Nioh |OT| Stamina is Ki

Thinking of buying this. Absolutely loved Bloodborne - favorite game on PS4. Didn't enjoy the other Souls games as much because they were too slow for me. Will this be more up my alley? I haven't tried any of the betas. Giant Bomb was mentioning that you have high, mid, and low stance attacks and combinations and, to me, that sounds really difficult to cycle between. That could be a lot of permutations or is it easier than I am thinking?
Faster and better combat than any Souls or Bloodborne.

This is coming from a huge Souls fan.

Go for it. I still think Bloodborne is the better game for the whole package but Nioh has deeper combat and it's more fast paced.

Btw, when I'm gonna unlock the slow and Ki Omnyo magic?

How do I use this skill effectively?

As soon as I finish the animation the stun effect is over.

The skill can't be complete trash. The game is too good (I hope). Anyone found an effective way to use this skill? I'm kind of regretting the purchase right now.

Third boss down, first try. Child's play compared to the second imo.

I'm sad that he doesn't drop
Lightning Katana
anymore.

All. A bunch of "core" skills show up on each Skill Tree, but actually unlock across all five weapons when you buy it anywhere. This really isn't well-portrayed visually on how the trees are laid out.

It's in the sword section for sure but I think it's in others as well. You have to buy a separate skill for each stance and each one has a skill you need to buy first.

Thanks, just bought it for the spear.

Also it's very shallow but what pushed me over getting this was the presence of a barber.

Can you unlock more styles or it's just 4 ?

Edit :

I remember trying out the very first BETA. I'm assuming they changed a lot since that ?

The game has a PS4pro mode right ?

Don't joke.

I mean, idiots on this very forum made me buy Dragon Age Inquisition.

I never learn.

Oh dear ;(

I made that same mistake because I liked the original a bit.

Nah I played the beta for this game as the first thing when I got my PS4. My Xbox seems so lifeless now...

This skill devours enemy Ki, especially when they're blocking, so use it with that in mind.

...I actually enjoyed Inquisition.

I guess after the 5540th mandatory fetch / grind quest you become desensitized to it !

I quit after the intro when I saw how much shit the game had in store for me.

Nope'd

Same with Witcher 3. Ain't nobody got time for that.

The combat in this game is on another level.

My first Souls game was Dark Souls 1 and then I went back to Demon's. I felt completely enraptured, enamored with what kind of challenge, precision and ambiance these games could set. I haven't felt that way about a game in a very long time...

And then Nioh. I'm going to agree in saying that I like the combat more than Souls. That in itself is crazy, even the hyper aggressive flow of Bloodborne doesn't feel the same.

How. I'm amazed by this team.

I agree with Nioh's combat being better but Souls' combat is pretty overrated imo. It's slow, lacks any real depth and has barely evolved since Demon's Souls.

Nioh oblierates it on its first attempt.

Incredibly useful for block spamming enemies. You can squeeze it in for ki drain whereas you may not be able to fit in a kick. Also good for packs of enemies. It has a nice aoe knockback effect and you can use it as a safe hit on any ki drained enemies you want to knock down

Can your bow theoretically have infinite ammo if you stack enough bonuses? And do your second firearm's unlimited ammo bonuses apply to the first one?

Are there any good strategies for
Nue
? I beat the fucker in the demo but can't seem to do it again. I breezed through the level because there are way less enemies present than there were in the Alpha. But I can't seem to take out the boss this time.

Okay, can anyone help with some suggestions for stat upgrades and skills to purchase? I restarted my game because I wanted to choose the starting stats over and I wasn't crazy about going spears first time around, so I've switched to swords.

1. What stats are good for a sword build? So far all I did was put points into Heart (up to 10) What other stats are good suggestions to compliment sword fighting?

2. Is there a really good secondary weapon option to compliment the sword? The other weapon I like is the kusarigama, but I'm not sure what stat to pump for that and I dunno if it compliments maining swords

3. Any suggestions on early sword skills to grab? Is Iai stuff worth it? How about parrying?

Anyone have any advice on this? And to add to it, any suggestions on quality Ninjutsu or magic skills to get for a sword fighter?

Only attack that should be hitting you is when he calls down lightning which does like, 4 shocks? You get two quick hits after he does it.

Outside of that, every attack he'll whiff if you stay out of range.

Or you could summon me ;)

Nah Souls games are amazing and the PVP was and is classic

I love me some Tom Brady but don't forget Johnny Unitas

I'm stuck in the
Ninja village, after i turned the room upside down i managed to go back to the shrine after the bridge, have no idea where to go next.

Tips anyone?

Depends on the weapon you're using. I beat him with Dual Swords by sticking to his left like glue and just pulverizing him whenever he reared his ugly mug. If you manage to get enough hits in while he's charging an attack he'll lose all of his ki and be extremely vulnerable for about 5 seconds.

And remember to use your Living Weapon.

I'm going in mostly blind.

I've seen some stream but honestly was not paying much attention so I don't remember a thing.

How does Coop work in this ? To be summoned and summon ?

Bait the lightning "breath" attack, dash in and attack the side of his head/face. This will drain his ki, allowing a few seconds to punish. Careful because if you stay in too long he will call down quick double lightning on your head and free you from this mortal coil.

Swords scale from Heart, Strength and Skill. So don't be afraid to throw a few points into strength and skill.

Apparently Sloth Omnyo Magic is cheese central, so you could spec into that if you'd like.

Thanks guys. I think I've just been afraid to get close to him because he has a tendency to go for that swipe combo. That kinda makes me nervous when trying to dodge.

Lol April 12th.

What did they expect this game to Bomba and then when it didn't they are now green lighting a strategy guide?

By April 12th what is it going to tell us that we don't already know?

That happens sometimes with these books. I think the Dark Souls III guide was delayed like that as well. At that point, I'll probably be so far along in the game that a guide wouldn't be necessary. Though FuturePress does put together really nice guides.

I'm playing on a regular PS4 and it's just fine. I chose Action mode because I'd rather have the 60fps than higher res, but I've played 4-5 hours now and have no issues. It plays great and looks pretty good.

I've been playing it on my standard PS4 (CUH-1215/CUH-1200) for two days now (in action mode).
It's really smooth and I haven't seen one single fps drop from 60 yet.

Thanks for the responses. I placed an order for a PS4 bundle that was on sale earlier before I went out for a couple of hours in case it got sold out before I got back. My main worry is the image quality on a PC monitor, but I guess that's a more specialised issue. It's good to hear about the performance though.

Just avoid everything until the mouth lazer thing, get in close and on his right side and hit his face. You can bait out the mouth lazer by standing kinda close in front of it. Oh and use water magic.
