So you go to a planet with tons of gold. Is the gold worth a lot for trade? In other words if you mine gold can you get rich????
It's valuable but not as much as other elements.

That's what I just did so yeah.
Maybe watch some streams playing with the 1.03 patch? That should clear up questions of what's in the game at launch.
The nomansskythrowawy stream guy claimed he was running with the patch. He was able to store 250 units in his suit and 500 in his ship, and "pop-in" seemed less pronounced, so I guess that checks out?
Has any streamers had a creature poop out a gift yet?

Anyone else have mixed feelings about the in-system presentation? On one hand, I'd have preferred realism. One thing I actually love about Elite: Dangerous is that it really forces you to appreciate the vastness of space. It really jams it in there. Space is big. I expected something of the same here. On the other hand, the proximity of the planets speeds along the core game loop and makes something mind-numbingly vast feel a little warmer. More inviting. And on my third hand, it makes for great screenshots. Eh. I guess it's ok.
So, eh, you enjoying it? Is the game any good?
It's taken me completely by surprise, every time I visit a new planet or star system it's like escaping the sewers in Elder Scrolls 4 or playing Mario in 3D for the first time.
I've been to about 30 planets and while I can't say every one has been as amazing as the last there's no sign of it growing old at all any time soon.
Sweet. This makes me optimistic. It's taken me completely by surprise, every time I visit a new planet or star system it's like escaping the sewers in Elder Scrolls 4 or playing Mario in 3D for the first time.

Does pre-load on PS4 happen automatically or is there a download button I need to click somewhere?
Should be automatic. Or you can usually trigger it from the library. I had to manually check for updates for the patch, tho.
BeetlejuiceDo we know what's at the center yet?

Well, one day later and this guy has the entire "path of the atlas" + ending as a video uploaded.
One thing I'm confused about with this game is the expectations going in. There seems to be 3 camps of people: the naysayers, the optimists who expect to play exactly what Sean Murray showed, and the optimists who think there are a bunch of hidden systems and features that haven't been shown. I've seen post after post saying that people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think there's more to it and on the flip side people saying they can't wait to see all of the features and such hidden away in the game. Now that we have a bunch of streams and impressions about the game which camp was right? I just want some clarification so I know what to expect when I play the game.
Sorry, I know I should've kept up with this thread more so I could just know the answer by now but the thread got so big I didn't know where to begin.
And by which camp was right I'm specifically referring to the there's a lot of hidden features vs what Sean showed is what you'll be playing. I don't really care about the 3rd group.
So the center of the galaxy = portal to a new galaxy ?
What a let down...

I'm confused. Is there just 1 galaxy or an entire universe (billions of galaxies)?
From what I understand, there is not a universe. Instead you start in one galaxy, get to the center, move on to a new galaxy, on and on as long as you like. But it's not as if those galaxies are arranged physically in a universe, they're all separate entities.
And every player starts in the same Galaxy #1, moves on to the same Galaxy #2, etc.
Anyway if the above is true, the center is nothing but a portal to the next galaxy with no real reveal or anything...that is disappointing.

Bro there are like 100 billion galaxies in a universe. There is no universe map but the fact everyone goes into the same galaxy #2, #3 etc, suggests to me there IS an end point, it's just lots of galaxies away.
I hope so!
I am... Really disappointed the center of the galaxy isShame. Maybe rarer stuff shows up more often the further you go in?just a wormhole thing to the next galaxy, repeatedly.
