Obama asks the french people to vote for Macron in the presidential election

So much for Le Pen not making it to the second round like some GAFers claimed in another thread. Because "polls". because "France is not the US". It was obvious that she would.

Let's hope Obama's support is enough to keep the scales from tipping in Le Pen's favor.

wasn't she always projected to make second round?

I can imagine the internal conflict for a certain left audience that went from Socialists to Melanchon and are like "Macron is the worst" but they probably idolize Obama like the savior of humanity.

This is always a cursor problem. The left went pretty extreme this election and Macron is now the worst satan's capitalistic creature when there was way way worse on the right. Yet the republicans still think macron is wayyyyy not on the right enough for them, and some sort of dangerous communist.

Everything is too much on the left or the right for french people now. It's really difficult to have a middle ground moderate path, as it's already seen as some unbearable hell.

The "polls" as you said had her leading at the start of the campaign though. The fall she experienced in the polls was represented in the result of the first round as well.

No one questioned that Le Pen was advancing to the second turn, people are actually saying that her result in the first turn was disappointing compared to expectations. She only had a 1% and a 1,8% lead against the third and fourth candidate. It was a bad result for her.

I don't think you really followed the election to be honest.

What happened in the debate? Any english summary etc?

She completely fucked it up.

The article doesn't seem to convey a bad she did last night. Not answering question and choosing instead to attack Macron, spreading 19 false information as well as spreading a russian hoax concerning an alleged off shore of Macron, confusing industrial cases and this gem (disregard the text, its a unrelated joke).

Lol, what the hell are you talking about? Every poll was giving Le Pen qualifying for 2nd round, she was even leading for a long period of time. We said she had no chance to win the second round, that's a huge difference.

Obama is not left in the grand scale of global political ideologies, he's as centrist as they come.

Obama has good intentions but I wonder if this will backfire.

When I hear "USA getting involved in foreign affairs", it doesn't sound positive.

It's not USA getting involved in elections in France. It's Obama the citizen getting involved. And I think many French citizen like him.

Obama is a glorified citizen at this point.. so he is free to do whatever he likes. It isn't the same as Trump, a sitting president, all but endorsing Le Pen which he pretty much did a couple weeks ago..

You're so full of shit. The polls were clearly pointing to Le Pen making it to the second round for a year+, she made it through by beating two other people by a meager 1.5 percent.

Some of you have such a fetish for disparaging statistics for not being perfect all the time that you're now rewriting history to conform with your narrative.

Any news on Russia meddling with the French elections too? I remember reading something about The Front Nationale getting some funds from russian sources.

Moving on, it actually is sort of nice to see a more international effort combating the worldwide rise in protectionist/nationalist rhetoric. The diehards will see it as meddling but we do need to remind normal people that there's an active component to being part of the global community and at its bare minimum that is voting.

Of course he does. So Le Pen will win.

That depends on who wins. If Macron wins, all is well. If Le Pen wins, Russia meddled. It's really that simple. Russians are ex post facto responsible for Brexit too.

This is literally equivalent to russian wikileaks and the left will ignore it.

On an unrelated note, alt-right talking points are literally indistinguishable from satire.

Obama: It was me, I was wikileaks all along.

This is the dumbest post I have seen this month. Congrats!

Edit: Boo, you aren't a name I recognize for this stuff.

it's amazing how many people around the internet actually think Le Pen has a shot at winning because Trump or whatever

Hillary was never polling in the freaking 60s just days before the election

My post says I wish I could think in such simple terms (like an alt-right person).

It's wholly irrelevant that his post was satire. Thus, the second sentence doesn't change my comment.

Y'all are thirsty for a "gotcha" moment, huh?

My bad for misinterpreting...but nah I couldn't care less about a gotcha moment.

I rarely saw such an uninformed post. Which doesn't even seem to be ideologically motivated. Just unadulterated ignorance.

Video of Trump supporting Le Pen in 3...2...1....

"I love France. I really do. I ate french fries yesterday.

I support Mary El Pen for president.

From what I've heard on cable TV, while working very hard, she's tremendous. See, I know some french.

She's gonne be great. I can't wait to see her at Mar-a-lago. She's gonna love it."

Wow. You got his speech down perfectly. Amazing.

The only reason Trump hasn't done all that already because he's worried she will lose. He only jumps on the bandwagon when it looks like he can take credit for something.

We already have links between her party financement and Russia, there was no need for her to win to find them.

Intellectually, I can acknowledge that this is a good post.

Emotionally, though, that second line might as well not exist. Too real, man.
