I think you underestimate the fact that Full Metal Alchemist is EVERYWHERE here. It might not be as deeply entrenched as One Piece and Naruto are now from having been around for a while, nor is the series set to last as long, but as of right now, FMA is tops. Easily, I would say.Belfast said:

Ch. 329 is out with translated script.
Seems like Usopp may end up shining in this arc. Its obvious how important the Going Merry is to him (and on a side note, I'm rather pissed that SJ USA introduced it as the Merry Go in the most recent issue - I don't know if its the right translation or not, but it just doesn't sound as good and it isn't the widely accepted name for the ship) and I believe he'll fight to the death to protect it or the money needed to "fix" it.
The summary is basically as follows: After Usopp gets beaten up and the Franky Family takes his money, he decides that he's going to go confront them alone. Meanwhile, the crew members that have yet to hear of the Merry's fate (other than Robin) are informed that the ship cannot be fixed and must be replaced. As everyone loves the Merry, this is, of course, hard to swallow.
At the Franky House, they're celebrating having collected enough money to realize their dream (whatever it is, they don't say). Don't know how powerful Franky is, but he certainly has a very interesting look. He looks like a weird cross between Aku from Samurai Jack and an evil Harlequine. Usopp shows up and demands the money back. Franky says that its their money now because there's nobody that's going to stop them from stealing from pirates. If the Straw Hats go to the Marines, they'll surely get arrested. Basically, its up to the Straw Hats to get their own money back. Usopp essentially gets the crap beaten out of him again.
Sanji, Zoro, and Chopper go looking for Usopp and meet up with Luffy, who was trying (and failing) to duplicate Kaku's ability to run really fast and jump rooftops. The four see blood and realize its Usopp, following it back to his broken body in front of the Franky House. The final two pages show the four basically walking towards the Franky House ready to kick some ass, so next chapter, the shit should hit the fan.

1.) His face is hidden behind a mask
2.) Their objectives are unclear - could be something interesting.
3.) He has a big stature. And Luffy says he wants a new crew member that's like 8 feet tall or something.
4.) It'll surprise the fans a lot.
The only bad thing is that he's really beating up Usopp right now, so that's :-/
and personally, I thought Nami was going to kick some ass cuz she loves the gold.

As far as the ratings thing goes, in Newtype is usually says that Naruto gets the equivalent of a 6 share, while OP gets a 14 or something.
We already knew that OP > Naruto, but numbers only help support that argument.
Yeah, still makes me mad that they've taken so long, too. I would've rather that they just put off Movie 3 for awhile, or make it a "backburner" project where they work on it little by little and release it whenever its done. Releasing it in its current spot is only pandering to the idiotic SUPERANIMEFANBOY contingent who actually cares about this sort of thing despite the fact that the movies have little to no impact/relation to the overall plot. So whenever the movie is released, it really doesn't matter, because you aren't missing out on anything important to the story. That, combined with the delay on 103 that I mentioned above has me rather vexed at the more anal anime fans out there. Honestly, most of the time I could care less about the quality of a sub as long as its in decent English and the point gets across. A little syntax error here or there is too silly to get worked up over, but people do anyway. :|
Anyway, I started reading the manga recently, as well, but I'm only starting with the current Water 7 Arc. I still want to leave everything between now and Water 7 for the anime and I only have some rather vague knowledge of what happens/characters in-between. However, at least reading the manga gives me something to look forward to since K-F has been slacking off.

I'm not reading the thread as I'm only up to episode 30 but this show is awesome. Thanks for the constant pimping of it here. The Buggy part wasn't all that great (the dog was cool though), but after that the show's been going all out. Good stuff.
Dammit! Buggy rocks! You'll see him again later as he comes back at Loguetown (episode 50-something I think) when they starting heading towards the Grand Line. Though I don't think Buggy has been seen again in the official canon since then, (semi-spoiler) he did say he'd follow Luffy and co. into the Grand Line and get revenge (end semi-spoiler), so I doubt its the last we've seen of him. He's pretty much comic relief, anyway.

I just saw the first two episodes and I must say I quite liked it! Funny characters and an awesome pirate universe. I'll have to wait until I see the next episode because my girlfriend took the laptop to Europe and she'll be gone for two months. I'm back on my lousy 5 year old computer. I can only download one or two episodes on this computer(due to space), so no 2GB batches.

Oh, it's not that the Buggy part was bad, I just don't feel it compares to the rest. Buggy himself is great. I'm glad to hear that about the next arc.
K-F is supposed to be releasing Movie 3 tonight (Thursday) at the usual time, midnight.
That's cool and all, but I'd still rather just move along with the plot at this point. I'm kinda mad that K-F got everyone hyped up about finally being past all the filler in the middle of the Arabasta Arc and then decide they were going to their sweet-ass time in continuing the story.

well, movie 3 has been delayed to "much later tonight" whatever that means.
If I find a translator, I'll start my own fansub group and sub One Piece. I wouldn't mind working on a site, torrenting the releases and coordinating the episodes between the different members and doing some editing. It'll be easy to find encoders and raw providors from the animesuki fansub forum.. it's the translation that's hard. It's not like I can learn japanese in 6 months.

Wishful thinking, but you better believe that way of thinking can work. Shocwave was tearing up the manga scene by releasing 40+ chapters in a few weeks, and no doubt OP fans are thirsty enough for a speedy release schedule.
Of course, I would qualify as an editor not a translator, so the grass is always greener on this side...

That said, Ch. 330 is out and Arlong Park reports that in the new SJ US Sanji's cigarettes get to stay in!! For those who don't read SJ US, they should be starting the Baratie Arc next issue, due out first Tuesday of August.

The whole chapter is basically Luffy/Zoro/Sanji/Chopper doing the Tarantino strut (again!) towards the Franky House and then just beating the ever-loving SHIT out of them for doing what they did to Usopp and taking the money they need for a new ship. They end up pretty much wiping out everybody (though Franky himself seems to have mysteriously disappeared) and demolishing the Franky House. There's some really badass pictures I could put up, but I don't want to post spoiler pics for those who don't want to look at em. Or you can just head on over to arlongpark and take a look for yourself.

Looks like Franky's gone to another island to buy something with the money he stole. Luffy says at the end that he's made a decision, "Let's say goodbye to the Merry." So, it does indeed seem that they'll be getting a new ship.

For the manga reading people, how different is it? I got the 33 volumes while I was overseas, I think I may start churning through them, course if they're only slight differences I won't be too worried about the quality of my reading.

Well, for one, you're obviously not going to find most of the filler, like the Apis arc, in the manga. There are also some changes here and there

I can't remember exactly, but I think this guy applied or actually became one of their distributers, so maybe K-F is planning to blitz us with a bunch of episodes once they get all this bullshit out of the way. That'd be a nice way to get them back in my favor.
