PAL Charts - Week 12, 2008

This is an email german onlineshop Spielegrotte.de send out to people that pre-ordered GT5 Prologue:

He is basically saying Sony did a pretty hefty, last-minute cut on the first shipment and he gets merely enough copies to fulfil orders that were made till 03/06/08. He's also expecting the next shipment not to arrive before 04/04/08.

So Sony as well? :lol There'll be shortages for Mario Kart Wii as well - Amazon.de stopped taking pre-orders weeks ago. This is getting more and more pathetic.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I'm actually trying to order it for some time now. :I

You can still place Wii Fit pre orders, though. Wii Wheel with more complicated production process than Wii Board confirmed? D:

If anything, I'd say that MS flat out giving away Forza 2 for the last year will dissuade a least a few fence-sitters from dropping the money on prologue.
No dude. That would be like Sony give away Resistance to dissuade fence sitters from dropping money on Halo 3. Not happening.

Ig MGS does indeed need BD50s then there is going to be big issues with that game

Was sega superstars tennis only released on wii?
I'm not sure if it's true but the main advertised version was the Wii, or at least, the Wii was used primarily with the logo of the other platforms at the very end.

I think Game are bundling Resistance with PS3s this week. Since Game is the biggest VG retailer in the UK this could explain the jump.

Some surprises in the UK chart

- Resistance is back
- Sonic Wii is back
- Cooking mama wil never ever die
- Sega tennis only entering for Wii
- Sega is making TONSS of money on the Wii, jebus.
- WHERE THE FUCK IS SMG!!!!!

‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2’ strikes it rich at the top of the All Formats chart, awarding Ubisoft their first All Formats No1 of the year and giving the Tom Clancy franchise its 5th All Formats No1 (previous Tom Clancy No1’s were ‘Splinter Cell’, ‘Pandora Tomorrow’, ‘Lockdown’ and ‘Warfighter 2’).

The tactical shooter records 77% of sales on Xbox 360 and the remainder on PS3 with the Xbox 360 version selling 3.6 times more than the original had achieved on Microsoft’s next-gen format back in December 2006. ‘Rainbow Six: Vegas 2’ becomes the 4th fastest selling Xbox 360 game in the UK, behind ‘Halo 3’, ‘Call of Duty 4’ and only 1,000 units behind Ubisoft’s very own ‘Assassin’s Creed’. Despite a healthy 60% jump in sales, last weeks No1 ‘Mario and Sonic’ has to settle for second place.

Activision claim the next 2 positions with ‘Call of Duty 4’ up from No5 to No3 and ‘Guitar Hero III’ up from No7 to No4. Renewed stock propels ‘Wii Play’ back into the All Formats Top 40 at No7, while EA’s ‘Army of Two’ is the only All Formats Top 10 title to lose sales, down from No2 to No8. ‘Sega Superstars Tennis’ manages to get its first serve into the Top 10, new at No10. The appearance of the Wii version of ‘CSI: Hard Evidence’ means a re-entry for the Ubisoft game at No24 and an improved second week for the film tie-in ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’ from Vivendi leads to its first Top 40 showing at No26. Easter promotions push amongst others ‘Cooking Mama’ from 505 Games and Sony’s ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ back into the Top 40 at No’s 29 and 30 respectively.

Charttrack blahblah

Yeah, Sega is just making a killing on the Wii, especially in the UK/PAL regions.

Less. UK market is approximately half the size of the Japanese market.

Hasn't Sonic and the Secret Rings been in the charts forever?

Yeah, Sega's making a killing on the Wii in all territories. Too bad they can't do that on other systems. And it's still looking like Unleashed isn't coming to the system. :lol

Retarded business decision. But I guess the industry as a whole is known for it, especially when it comes to Wii games.

Sega did a similar advert to what they did for mario and sonic using the wii so it's not surprising really.

To be fair, of all the major third parties Sega's Wii support has probably made the most sense . Ghost Squad, Olympics, Monkey Ball and Superstars Tennis are all perfect fits for the Wii and they aren't half showing it.

All the money they must be making from the Wii must surely be turning a few heads both internally and externally. Its cast iron proof that if you make the right games and market them, then the Wii can be a goldmine.
