Alright, any advice? I just beat
Nue
but afterwards instead of being pumped, I felt like I was cheesing him the whole time, running around in circles. Which let me to realize that I don't do a whole lot of L1 blocking in this game, and I'm also shit and hitting R1 after attacks when the ki glow appears.

I guess any victory is a victory, I just didnt know if there were things I could be doing better. Here's video of my run

I feel like I asked this before but didn't get a clear answer: how do you properly decide between equipment when the only stats that shows up/down arrows are multiplier and toughness? I constantly have a hard time keeping track of all the situation effects and how they truly impact my stats. I don't feel like the status screen shows the full picture either... Am I alone in this?

Buy the "Living Water" skill for low/mid/high stance, it gives you Ki pulse when you dodge in those stances. You don't have to worry about Ki pulsing now until you want to up your game with "Flux" later.

That's not cheesing. You did well for the most part.

You need to learn how to take out yokai realms with KI puls. You struggled with stamina because you kept them.

For the
Nue
fight:
is there any reason to knock him into the red?
Seems I could do it consistently but it doesn't really give a counterattack option like other enemies do.

Is it just an extra second of opening for attacks or what?

I could never get the hang of hitting R1 every time so the Ki Pulse while dodging skill is a godsend.

The way it's described made me think it allowed me to press to Ki pulse whilst dodging, not for it to do it automatically by dodging.

pretty much that.....work on your ki pulse and dash/dodge game. all of his attacks have tells so you don't have to fight him like that.

Yeah during the battles I completely forget about Ki Pulse. I need to work on that for sure

I had NO idea that was a thing. Damn.

Nue
is the easiest boss that I've done.
literally u just walk around until he does the beam/laser attack then run up and hit him on the side during it and he gets stunned so you can just combo him.

It's a very simple fight and very boring compared to every other boss I've done. I imagine anyone struggling just didnt find that out.

Sometimes(usually when he shoots laser from his mouth) his belly glows. If you hit it while it's glowing you instantly stagger him.

someone correct me if I'm wrong.

well i had it in spoilers but yea that ^^ lol

It's the easiest fight in the world once you realize how to stagger him. 0 skill required really

Going red means you can combo him into oblivion with chained attacks. Like, spamming Blade Spin would do devastating damage. Just remember to dash out when you're low on Ki.

.

when you get youkai in the red zone, your attacks would stagger them and they become less aggressive for a period, they don't really have an execute move like humans do

can confirm that it staggers him every time

I know I could do that but what does staggering do for this boss fight?
If anything it just gives it a counterattack with it's self targeted lightning strike.

Right. But I tried going on the offensive when it staggered but 2-3 swings in it just lightning strikes itself and I have to bail.

I'm posting this having already killed it, but I was wondering the entire time.

I was rewatching my video and noticed that it gave me enough time to get some hits in and roll away before I could be hit by the lightning

Like I said, it means you can use a flurry of attacks and it'll be stagger-locked until you're unable to continue attacking.

With a Kusarigama, you can take off a massive chunk of its health with Blade Spin. Other weapons have skills for that situation as well.

Man, still waiting for Amazon Germany to get restock of the game. Ordered 5 days ago.
It says "available soon"
Crazy how it's sold out almost everywhere.
Wish i had pre ordered, but i had to support Yakuza 0 first :)

Stopped for the night after I got this (mission level 70+)
big fucking frog boss
to like 10% health and then he ate me just as my Living Weapon ran out. Fak.

Normally I'd just go back and kill it, it was very easy but... I don't even know how I found it. It's going to take longer to find my way back than kill it.

it gives you a window to hit him several times and you can dodge right before he regains his ki and does that attack. its the same with most of the boss/enemy fights in the game.

At least they published this one in the west. They owned the Demon's Souls IP but didn't even bother publishing it here. They never place any faith in Japanese games not named Gran Turismo.

Why put money into these projects if they're not going to give them a chance at retail?

They even do it with their own IP too. Just look at the prices of Gravity Rush now that all retail stock has been totally exhausted. I just don't get it. It makes no sense why they would short change these games on their initial print runs. If they are so gunshy about releasing them in the west then they should let another publisher who will actually print enough copies to meet demand take the risk doing it. This kinda sort of release but really just super limited crap needs to stop.

Let's be fair, high population for a free demo isn't really a good indication especially when a good number of the response is still "This game is bullshit everything is cheap and unfair!" And "lol Souls clone!".

I wouldn't fault them for playing it safe.

Actually betas have been one of the strongest predictors for debut sales so far this gen. Just take a lok at the beta figures for Destiny, The DIvision, Battleborn, and Overwatch. They correlate incredibly well. As far as prerelease data sets they are some of the best currently available as a predictor for demand.

