You said it was "self explanatory" why you felt your gay friend's views were "views are out there" or at the very least why you had a vehement disagreement with his person.

And you're confused; I'm not talking about voting for Obama's pastor, I'm talking about supporting him even though you have vehement disagreements with him. I'm confirming you feel it's perfectly ok, legitimate, and moral, to continue to support someone you vehemently disagree with.
I've never met anyone I agree with entirely. I have vehement disagreements with my wife, and we've been married nine years and have two kids and are quite happy together. I'll vote for someone with whom I also have disagreements in similar form, as long as those issues are not deal-breakers. It's a lower bar for politicians than say, wives, of course. Not that I expect you to find the distinction.

i meant with tom that he was gay which i do not believe in but i respect tom. Maybe you don't understand what respect means? and i support him in his sex change though i do not agree.

and you base this off of one or 2 speeches?

how many black churchs you been 2?

believe it or not i liked most of what i heard from Wright. It was on the edge yes but inside that speech was many truths.

9 years and 2 kids. me 2. good post

Just read Baracks response.

It was perfect and he said everything he needed to say to convince me that this kind of rhetoric is unnacceptable.

Obama's back in and my doubts are gone.

Because these particular statements by Rev. Wright are so contrary to my own life and beliefs, a number of people have legitimately raised questions about the nature of my relationship with Rev. Wright and my membership in the church. Let me therefore provide some context.

Perfect. All people wanted to hear is that this doesn't look good.

The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments. But because Rev. Wright was on the verge of retirement, and because of my strong links to the Trinity faith community, where I married my wife and where my daughters were baptized, I did not think it appropriate to leave the church.

End of story. Let's move on now.

Anyway, I find most disturbing how much attention is given to the candidates' religion and their respective churches.

QFT

imagine if he went to one of those churches where they danced with snakes:lol

Luckily there's 5-6 weeks till Pennsylvania so hopefully this will have been forgotten by then. Would've been much worse if this broke like a week before the primary or something. As it is now, it'll probably be old news by then.

Obama is a way better candidate than Hillary, but DAMN is that preaching scary. The whole feel, tone, and reactions from the crowd scares me. And the fact that Obama has been attending it for quite a while is unsettling.

AmishNazi: you too are confused then, and responding to unasked questions. I know you all want to jump down my throat the instant you see my handle / avatar, but while trolling me at least attempt to understand what you're trolling in response to.

What did I misunderstand about:

"It must be heart-wrenching to hear Obama categorically reject comments you agree with like that. I think if I were one of the people here who were spinning for the accuracy of Wright's words I'd be having a crisis of faith re: my commitment to a candidate who was so far apart ideologically. Very sad."

I responded to that my mind isn't changed just because Obama doesn't believe the same way I do about some of the issues in the black community. Stop playing victim I responded to your post, and by no means "jumped down your throat".

I have complete faith in the media to dig up even more asinine shit to throw at him between now and then.

thats how it gets some time in a black church when it gets passionate. i actually liked the sermon if you can call it that. :D

Actually while I do understand the distinction--and I don't see why you need to attack me like this, since I did nothing to provoke you--I question: 1. why for you the bar is considered lower in terms of issues-agreement vs wives (f/e I don't see why it should matter to you what your wife's opinion on universal health care is, as opposed to how you should raise your children together); 2. why you feel disagreements over whether or not God should damn America is of minor importance.

Also, saying an issue isn't a dealbreaker unless it's a dealbreaker is not saying anything, BTW.

AmishNazi: you're incoherent; you said you responded to that to say you didn't necessarily believe everything Wright said, not Obama. You're spinning in circles--take a second to just breathe, center yourself, collect your thoughts, and then if you feel the need respond to me.

Lefty42o: I don't understand what you mean when you say you don't believe in being gay.

you ever been married?

Thinking about this whole hubbub, I think I need an update on Barack Obama's profile:

An anti-American presidential candidate with no experience, half-white, confirmed muslim extremist tutored by a black supremacist christian and married to a hateful woman who may or may not hate the US too.

