So anyone seen a PS3 running in Britain? And don't say "Games Exchange" because they can't even afford a HiDef display.

I played one in London at the Game On Exibition in January - it was a really bad Motorstorm demo where the cars got stuck in the rocks (Tokyo Games Show version). It was almost impossible to finish the race without getting stuck and the tilt controlls were unusable. Hopefully MStorm doesn't suck as badly now as it did then (reviews suggest it doesn't).

Yes but not quite like that. Backwards is bow. Right is wave. The only examples given so far. (In the clothing menu it moves your head)

EDIT

Wait a sec...

When will the PS3’s remote play functionality be available from outside the home?
This was one question I had to ask - and one of the major reasons I wanted a PS3 in the first place, it’s a really great piece of media functionality. I missed this question in the Q&A but managed to ask him afterwards. He said “Remote Play from wireless hotspots? It’s included in the 1.6 update“.

It is?

Would be totally awesome if you could access the content on your PS3 from anywhere with 1.6

Seems like a pretty big update.

When will the PS3 have the TV recording fonction ?
I'm sure this thing was first announced then disapear with no reason.
Have any info ?

If I remember correctly they announced that at E3. A big march update with features and later in the year DVR-like functions in XBM.

I am almost sure I have seen slides on the subject.

It's what the Wii has, but the PS3 doesn't at the moment.

Pinpointing your position in "space".

The Wii can't do that either. It can tell where you're pointing (if the remote can see the sensor bar), the pitch / yaw / roll of the controller and its acceleration in three axis but it can't tell where it is or you are. If you moved the controller three feet to the left with constant velocity while pointing the it at the ground, the Wii wouldn't have the slightest idea. Even if you pointed at the screen it still couldn't do it properly - it might be able to take a rough guess at your movements due to the sensor bar FOV shrinking slightly but I wouldn't count on it.

I have no idea what Sony have in mind for the EyeToy but it could track you as you move left and right in front of it. It might even be able to tell how far away you were from the screen from your relative head size. It wouldn't be super accurate (and would probably be confused by multiple people unless they're forced to wear headbands or something) but it would be enough to give it some spatial awareness.

Just fully paid off my pre-order tonight at EB.

They price matched the TRU Deal ($1099.97 with Motorstorm and Resistance)

I got 60gig PS3, Motorstorm, Resistance, Vf5 and Formula 1 for $1250 saving about $170.

One week to go!!!!!

Translation:
A German site called Cynamite got its hands on a PAL PS3. The first thing they took for a spin was, of course PS3's BC. Sony promised that around 1000 titles will work on start. The tested games were:

God of War
MGS 2: Sons of Liberty
MGS 3: Snake Eater
Shadow of the Colossus
Guitar Hero 2
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
Okami
GTA: Liberty City Stories
Eragon
Final Fantasy X-2
Ratchet & Clank 3
Lumines Plus

So how many did work you ask? Only one. Which one? Eragon...

190x.jpg

:lol Yup You won't be able to play such hits as GoW, Okami, SotC, GTA, R&C, MGS BUT Eragon will be there for you.:lol

:(

German Game Site Posts False PS3 B/C Info

When you don't listen to the information, you tend to give misinformation. See how that works? And before this misinformation begins to flood the Internet, we'll clear it up right now:

German website Cynamite has reported that many high-profile PS2 games don't work on the European PS3, which caused some instant freak-outs from gamers everywhere. According to the site, top titles like God of War, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, and Guitar Hero II don't work on the synthesizer chip-less PS3. This flew directly in the face of Phil Harrison's announcement that around 1,200 PS2 and PS1 games would immediately work on Euro PS3s.

But if you read that article closely, you'll notice something else: while the PS3 is coming equipped with firmware update 1.5, it does not come with firmware update 1.6 (although it will be ready to download come launch day). And what does update 1.6 do, class? That's right, it allows the backwards compatibility via software/hardware emulation to function correctly. Sony quickly pointed this out to 1Up when queried about the Cynamite news.

"The article is misleading," said SCEE director of corporate communications Nick Sharples. "As the console tested by Cynamite was not using the latest firmware upgrade, the information posted on its site is meaningless."

See what happens when you don't read the manual? So don't let this false information deter you, Euro gamers. More than likely, all of the games Cynamite tested will work just fine once firmware update 1.6 is installed. And as we already said, the update should be ready to go at the Store on March 23.

Crazy. Apparently Sony Europe will be hijacking various websites as part of its promotions for the PS3:

http://www.nma.co.uk/Articles/32276/Sony+plans+targeted+home-page+takeovers+for+EU+launch+of.html
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) is planning home-page takeovers of MySpace, Sky Sports and Yahoo! on 23 March, the European launch date of the PlayStation 3. The strategy will form the central element of its digital promotion for the long-awaited console. The takeovers are targeted towards specific demographics, such as sports fans and entertainment enthusiasts, to represent the groups that SCEE believes the console will appeal to.