I'm new to the PS4 and I thought I was closing the game...

Haha! Sorry.. I just... that's a new one. Did they change the wording with the most recent UI overhaul or something. ALways seems like it was pretty clear about "delete" not close to me.

Sorry you have to redownload it. That sucks.

So you have to keep up the quick attacks, eh? Will have to try that out. ( I <3 the Kusarigama )
THAT makes more sense as 2 quick hits and gone doesn't seem like a reward for hitting a weak-point for the stagger.

It's not a difficult boss at least so I'm willing to go and test some things out on it. And it'sdefinitely not the first lightning chimera I've fought.

been making my way through the main missions in hard mode and... mang... whatever is the name of that talisman that decreases enemy defenses + carnage +discord, and to then pop water sword 2.... god damn, bosses legit melt.

twilight bosses fare a bit better since they've more HP than jesus, but got damn. Protection talisman is quite handy too, since it means you won't get one-shotted by a stray hit.

Also, for some reason, if prot talisman tanks the hit, one seems to still get the untouched title. Guess it only counts clean hits.

Body heart and skill is fine, but I would also suggest spirit to unlock the passives for your Guardian spirit.

And maybe Strength if you want to wear medium armor. If not you can wear light armor with just the body and skill stat

Thanks. Just making sure I don't screw myself later.

I wouldn't call that cheesing at all, looks fine to me! I beat him the same way, only way more cautiously. It felt like a really easy boss, simple to dodge attacks and get a few strikes in.

Thanks Izuna for tips. Boss turned out to not be that bad!
Destroyed both feet and two hands, and between those and attacking head each time it was enough. Had trouble dodging is jump attacks, but
Beat it within five attempts, one of the quickest ones to beat for me so far.

Random: Is there a way to carry over the lightning effect from my Raikiri to a more powerful sword that isn't a Raikiri? Edit again: Eh, just soul matched it for 700k gold and now its attack is 100 higher, plus I did some reforging and got better attributes.

What about digital? The Alpha, Beta and Last Chance Trial didn't have a physical release. I wouldn't be surprised if the digital sales are higher here than the disc sales.

Well when the game was so horribly undershipped I'd say thats incredibly likely. Had they actually bothered to stock a decent amount of units at retail though it couldve done really well there. Its just frustrating to see this happen over and over again when it comes to JP games published by Sony.

How in the world are you supposed to beat
Umi-bozu
? His
instant-death attack
has literally no windup or warning. How in the world is this boss meant to be killable? Why is this in the game?

Please help me understand how I'm supposed to do this. It's complete nonsense. People would be raking the game over the coals if Dark Souls 3 had anything like this.

Posted this before but didn't see it answered >.>

Is there a base level your Body and Heart should be just in general? Like say once you reach level 75?

Body has a soft cap at 10 and Heart has one at 15. Its recommended you get them up to those values for the extra HP and Ki. Stamina and Strength arent as essential unless you want to up your armor class whilst maintaining A rank agility.

Yea that boss is the only one in the game that feels way too dependent on luck instead of skill. Easily my least favorite boss of the game so far. Just needlessly frustrating.

It has a 3-4 sec long windup.

Just poke your wep into the braziers and have at him, most of his attacks whifd if youre right in front os him (except for the óptic blast obv)

His beam does have a windup/warning,
you just need to learn to see it. Also use
the flames that you lit or flame amulets
to do a lot more damage.

The hyper beam has roughly 3 seconds of windup. Also, light up all the torches so that the small mooks don't get in your way. You can buff your weapon with the bonfires in the arena. The boss is really weak to fire and attacking its weak spot does a lot of damage. The small versions of it should have thought you this.

a) If I use the braziers they won't take care of the spawns automatically, IIRC b) how am I even supposed to reliably melee him when I have to get that close to the water just to do so? I'm -going- to fall in, especially while dodging his laser c) this fight is trash, why are people just accepting it? Why? Someone explain this.

Okay, I'm just venting right now because I need to but
FUCK Umi-Bosu! DUMBEST boss fight I've seen, and I thought the Giant Centipede was cheese. He's not even that hard, but I KEEP FALLING OFF THE STUPID PLATFORM WHEN NEAR HIM! Honestly, so far Stage 2 has had the dumbest bosses. I REALLY hope they go up from here because these are terrible compared to the rest of the levels.

Don't tilt the left stick forward when attacking and you won't fall. If you just attack, you're safe.

You are immune to falling off platforms during attack animations. Stop pushing forward.

Lol I know, but most of the time it's when I dodge for Ki pulse. I guess I should just stand there for recovery since nothing hits me anyways....it just doesn't seem like a great design.
