Don't remember seeing any of that in a console Zelda.

RUINING MY MATURE ZELDA EXPERIENCE SINCE '93
You mean the game that saved the WiiU?
Pikmin changed nothing!
tingle's been around for ages. you're talking about a game where an elven boy is often followed by a fairy, and is routinely attacked by armies of chickens for disrespecting their people.
did the animals in Link's Awakening somehow ruin the experience for you?
also, why would experimentation - especially on the handheld titles - be bad? you realize one of the fan complaints is how things got formulaic, yeah?

RUINING MY MATURE ZELDA EXPERIENCE SINCE '93
It honestly sounds like you just want LoZ to be another generic western adventure with elves, dragons, trolls, etc.But elves and fairies kind of belong in an awesome fantasy world as opposed to those "cute" little birds whose every other word is "Kwi kwee kwee" whilst they beg you not to hurt them. Besides, there's cute (the Kokorks from Wind Waker) and then there's annoying.
Yes, use the one Zelda game that by its very nature was an excuse to be silly to bolster your argument. But a talking animal wouldn't ruin the experience of any Zelda game for me provided the talking animal wasn't an annoying and terribly misguided attempt at being cute.
This is a bit like ridiculing all the Star Wars nerds who hate Ewoks and think they were a massive detriment to RoJ.
Formulaic is another way of saying "boring". If Nintendo's answer to making The Legend of Zelda interesting is "steam powered locomotives" count me out. "Zelda needs more elements that are at odds with its mythical fantasy theme!", said no sane person ever.

Its cute how you didn't even wait for a response to the animal question, but thanks for taking the time to make yourself look like an ass nonetheless.![]()

RUINING MY MATURE ZELDA EXPERIENCE SINCE '93
Controversial opinion: I like and enjoy all the 3D Zeldas.
It honestly sounds like you just want LoZ to be another generic western adventure with elves, dragons, trolls, etc.
Miyamoto bashing is even more amusing right now than usual considering that we're coming fresh from Pikmin 3.
Aqua, Fujibayashi was the director of Minish Cap. Not that friendly gentleman you listed.
Right now Daiki Iwamoto and Hidemaro Fujibayashi are the two main directors for the Zelda franchise under Aonuma as producer.
Iwamoto is directing Wind Waker HD, Fujibayashi most likely directly A Link Between Worlds.
Don't remember seeing any of that in a console Zelda.
1) The first picture is from the "Photo Album" added to the remake of Link's Awakening (Link's Awakening DX) in 1998
2) The second picture is the controversial "nude" hippo NPC in Link's Awakening
3) The third is concept art from Oracle of Ages (2001)
Bring Tezuka, Koizumi, Aonuma and Yamada together, give them a blank check and tell them to push the boundaries as far as they can.
You mean the game that saved the WiiU?
Pikmin changed nothing!
No as they had cutesy moments and plenty of lighthearded humorous moments such as if you keep attacking cuccoo's. On top of that Zelda has always had more of a mix between japanese and western fairytales.I don't know, is that what Zeldas 1-5 were to you?
Just fire the guy who puts meaningless text boxes into Zelda games every 5 seconds and you've got a flawless game to be honest. Skyward Sword was the best Zelda yet aside from the constant alert message telling you got picked up a craft material.
I thought skyward sword was one of the best? Almost all the reviews hailed it as one of the best Zelda if i remember correctly....was it not good?
I really want to know what Miyamoto's involvement in game development is these days. I assumed he was just the guy they ran some ideas past and stamped his name on everything because his name sells.
After Skyward Sword.... I hope he goes back to Miyamoto's school :-/After Skyward Sword, Aonuma can do what he likes. Best game I've ever played in over 25 years.

I'm not sure why the korok's are acceptable but the Kikwi's aren't just because one talks differently.
If by ruin you mean advising Intelligent Systems to focus on "existing characters" then fair enough.
It was already shallow without his input.
Were you under a rock during the Sticker Shit fiasco? He did more than suggest getting rid of unique characters. If you werent a fan of the paper series why bother comment anyway?
You know its bad when consumers support a New Super Mario Bros. formula on everything.
Iwata: Miyamoto-san really persevered with Paper Mario this time. Exactly what was he particular about?
Tanabe: Aside from wanting us to change the atmosphere a lot, there were two main things that Miyamoto-san said from the start of the project-"It's fine without a story, so do we really need one?" and "As much as possible, complete it with only characters from the Super Mario world.
Iwata: That's a difficult task. In some ways that would be the exact opposite direction from recent games in the series.

Besides, there's cute (the Kokoks from Wind Waker, Deku Scrubs, Monkeys in Majora's Mask) and then there's annoying.
Could work, but I'd rather see the team faced with threat of series termination. That worked wonders for Fire Emblem.
There's a Japanese fairytale about a swordsman who saves disgustingly adorable fat penguins that pepper their speech with "Kwee"?
Interest in the series will go from low to low from here on I predict. So that might actually be the case sooner rather than later.
One thing that makes Zelda good/stand out is that it doesn't follow some generic ass dungeons & dragons formula that all Western games rehash since decades.
It was always cartoony and shit, even the darker entries like Majoras Mask. It needs that unique perspective, we have more than enough crap on the market that's standard fantasy. Though yes, there's times when they might have went overboard (not with Tingle though :])
So basically we need less Miyamoto and Aonuma and more Tezuka
I'm guessing that we have no idea who is directing Zelda Wii U? Aonuma is obviously producing, but I'd be happy for Hidemaro Fujibayashi to return and give it another crack. Skyward Sword had a lot of great stuff going on, as did Minish Cap.
That honor goes to twilight princess with 10 hour tutorial session. Either way, I guess he's ok at reproducing what's been accomplished. But the days of jumping from Zelda 2 to link to the past to Zelda 64 seems to be over.it's one of my least favourite 3d zelda, but the title of worst of all goes to wind waker
I also very much enjoyed Four Swords GBA and Phantom Hourglass. I know not everyone digged PHourglass (UNDERSTATEMENT) but I really did. Link's Magical Christmas Train left me completely cold.

They still need Miyamoto for new IP's. Aonuma needs to work on something else, give Zelda to someone new. This may sound too harsh but I think Nintendo entirely is not in need of Miyamoto anymore. I also think Zelda may not need Aonuma either. In fact I am quite sure that what Zelda needs is not having Aonuma.
Phantom Hourglass is the Star Wars: Episode III to to Link's Magical Christmas Train's Episode II. *raises flame shield*

It somehow feels weird to be talking about Aonuma (50), Koizumi (45), Konno (48), Shimizu and Eguchi (48) as if they're the new, fresh next generation of Nintendo directors when they're all pretty old themselves. Not sure how old Shimizu is but he's in the same bracket.
i know SS's sales were disappointing to some, but there were factors to that (like interest in the Wii drying up, etc)...no way do i buy this at all