Sony Germany announced today a HUGE advertising campaign for germany, with a lot of TV Spots on big channels and online advertising on popular websites.

You can already see some short introduction spots, but there will be much longer spots (from 68 seconds up to 204 seconds!) just before the PS3 launches. :D

Guys, buy the 200h-of-fun-Oblivion, not the 30min-of-fun-Motorstorm.

'twould be significantly cheaper to get the PC version. Oblivion was horrifically expensive on the 360 (€70) compared to the PC (€45), and a full year later it must be cheaper yet.

More like the 5-minutes-of-fun-Oblivion.

It's not like it's any different to the 360 version, is it?

lol..as a result of the NPD i have cancelled my PS3 order.. i had the choice of dollars for my USA trip of a PS3 and i said PS3 but now ive reverted.. no way can sony take a hammering like this without doing something drastic and being an early adopter when theres a struggle is not a good idea. I want to play Resistance, Motorstorm and MLB so badly.. but i guess ill pick them up later for cheap :(

It's going to be really interesting to see how the sales turn out, since we'll have a global image of the PS3's status then. If the sales are as low here compared to the States and Japan... wow.

No it's not, but everyone who hasn't played it yet should buy it. In my opinion, it has just so much more value than for example Motorstorm.

And I also cancelled my preorder, but more because I spent too much money last month and can't afford it now. I wanted it only for the BR player.

I find it kind of strange that I cant enjoy a blu-ray movie in 720p on the ps3. I mean 90% of the HD-READY tvs sold does not support 1080p. Is this something that is hardware related or is it possible for a future firmwareupdate that fixes this problem. If not I will never buy a blu-ray movie ever (or at least to when a player is affordable). Any info on this subject?

100% of HD-READY sets have to be able to accept 1080i inputs. The PS3 is currently limited to 1080i/p Blu-ray output. The problem is that not all TVs do a good job of downscaling, with most being totally lazy and discarding half of the scanlines.

The ps3package I have preordered and prepaid for includes Talladega Nights on Blue-Ray. I guess I find out how good the experience will be on my newly bought Toshiba 37".

Yay! Just read that Sony Switzerland has sent out the reservation "tickets" for those who pre-ordered via their site (http://www.preorder-ps3.ch/)! And the cool thing is a gift will be included :D

Wonder what it will be... let you know what it was.

Yes, I hyped for the launch! :D :D

Sad times, I just cancelled mine too (lost my job on tuesday). I can't afford to shell out so much money at this time. I'll definitely pick one up when i can.

Already got my space reserved on my AV rack :D Also got a spare socket reserved on my surge protector and my new HDMI cable plugged in so that I'll be set up within 5 minutes of unwrapping it :D

I know £425 still seems like a lot but:

I get a free copy of Casino Royale from Sony (RRP ~£20) and Gamestation give a free copy of X-Men 3 as well (RRP is actually about £30 for Fox titles like X Men, Fantastic Four, Ice Age 2 etc). So that's basically £50 worth of free Blu-ray movies...and since I'm buying this 50:50 for movies and games, that's a damn good deal to me.

Another way to look at it is that it's £212.50 for the next Playstation, and £212.50 for the world's best Blu-ray player with two free movies

hehe me too, just moved my gamecube to my gfs appartment :D
Still not 100% sure what game to buy...think I'm getting Motorstorm since shooters are not my type of thing. And I still have FF12 to beat :)

I'm going for Motorstorm and possibly F1. Two racing games, I know, but Resistance didn't really hook me when I played it. I'll buy it eventually though. I was thinking of buying Virtua Fighter and the stick but I tried VF4: Evo a few days ago (with my modded Hori Pro stick) and I stink at the game now. I think my Virtua Fighter glory days are over forever so I'm stepping away from it gracefully :(

I cancelled my first preorder (i preordered aug 06) a week ago because elkjøp here in Norway had a bundle cheaper with a movie and a game (call of duty 3). I am a bit sad that there is only one game I want to play (Motorstorm) at launch. My plan is to trade in Call of duty 3 and buy Motorstorm the same day I get the machine.

Just got home and this is what I found in my letterbox:

DSC01322.JPG

The letter says I have exactly ONE day to get my PS3 otherwise it will be sold to somebody else :lol
...not that I expect I wouldn't be able to catch one a few days later...it's just funny.

Oblivion, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Rainbow Six: Vegas, F.E.A.R. and Untold Legends have been delayed according to some French sites

Weird if Untold Legends is delayed. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the other games got delayed. Is Rainbow Six even out in USA? That's one of those UE3 games, isn't it?

Let's sum up the situation:
6 months late, between $150 and $250 dollars more expensive, and doesn't even play as many games.

That pole is even thicker and more covered in broken glass than usual.
