let's fucking do this!

*proceed to wait 3 hours for clock off time...*

Just finished the tutorial. Is it possible to hide the equipped hamlet/headgear? I'd like to be able to see Williams face.

Can anyone help identify what some of the set bonuses do? What's "Tactician's Ingenuity," for example?

Hit L2 until you get to the set page. Unless that's a subheading there, in which case I can't help you >.<

Yep, it's somewhere in the options menu. Especially worthwhile when you get the Wach-whatever haircut that looks badass AF.

Found it under basic game settings. Thanks!

I played for way too long last night. I kept thinking only one mission more and I was up till 2:30 AM. Way too addictive and I love the sub missions challenges and openess for exploration for more loot.

You can read on it when you press R2 (or L2?) on the item selected.

Press L2 on the equipment screen.

Thanks, everyone!

Pre-ordered the night before, they haven't shipped it but have yet to cancel it.

Am I screwed? lol
