Will add you after work.
I'm up for a challenge.....if you can manage to get one setup that is. Don't think anyone on GAF has since they updated the site.
The_Inquisitor said:Well just completed my first 45 minute of my life. Oh my god it was absolutely BRUTAL. It does get easier right? Problem is I think my stupid sensor undertracked me. It says I only ran 4.6 miles, which seems incredibly low. I am going to recalibrate tomorrow.
i've picked up running again with some consistency so i wouldnt mind getting in on a challenge as well. id is sefskillzThe_Inquisitor said:I'll try to start a new challenge soon to those still here. If you have jumped off the train, you are welcome to jump back on.
I would try to keep walking until you feel like you can run again. If you have a problem with chaffing then use vaseline to reduce any friction.Vigilant Walrus said:if im to fat to run, what do I do to get in shape to begin running again?
Basically now, my inner thise get sore from walking. I need help. I've been biking, but I can only do it for 1 hour at a time before my back starts to hurt, a lot. situation is messed up.

As I've said in the past I mainly walk due to my knees and I get around 6-7k a day. I bike a bit here and there but this isn't really for that as it doesn't really track a bike ride accurately.
jts said:So I'm trying to get back to this.
Started of 2 weeks ago, and have been able to run 5 or 6 times (not always with Nike+).
First 2 or 3 runs were "harsh" (although they were mostly walking) but I could bare them. But after the 4th or 5th run my calves got really sore, I could barely walk after last Wednesday's run.
I stopped for almost a whole week, and then got back yesterday. It was incredibly how much I was able to run without getting tired (big cardiorespiratory progress) but then, after the 10 minute mark, my lower legs and knees gave in again, especially the calves. The same pain I experienced last week.
Sucks.
I'm still overweight (203lbs) which I figure it's harsh for my legs.
I also overpronate.
Now, what are my options here:
-stop running until I lose some more weight (I already lost 10 pounds)
-do some muscle training to gain strength on my lower legs
-warm up a little better (I currently walk 30 seconds and then start running)
-get some new shoes (3yo Gel Kayano XIII currently)
-use a couple of those elastic bands thingies on my calves
Or whatever.
What do you guys think?
It's frustrating because I'm getting fit overall but my legs and keeping me down.

I might start using that instead of the sensor, it should be a lot more accurate. Compatible with iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4.
Hmm, I took it as a COMPLEMENT to the sensor?micromagic said:Nike have just released an iPhone Nike+ GPS app. No sensor required in shoe anymore! Nike+ GPS advert.

Haven't run with it yet but turned it on for my walk to work this morning. Works just like the normal Nike+ except without the need for a separate sensor. But in addition, it maps your route so you can see in real time exactly the route you have taken on the map. Soon as you finish you can upload directly to Nike+ with comments etc. So far so good.Great King Bowser said:I'd be interested to hear how you get along with this.

I wish it were free though. I've been using Endomondo instead lately and it's awesome. And free!micromagic said:Nike have just released an iPhone Nike+ GPS app. No sensor required in shoe anymore! Nike+ GPS advert.

mikeybwright said:You might wanna add that it works with ipod touches (2nd, 3rd, 4th generations running iOS 4.0 or later). A lot of people including myself got the free Ipod Touch 8gig (2nd gen) from Square-Enix, so this is perfect. (sorry for the double post)
kottila said:Is the app any good without the GPS though?
Sure but what does the new Nike+ app do that Runkeeper does not do for free already?mikeybwright said:So if you have an Iphone, use that. If not, and you have an ipod touch laying around...give it a shot it's only 2 bucks.
The new app isn't stand alone as such, it still uploads to your online Nike+ profile after every run.ShyGuy said:Sure but what does the new Nike+ app do that Runkeeper does not do for free already?
I initially thought the new Nike+ app was in conjunction with the original app(and sensor) but now it just looks like a standalone app exactly like Runkeeper...
Is that a fair comment?
Wow, insecure much? :lol"All of you big guys jumping in with major marketing budgets, you are doing this as a brand play," writes Runkeeper CEO Jason Jacobs. "We are not. You are doing this to try to ultimately sell more people your footwear/apparel. We are not. You are big and slow moving. We are not."
Excellent, thanks for the link.micromagic said:The new app isn't stand alone as such, it still uploads to your online Nike+ profile after every run.
There's an article on TUAW comparing the new app with runkeeper and other running apps, worth a read.
ShyGuy said:Excellent, thanks for the link.
I'll definitely stick with Runkeeper until this Nike+ either becomes free or becomes better.
Not worth $1.99 imo.
Just ran the same 10k and did 46'30". Goddamn, fucking crushed last year's time!Cyan said:49'40"

YagizY said:How did you guys sync your stuff to the nike site? When I plug in my iPod Touch to sync my iTunes asked if I wanted to sync the info. It says it synced the info but it isn't anywhere on the Nike+ site and how am I even supposed to link iTunes with the Nike+ website? How can it sync to the Nike+ website if iTunes doesn't even know anything about my Nike+ account?
Anyway. Is the GAF group still around and/or active. If so could someone add me or tell me how to findit

I just got some Under Armor so that I could run in the cold whether so I am starting to run again. I am starting to have knee problems though. I started feeling some pain on my left knee a month or two ago. I waited a couple of weeks and started running less to let it rest but the pain just comes back after I any run now. It hurts a bit even now when I try to extend my leg all the way. Anyone experienced this? What did you guys do to heal? I really want to continue running with it, but not if I will become crippled. :lol
