Nioh |OT| Stamina is Ki

The combination of getting Ninjutsu back from LW, Extraction, Quick-Change and Unlimited Ninjutsu chance has made this game hilariously forgiving. HAHA

Also there's something with Ki Damage in this game. I think it only affects when you keep doing it. It seems that if you keep a combo (as in, keep attacking before they recover), you do progressively less Ki damage and this becomes difficult to stagger. Fighting H
onda
, I just wait a little before m next Heaven Flash and I can tagger in like 4~5 of them rather than like... 12 or something where he's almost dead.

Do you mean that spirit scales better or something. I thought heart scaling would be best for katana's as then it can double dip or something.

What I mean is, Change to Attack doesn't seem to get you that much damage boost for pure stats. Of course, when you factor in percentage boosts it's better... but... I'll show you in a moment, Just gotta get this weapon to the same as the Raikiri for a comparison.

Uhm.. Can someone receommend me a Guardian Spirit? Spirit at 11 atm, but I could level that if there's a good Guardian that requires more.

Looking mainly for passive bonuses as I use the LW as a get out of a sticky situation card and not much else. I'm a sword and bow guy with a bunch of Ninjutsu stuff, intend to level Heart, Skill and Dex mostly I think. I currently have access to:
Kato
Isonade
Daiba-washi
Fuse-ushi
Mizuchi
Raiken

Getting all my stats to 10 at the moment based on Izuna's recommendation, currently level 49:
Body 14 (should probably lower this on a respec since I mainly try to avoid as much damage with high Ki instead).
Heart 16 (scales nicely with my Raikiri and Uchi)
Stamina 10 (intend to always wear Light armor)
Strength 10
Skill 12 (main damage stat for fast weapons right?)
Dexterity 10 (I love the ninjutsu stuff)
Magic 8 (just intend to get to 10 to get some passive buffs)
Spirit 11 (for Guardian Spirit passives, might get more if there are better choices)

EDIT: Oh, and do you get Samurai points for maxing familiarity? Like, can I switch weapon, get max familiarity and a sam point and then move on to the next weapon? Or is it just familiarity with a weapon class?

Same question. Just hit water level. Same type build. Using flaming shina inu still.

Yaaaaaay.

Beat the 3rd boss after like 40 attempts.

Usually I completely give up in Souls / Bloodborne after 10.

I kept going because I felt like I was completely in control and at fault.

Never had that feeling in Souls as it's a bit more clunky.

So one thing that's very different to Dark Souls is that in Nioh the trash enemies are a joke. I blow through each level without dying once. I would die all the time to trash in Dark Souls.

The bosses are completely different. DS bosses are generally a push over, in Nioh they're taking me multiple attempts.

If you want to farm +, we can do the two kings in toori gate. They drop +4 to +6 stuff, there are 2 people that drop and quest reward can also give divine (+4 to +6).

I can instakill Tachi and Honda is slow

I don't know if that mission is available, is it? It has no shrine. Anyway if we can then sure.

So I have 99 Heart, and 15 Spirit, and yet the attack value isn't very different? (Familiarity Damage Bonus doesn't appear in the stats.

I'm going to Make my Tengu-kiri absorb the Raikiri anyway so it will have that stat and be +8, but it seems here that getting Change to Attack (Heart) is the best, but it's not THAT much better.

What do you think next game should be called?

I want them to tackle Bakumatsu-Meiji era now (I just want shinsengumi Haori) and Nioh does not really fit that as a title unfortunately.

I also kinda want next game to have a character creator, but that's just me, I'll be fine if they go with a pre-determined character again.

I just defeated S
hima Sakon
.
Pretty awesome fight.

Quick-change scroll seems a bit buggy in this fight. Not sure what's up with that.

Well, that is obviously an optional dead-end. You need the key from the large building in the area from before all the stairs that lead to that cave area. From there, you can either return up the hill to the main castle and tackle the boss, or jump down the hole in the small fenced area with the small house to an optional area that leads to two of the giant spiders who hold the Hiragumo fragments.

Yeah for some reason the activation delays to next hit. Happened bunch of times to me when he killed me with the grab.

Do other people in co-op see the skin you are wearing? Also I've been going all-round in stats, since by looking at things caps/soft caps are a bit weird in this game, and I have been trying to try a bit of everything. Do we still know how stat scaling and caps work?

They see the skin in co-op.

If I have lower equip rate do I get any more iframes on the dodge?

Right now I'm wearing around 60% equip load and am considering dropping it down to 30%. I've seen that the dodge goes further and maybe Ki recovers faster this way. Is there any other effect?

Question regarding dual swords. Anyone ever use the unsheath attack? I can't think of when I'd ever use it. Also, water slice vs whirlwind? I find whirlwind tends to be useful in more scenarios, though mostly I spam the low attack kick double slice finisher. Gonna trim down my build to stuff I'll actually use, so I have more points for passives. I plan to just stick with two different elemental dual swords for discord.

I feel bad about how lucky I am. I get my desired smithing texts within a couple of tries all the time, and sometimes even accidentally more than once. My second crafted pair of the Master Swordman's set dual swords rolled with 6 attributes and no inheritable ones, making it possible to get 7 total.

Giant Centipede is giving me skulltula flashbacks. the latter used to creep[ me the fuck out, and now I'm fighting a giant one lmao.

any tips for him? He's pretty consistently getting me when he goes back for his body

Nioh Oh Oh Oh

Use the map to your advantage. Theres a rock up top you can go near to get around his back and break him again. Then go to town.

I love the slicing in this game; the sound itself is very satisfying and then finishing a yokai with 3 quick slashes and seeing arm, leg and then head go flying off just doesn't get old. Classic Team Ninja.

lmao fought
Mitsunari
and was wondering what to do. In frustration I spammed high stance with kusarigama, lo and behold it broke his Ki immediately. Basically a improved horned yokai fight.

I'm at the start of the last region, and I can't help but think that having a blank, create your own character would have been so much better, as the story does nothing for me. Beyond that, the predefined character usually just looks clueless like a silent protagonist, so not much would have been lost. Not having the option to play as a female in this game is silly.

It took me 75mins but I figured out the trick to
Yuki-Onna's super dash
. It has a limited range so when you see that shit happening back the fuck up!

Also bombs destroys the projectiles.