Did I miss something?

You're also forgot his close ties to the Weather Underground.

And yet, that's still better than a 3rd term of Bush;)

Details please. Shocking indeed.

He was basically saying it might not be right to put so much emphaize of this issue. And that he will take Obama at his word and respect that.

When I see Barack Obama, in the last few days since the Wright err I mean the Wrong expose' explaining himself to who will listen, make these white folks feel comfortable.

I'm reminded of a Dave Chappelle stand up shows, when talking about black kids getting out of the "ghetto".

I always tell the kids.............(pregnant pause) "you gonna have to learn, learn to shoot a jump shot, learn to dance, sell crack do something, I don't know what else to tell ya.

Obama, is stuck between a Barack and a hard place.

Yep he just happened to be not there every time wright said something stupid come one. What next you believe I did not inhale line?

Obama he blew his chance he should of left that church years ago. Staying at a place that preaches what wright does only makes me question Obama's character even more. Now I know where Obama's wife came up with her comments of not being proud of america till now. The media has let him off light as usual except fox news.

*yawn*

My first post to you was quite clear. I'm not spinning. I merely stated that the fact that Obama is denouncing these views does not change my mind on them.

I don't have to agree with either's whole ideal system or opinions to respect both of them. Neither do I I have to believe everything that comes out of someone's mouth just because I respect them.

That was with regards to the fact that you said we the people who were defending the Wright comments were going to change our mind just because Obama denounced them. Which you took as me saying Obama was a liar.

Plus I haven't attacked you once in this thread yet you keep saying I am. You are the one spinning and twisting my words.

So O Reilly has been on this subject twice already. One last night and now tonight. Not once did he bring up the comments from John McCain's spiritual advisor. Talk about fair and balanced. :lol

How often you think he went to church? you're just assuming and looking like and ass in progress.

These speeches were brought to his attention when when running for president. Now if you don't believe him say so.. don't put words in his mouth.

This post just dropped the IQ level of this thread severely. Maybe you would be better served by going back to watching Fox News.

Wasn't Obama going to make the rounds on all major networks tonight? CNN, MSNBC and FOX

There could be other statements or video that will come out and you will see Obama sitting there which will be a whole other headache or someone will bring other angles to these videos showing Obama there. He better be sure he is correct.

One good thing going for him is since this is a predominantly black church, then you'll probably see a "no snitching" rule in place;)

Nah can't let him do that shit. If you do it's like a victory for him. :lol

He'll most likely clam the fuck for a while like he usually does.

I was thinking that same thing earlier. That would come back to bite him hard if it were the case.

Uhh, so it was in another post entirely, and you randomly chose to quote one that had nothing to do with what you were saying. And I twisted nothing--stop your baseless attacks--I asked a question because that's what it read like you were saying.

Uhh, except here's what I asked: "where in that post ..." Seriously guy, WTF?

Edit: I think your problem is, you have 13 different things you want to say, and 27 different ways you want to say it, so every one of your responses is an exercise in parsing logorrhea

I've been searching on the internet to see if that is actually a fact.

The thread posted here only says that McCain called him a "spiritual guide". There is a clear distinction that needs to be addressed.

Does anyone have a link for me that shows Hagee is McCain's personal spiritual advisor rather than just some nut who endorsed him?

Yeah, I'd say a guide is more than an adviser:P That's someone who leads the way and shows him the path.

I'm just going by what the media has been calling him. =\

siamesedreamer: frankly all that matters is that McCain disagrees with comments I disagree with--and even then it's a low bar to pass. Who he chooses to support (or v/v) is inconsequential.

You said I called Obama a liar in a response to people supporting the reverend's comments. I never even said Obama's name, and I was quite clearly one of the people supporting the reverend in this thread. Yet you said I was calling Obama a liar. You knew what I was responding to I fucking quoted it in my response.

God you're such a fucking troll. There I attacked you finally. Happy now.
