Is there a use for those (region 3 first story mission)
6 pot shards you collect after beating the big spiders? Or do you just need them to get to the boss? I got them all before going to the boss so I don't know if they are required.

So I'm about to face the bat lady but I only have 5 elixirs after praying at a shrine (and finding all but maybe one of the kodama). In the first mission I would restock to 8 at each shrine. Is this the max amount I can restock to right now without getting the extra from ninjitsu?

So basically you get a free allotment of elixirs based on your Kodama in the area when you die. Otherwise you need to find them from enemies. You must have found more elixirs in the first mission and had them stockpiled, hence why you spawned with 8. However you must have used them up by the second mission, so you're just getting the free ones. 8 is the max, for now.

Dash being reduced from 8 to 5 doesn't seem like much.

Perhaps it's a percentage thing and I have something else affecting it.

Now that Im used to the game mechanics all the main bosses I've faced so far(im in the 4th region atm) are pretty easy vs the souls series. Since fighting the bat lady I usually only die 1-3 times at most now.

The sub mission bosses are actually more difficult than the main mission bosses imo.

Ah man. My bad. We were doing so well that time. I thought I was outside the laser but apparently I was too close.

Yo you got it, I got cock blocked by the random mob enemy because it shoots through the boss and is a load of bullshit, but I'm glad you got it done lol

(there's actually 3 things to light)

One little thing that I appreciate (watching streams etc, no time to play/buy it just yet) is how nice and pleasing the scrolling damage numbers seem compared to other games. The font and tempo, I can almost feel the enjoyment from dealing hurt with the controller.

Yea I know there's thee but I couldn't make it to the last one without any ammo. But yea I got it! Thanks so much. That boss is a pain haha.

I can't beat and I'm going on 10 tries, have summoned for the last 2...

I've tried high stance axe, high stance single sword, mid stance axe/sword, low stance sword...

I'm using the anti-paralysis pills and the weakness Onmyo magic.

Halp...

You can wear her down by poking with mid/lows. I default to running away from her until she picks an attack. I find dodging is too unreliable when she does the spinning move that drops a yokai realm. Her default combo has two versions, one ends with an overhead kick so you have to wait to see if that comes out before striking.

The must-dodge stuff will be after she begins her flying charge, when she begins yelling for the paralysis shot, and she can throw knives at you from the sky. Actuallly those knives are probably just fine to block if your ki is up.

It's +3 from your storehouse if you have any plus the +1 per 5 kodamas bonus.

So I planning to get this game sometime later in the year but I want to know something first;

Does the game let you pause the action in single player mode or is it like the soul series and actually prevents players from doing that even if they are playing single player off-line?

I was about to dodge out to safety because I knew that it does an AOE after the core is exposed, but I miscalculated my stamina and got hit by blob sword during the worst possible moment lol

(but then, I was semi gambling: given that I couldn't see it from behind the boss, I just assumed it was actually attacking you at some point and that it would be okay to go ham)

Can't pause. Might work if you go to the home screen?

It's level based though, so there is plenty of breaks between levels.

Yes, ihe in-game menu does not pause the game. I believe the only solution would be to shutdown in rest mode?

Okay quick question. So gear matters in this game? So I'd be able to power through if my gear is alright with some difficulty yeah? I was so garbage at the betas that I had to call in help to beat a levels boss.

If I can kinda grind things out I don't mind.

You can grind a lot but good evasion is always needed

Some special missions, like the Dojo, don't let you bring your stuff, but they're not needed to progress

Just cleared the water temple stage, I can see why Umi-bozu would be a hard fight but I can't see how it would be "OMG unfair broken bad design!" kind of hard.

I love that the side quests all feature the area with a slightly different layout/starting position (unless later ones drop the ball but I doubt it). Also like how they bothered to change the lighting as well.

Stats from levels and gear help more than in Souls games but taking damage will never become negligible.

I think I am in the last region... at least for me, all the bosses in Nioh are fair (until now)... there are WAY HARDER (or with a horrible design) bosses in the Souls series...

I'd have to agree. I'd normally have to summon but most of these bosses I've been able to beat by myself

Umi is pretty fun, best boss since Bat. Still not as hard as the first guy, but it was pretty cool seeing the form changes. Didn't realize til the end that the bonfires are free lights 😭
